In addition, I will be running the side wagers game again this year in conjunction with the bingo game. You do not have to play bingo to play side wagers. Check out the Great Lakes letterboxing Yahoo group for further information.

Looking for some more entries for the side wagers game! You have until 1/7/18 to send me your submissions.

You do not need to be playing Letterboxing bingo to be in the side wagers game. There is no "entry fee", it's just a little friendly side "bet" to add to the interest of the bingo game.

NOTE: If you letterbox as part of a team/group/family with one trail name, you can send multiple submissions for your various members, just differentiate them some how for me.

Send me your top three guesses for the date the first "full card" bingo game will be won. You will be assigned one date as your spot. If your first choice is taken, I will use the 2nd or 3rd choices subject to availability. If all three are taken, I’ll assign the first available date closest to your first choice. Please E-MAIL me directly with your submission (baliddletoo@yahoo.com); DO NOT POST TO BOARD. With your submission, send me your real name, trail name and email address

Must be 18 to play

Player who is closest to the first full card win date (without going over) will get a small Letterboxing prize from me.

I have sent confirmations to everyone I have already received, if you haven't received an email back from me, you should resend your info.

You're running out of time to enter! Email me your submissions for the side wagers game by tomorrow. baliddle @ yahoo. com

You do not need to be playing bingo to play side wagers, although you should!

No entry "fees" to play! just some good old fashioned fun to help wile away the winter.

Today is the last day to sign up for BINGO. If you want to play, head over to the Great Lakes Yahoo group to find the rules, FAQ, and words. (FYI, you don't need to be in the region to play...just a member if the board!)

Yahoo Groups seems to be on the fritz again. My last two BINGO posts don't seem to be going anywhere. I also had troubles accessing the full site, and it's my understanding I'm not the only one. Hopefully it will sort itself out soon.

Yahoo seems to be having continued issues. Assuming the problem continues, I'll work out a plan this weekend to try and get a solution.

I'm suspending the BINGO game for a few days since the site isn't working. If you are playing, keep an eye out in your email for an update, "BINGO BINGO, NEW UPDATE" sometime in the next few days.

Thanks,

...for a Local event— near St. Louis— hosted by the poo Slingers and frog. Since the kids are hosting, I’m saying hold the date. If we don’t have it all together then we will have the event this winter as my usual annual event.

I’m helping co-host GLG this year in Indiana. I was wandering if anyone who is attending this year knows the host of GLG Minnesota for next year. I’d like to pass the binder and banner on instead of having to mail it.

Will you be at the event July 21st in WI. You can give it to me there. I don’t think any of us can make the GLG this year.

Thanks to jlsd0218, 4 J’s, BAMM, and everyone who helped to put on this year’s Great Lakes Gathering and the meet and greet the night before! We had fun on and off the trail, and especially enjoyed finding carvings by multiple letterboxers within a single series. With temps over 90, we were grateful for shady trails and good company. If you didn’t make it to the gathering, please keep the park in mind for a future visit.

Thanks to all of the committee members who made these events so successful! Even though they couldn't control the steamy sauna weather, they did provide us with an air-conditioned building, and drive-bys to find in a cooled car. It is always fun to see old friends and meet new ones.

It was an honor to represent Indiana for GLG! I look forward to the next iime it rolls around to us. We’ve already started brainstorming parks!

As soon as the US Senate passed the Susan B. Anthony Amendment to the Constitution on June 5, 1919, which extended the right of suffrage to women, proponents quickly organized the process of urging states to ratify the amendment. Next year marks the 100th anniversary of Missouri's ratification of the 19th Amendment on July 2, 1919.

Venture to one of Missouri's acclaimed cemeteries-- Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum -- and pay homage to some of Missouri's noteworthy suffragists and pick up a series of letterboxes celebrating their work.

While visiting STL, explore the newly designed park and museum on the St. Louis Arch grounds: https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/gateway-arch-museum-st-louis-missouri/index.html

Plan to spend extra time at the cemetery searching for these letterboxes:
The Guiding Line and Tombstone Iconography as well as the Movers and Shakers collection which requires research in advance of visiting. All boxes planted in collaboration with cemetery staff.

NOTE: due to the big storms that swept through STL last week, there are a lot of trees down and clean up is in process. All roads were accessible at the time of planting.
