Welcome! If you are ever in the Columbia area hit Bialdo and I up! We have such a good time. Been boxing for 12 years now and while there are not tons of boxes in MO (like New England) the boxers are fun and committed!

What are these patches you speak of? I can't seem to correctly navigate to your photo album... Also, The Woodshed was looking for a few of the old AQ oval patch with a purple border a few weeks ago: https://www.atlasquest.com/boards/messages.html?startId=946567;threadId=137002

You may want to check out University of Toronto or Ryerson University to see if they have any rooms available in one of their student residences.
I can make arrangements for you to visit the Ontario Science Centre if you feel like venturing out of the downtown core and spending some time indoors.

I think it's because us Michiganders are always out boxing. Either that or planning the next boxing adventure. But we are a thoughtful bunch. :)

Yes, it will be so fun to put a face to the trailname. :-) What about Thursday July 20 for a meet up? Is the cat cafe ok? There's a $5 cover fee to get into the cafe so we can always change locations if you'd rather, but it's a fun place (and neighborhood) and it has a letterbox. If that date works for you, I can set up an event on AQ.

Have you heard of LTCs? They are Letterbox Trading Cards. If you have looked around AQ at all, you have probably heard of them. They are like baseball cards, but they are handmade, include a hand carved rubber stamp and a little bit (or a lot) of creativity.
If you have been thinking about making some LTCs and you are a bit hesitant, I can help you out. I have an overflowing box of cards and postage that were donated for the express purpose of encouraging new artists. If you send me your address and name, I will send you a sample of cards. There are no strings. If you like them, you can keep them. If you don't, you can pass them on to someone else who may like them.
Hope to hear from you soon!

I'm carving something right now that is really pushing my limits and is making me just about loose it. I didn't think it would be this difficult and it's starting to own me. So I decided to take a break and look at my book of LTCs. It is full of beautiful little works of art. I can't even begin to tell you how much joy all these LTCs bring me. But they do. So many people refer to them as "just paper" but to me they are so much more. They are little pieces of each of you...time you have invested...little gifts... There are so many times that as I color/create each of my LTCs I bring up the list of participants and think of each participant as I create "their" card. Weird I know...maybe creepy...but it's true. So as I looked at my book today I just want to tell you that I appreciate the effort and time all of you invest in making cards. They are truly a mirror of you. :)

SWMBO and I both visited our eye doctor this week, and we're both in good shape. The prescription for reading glasses just keeps getting stronger with age, though. The eye doc mentioned that they'll just keep getting stronger until cataracts force the surgery, then you won't have to wear reading glasses any more. She also said that cataract surgery seems to be getting later lately; people used to get it in their early/mid 60's, but now it's later when they start building up. I guess we're doing something right?
While driving home it occurred to both SWMBO and I that, soon enough, people are going to start REQUESTING that surgery even when they don't have cataracts simply because the artificial lens is so much better than the aging natural one. That happened with LASIK surgery some time back; people with 20/20 vision were requesting it just so they'd have 12/12 vision. If there are any more improvements in those artificial lenses, we'll probably see a trend toward more and more elective surgeries.
BTW, while I was there I requested -- and received -- a prescription for a 3rd pair of glasses for up-close work only. There was some discussion -- she was hesitant -- but when she realized that without it I'd just go on wearing the clip-ons over my prescription reading glasses, she agreed to give me that same magnification so I don't have to fiddle with the clip-ons. I'll be filling that prescription within the next coupla weeks and will report on how they work.

I agree that art mirrors their maker. I understand the sentiment that you think of the person that the card is for as you make it too. I feel that way about quilts. When I sew for someone, I think of the person while making the quilt. Then, when someone uses their quilt, it's like wearing a hug.
My "just paper" comments are usually for people who are struggling to fulfill a commitment due to things happening in their life. Ultimately, they are "just paper". That doesn't mean they aren't REALLY AWESOME paper.

That's good to know, because when I join or list a tracker I choose my image from what calls to my deepest depths. A lot of times there's personal emotion or memory/experiences in my image choices.

Yes I didn't sell those. Those were Ryan's. They make you order and pay for a lot upfront so a lot of people don't like to take the risk that they won't sell. Or pay for the reorder if they do! I only have two of his myself...one on my backpack and one spare.

July 20th works out great for us. My hubby will be with his work until about noon and then we will need something to do for the rest of the day. Our flight doesn't leave until 1am Friday morning. I'm not looking forward to that! We are however anxious to meet some of you!!! :)
