I'm in Evansville and I had a few new boxes go missing this spring. I just figured it was because of the nice weather. More ppl are out and stumbled on my box. I even put a note at one location and hope that it is returned.

I'm not in Indiana, but I have had one of my boxes go missing, and what do you think I found in it's place? A geocache!
If you are planning a trip to Hayes Arboretum soon ...

I just checked on 4 boxes this afternoon. Two are in great condition and in their proper hiding spots. One is missing and one is probably beneath a very large, downed tree. I didn't have my hiking stick or gloves so I didn't dig around much. I will be checking back within one week and update the unknowns.

FYI - I mention a "cheat" to get back to the nature center parking lot using the gravel road (auto route). I wasn't able to take it this afternoon due to a large washout over the creek near the springhouse. So I returned to the designated path.

The staff here know about the boxes are are excited that they bring folks to the arboretum. I volunteer on Fridays and today I printed clues for the newest naturalist and she is excited to hunt for them. She asked about carving a stamp and I told her I would bring in supplies and help her get started. She hails from Gypsy Ladybug and Cookie Cutter's neck of the woods and I printed out additional clues. The seeds have been planted!

If you visit on a Friday, be sure to ask at the nature center if anyone can help with compass directions (hehehe).

I recently attended a letterbox event in St. Louis this past weekend and it got me thinking about how awesome it would be to get to know other local letterboxers from the area in which I live. I am from Chandler, IN but would love to connect with people who live in the tri-state area.

I've started a list of names of letterboxers who I think may be local and will be contacting them directly so if you are reading this and you get an AQ message from me, you'll know why. wink, wink....

If you are reading this and you are from the tri-state area and are interested in attending a meet and greet and future letterboxing events in the Evansville area, please leave a comment or send me a message.

Also not from the area, but close enough that I might like to make the trip there for an event. Seems that they do have many boxes in the area and might be good to meet up with some more of the local boxers.

I am from Central Illinois and think Casey, IL with all the big things like golf tees, wind chimes, rocking chair, pencil, mailbox, etc. is just begging for a letterbox meet up!

Speaking of Casey, G-MA and I will be coming up one day on Spring Break. Still working on the details. It looks like there are no boxes there. You can plant one for us to find :)
