I would be interested in flying to Arizona for an event. We usually try to go to one event far away then make a vacation around it.

Oh I'm very aware. Born and raised in Tucson and spent a lot of my summer time on mt lemmon for that reason. June should be decent at the location I'm considering. The place i am considering renting would not be open to the public except thru hikers. I'd rent all 3 units available to be sure. It has its own parking, it's just limited. :)

For any familiar I'm looking at Showers point on Organization Ridge Road.

Hi there! We are newly moved full-time to Flagstaff; would LOVE an AZ event. Don't have input about Tucson area except would enjoy something in winter when it isn't so very hot there and it would be fun to get away from snow here (:-). Blessings and good luck in your planning.

Ahh i had overlooked the one in prescott. That was the same weekend i was looking at.

If i can find a venue in the valley within budget I'd love to do winter. Right now the current venue I've found closes after October because it's on the mountain. .. will keep pondering.
Kennedy Park Boxing in AZ

Hello friends! I just wanted to let you know that if you're planning any boxing adventures in Tucson to A) remember to use sunscreen, as I forgot to on a recent trip and have subsequently burned to a crisp and B) that the clues for Leapin' Lizard and IL-AZ boxing (both in Kennedy Park) have been changed to reflect the park's current state. The boxes are still linked in their clues and are alive and well, however, if you've already planned a trip and printed out your clues, you'll need to re-print these two pages. Thank you to everyone who has helped Gypsy Fiddler and I maintain these boxes from afar. We truly appreciate everyone who has replaced a bag, box, or logbook. This is a wonderful community to be a part of and I really admire how a lot of you help to keep the adventures alive for the next person by assisting each other with the maintenance of our boxes.

<3,

I second that! I've had several boxes in the Tucson area for a while now(formerly known as "Musicpals" boxes) and I am very grateful for the care and maintenance received by local boxers-you guys are the BEST! All that heat and sunshine can really put those LnL's to the test!

This box has been moved to a location along the current Arizona Trail. Within the clue is a history explaining the various locations of this box. The clue also includes the original AQ & LBNA numbers from the 2006 listing. Luckily the orignal stamp and logbook has survived.
Happy Hiking!

This board is very quiet - been stalking it for a few months and have to admit not much going on here. Sort of like the Virginia board.

Anyway my spouse Cootie Queen and I are coming to AZ in January. We have to come now because all the expenses are paid for except our rental car. We will be in Phoenix area for a week. Will be running (me) in the Rock n Roll Half Marathon Jan 14th. We have travel intentions to Williams and Tuscon two other days (Tuesday and Thursday). That leaves Sat, Mon, Wed, Fri to tour and enjoy Phoenix area. Any recommendations of must see attractions would be nice. This is our first trip to Phoenix and except for a trip to Yuma several decades ago to AZ too.

We will be limited because CQ has an energy sapping ailment that prevents her from doing any long or strenuous hikes. So we are interested in easy hikes (less than a mile) that give us a chance to see the sights of the area and maybe collect a few letterboxes. Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated on must finds in the area that meet this criteria.

Thanks, BBStacker

The Desert Museum in Tuscon is awesome. We rented a scooter for my husband and he was able to go everywhere. Everyone we talked to said it was a must and we totally agree.

The Heard Museum in Phoenix is great for the Arizona history. Also would love to throw a meet'n'greet for you if you can give a day&time when you would be free either in Phoenix or Tucson.

Heard Museum is definitely on our "to do" list.

Meet n greet will probably only work on Wednesday (1/17 in early evening) or on Friday (1/19). We will be staying in Tempe so it's probably best to have something in Phoenix area.

Darn, I'll miss you by a week! I'll be flying into Phoenix and staying in Sedona for a few days in early January.

I visited Phoenix last January and had a lovely time. The highlight for me was the Desert Botanical Garden in Papago Park. The park itself is a lovely, huge park that includes the Phoenix Zoo, some great hiking trails, and some interesting rock formations you can climb. There are also a good number of letterboxes scattered around including (shameless plug) one of mine a short stroll from the Botanical Garden parking lot.

Thanks, I seem to have spent a lot of time in Papago Park since starting my research. Saw your Century Plant box and have it prioritized. Looks like the race course takes us through or near the park as well. Wonder if I'll lose a lot of time if I stop to nab a box during the race :-)

Sorry I'll miss you. Maybe you'll have time to plant yet another.

Are you collecting rock n roll events? Best wishes on your run. I had to give it us when a freak fall took out my knee. Cycling now and nearly permanently located in Tucson.

Not collecting Rock n Roll events. Did the one in Virginia Beach because well I live here. Was going to go to Disney in January but we've been there a few times so I used Rock n Roll as my travel guide. We wanted to go somewhere in January and Phoenix had a race going on. We've never been there so we opted to run and tour.

I'm 70 now and I worry about my bones too. Really starting to like the races that I do every other month sort of. After Phoenix it's back home for the Shamrock Half-Marathon in March than on to Indy for the Indy 500 half-marathon in May. Nothing planned after that.

We only have one day (Thursday) planned in Tucson (looks like a two hour drive from Tempe) and will be spending a lot of time touring the boneyard. If you're in town and want to do late lunch or an evening coffee or something let me know.

The monsoons this summer re-routed the Santa Cruz River and made access to this box difficult. New location is a stroll from a new parking location between Tubac and Tumacacori.
