I loved David Suchet's version of Hercule Poirot! Just love, love, love him!

And I really loved Murder on the Oriental Express with him.

And I was shocked- just shocked at Albert Finney crappy version of Hercule Poirot in the movie. Everyone was superb but Finney. And he is a fine actor. But his portrayal of Poirot was a nightmare. His hair. His up-turned jackets. Oh, what a ruined movie!

And I have been looking forward to the current release. Unfortunately, movies only last a week in this small town and I was boggled down with family obligations that I really could not make it to the movies.

So, I have been contemplating a fancy Murder Dinner Party Movie Night when they finally release it. But no release date as of yet!

Ohh, I am fit to be tide!

They are going to remake Death on the Nile too (since Murder on the Orient Express did so well) and I am leery.....I absolutely adore the Mia Farrow, Peter Ustinov version. (Bette Davis, Angela Lansbury, David Niven, Maggie Smith, Jack Warden, George Kennedy....really a master class on acting....)

What was your best Letterboxing experience of 2017?

I had a lot of great letterboxing experiences in 2017, but a couple of highlights involved finally meeting some long-time letterboxing friends when Southpaw and I visited Oregon and Washington in July.

My best letterboxing experience of 2017 was all centered around my boxing friends, who held me up, and took care of skootch and I when life tuned upside down, but seeing them hunt for our boxes in a completely uncharted state forest was the most fun.

Best Letterbox experience of 2017 was definitely 'The eclipse in the park' event! OMG a total eclipse is something everyone must experience once in their lifetime. It was amazing!!! Add to that a find of a Green Tortuga box.

yes an amazing DAY!!!

Thank you Baliwho for driving 20 hours, and MOUR4ME for hosting.

Peaky Blinders Season 4, what a mess!!!! So disappointed.

Before I begin, this is a huge rant. I am going to give away spoilers, so if you haven't seen the whole season, please don't read any further.

To begin with, I truly enjoy this show, despite that it's graphic and has a lot of adult related moments that I don't care for. So, image how excited I was for Season 4 . . . until I watched it.

This season was a huge mess.

Talk about a major disappointment. They should have given more time, i.e. episodes for a better story development and should have gone with someone better for Luca Changretta.

Everyone was all over the place.

The threading story line of The Black Hand, revenge for Sabino. Great. Wonderful idea. Brought the family "together" after Tommy arrested everyone of them at the end of the last season. But everyone and the side stories are a disaster.

First, Polly is seeing dead people and tripping out, spewing hate towards Tommy one minute and she's of sound mind the next and his most loyal advocate. WHAT?????

Then John gets killed. WHY????? So they can push poor Finn into the family mess. But Finn was the baby and didn't have the war-torn scars like Tommy, Arthur and John did. So, he's no real help and his character is weak.

And then Adrian "take that damn tooth pick outta-your mouth" Brody. Can you see my eyes rolling here, folks. I felt like I was watching a dude trying to be a young GodFather, most of the time. He did have a few moments, granted. But most of the time, I just stood in disbelieve in how stupid he looked.

And then the whole side story of "the British are coming" for the revolution and the revolutionaries with Ada was just ridiculous. Granted the captain who speaks with her was good looking, but it was pointless. That whole side story was pointless. It never panned out.

Arthur's religious and God fearing wife coming at him at work.

Liz getting pregnant with Tommy's baby.

Tommy getting involved with the Communist Jesse Eden.

And then they set up Michael to choose Polly or Tommy, but Polly and Tommy are on the same side. So, why did they do this to him????

And don't get me started with Alfie and his betrayal. WHY??? Especially since the man was dying. Why do you betray a man you respect and considered for the most part a friend as you are dying????

And above all, Thomas Shelby going into hiding????? Is he a thug or is this him growing up??? What is this???? Cuz the Peaky Blinders have a reputation to hold up and it's not going into hiding.

All of it was just ridiculous.

Now granted, this show is set up for all this drama to be solved with Tommy pulling something out of no where at the last minute and beating his adversaries. Okay. Yes. I get it. I love it. But who they come up with- Al Capone outta now where and the gun men just putting their guns down . . . . who thought this was great tv???? It wasn't. It was pathetic and not Peaky Blinders gutsy!!!

And then winning the election . . . . Oh!!!!!!! I am just going to leave it with that. That and Happy New Years.

Side wagers

Looking for some more entries for the side wagers game! You have until 1/7/18 to send me your submissions.

You do not need to be playing Letterboxing bingo to be in the side wagers game. There is no "entry fee", it's just a little friendly side "bet" to add to the interest of the bingo game.

NOTE: If you letterbox as part of a team/group/family with one trail name, you can send multiple submissions for your various members, just differentiate them some how for me.

Send me your top three guesses for the date the first "full card" bingo game will be won. You will be assigned one date as your spot. If your first choice is taken, I will use the 2nd or 3rd choices subject to availability. If all three are taken, I’ll assign the first available date closest to your first choice. Please E-MAIL me directly with your submission (baliddletoo@yahoo.com); DO NOT POST TO BOARD. With your submission, send me your real name, trail name and email address

Must be 18 to play

Player who is closest to the first full card win date (without going over) will get a small Letterboxing prize from me.

I have sent confirmations to everyone I have already received, if you haven't received an email back from me, you should resend your info.

Would you believe that despite my grandfather showing several black and white films as a child, I never saw Casablanca from start to finish.

And I am a little surprise that my favorite movie of all time is not on anyone's list, anywhere. But maybe it's because I have a soft spot for the "little guy".

Rocky

When he takes Adrian back to his place and he offers to "call" her brother and he goes to the window, opens it up and says "Yo, Paulie, your sister's with me. I will call you back later" . . . that is out of this world classic! "I'll call you back later", folks. Through an open window. You can't beat that!

Has anyone actually invented one and tried to get it produced?

Can I ask, how?

Who would you recommend to help design the board and cards?

Who or what to avoid?

Did it work it out for you?

Anything would be really helpful.

Thanks!

I was perusing through my logbook of plants (as some of us are wont to do when it is raining and cold and not letterboxing friendly) and discovered that I actually received a blue diamond. And it is on two of my favorite stamps (that I worked very hard on)! What a pleasant shock!! Little ole me... whooda thunk it?!?!?! Wonder when that happened....

Congrats on the blue diamonds!! It is always fun seeing those in one's plantings!

I am pretty sure the first of each month the algorithm runs to update the top boxes to assign diamonds, so it is possible this was the first month they showed. But, then again, they may have been there for a month or two if it has been a while since you last checked 😀
