I went to the Wet, Wet, and Wild, but mostly Wet West Va event. There was one series that was planted for the event that was a ONE hour drive from the event, hiked for 3 hours in on and off rain, rubbed a blister on my foot that I am now nursing.
Back home and enjoying life with my family. Hope to log my WV finds today.
I'm also into the "Roxboro Rocks " hide and seek fun.
Oceanwinds do you know of an easy spot to drive up to Flat river where I could gather some rocks?

Oh yeah, great thought. But I'd have to get there before Mei Mary so she doesn't get them all. Lol

No, we will be somewhere in WV Friday night. We are leaving after we get off work that Friday, so we will drive about 5 hours. That leaves about 4 hours to drive to the event Saturday morning!
When are box rankings assessed?

What are the metrics by which Box Rankings get tabulated? I'm curious to see where my newer boxes (3 months old, a dozen finders) stack up, but as yet they are not listed.

Haha - me too!! And with the 30++ guests. On top of decluttering, we added in a new kitchen floor and painting! Graduation not until June 10th but after that I'll refocus on letterboxing out the wild, rather than through the mail!

If you would be interested in attending an event, the 2017 Great Lakes Gathering - "One for the Books" will be held in the Milwaukee area (Delafield) on June 24th. That would be a great place to meet up with some local boxers and find lots of great letterboxes!

The Emma & Hook romance is my favorite part of the show. I hope that Emma comes back on occasion. I have watched the series from the start but am usually behind as I do not have cable and just finished this season.
I would have rather them stopped at the happy ending versus the spin at the end. Hopefully it ends up being a good show still.

Off the top of my head, I don't remember. I think they become eligible for ranking after three or four months, though. It changes occasionally, though. But keep in mind that the rankings are only run once per month so if your box missing the ranking period by one day, it basically has to wait almost an entire extra month to get included again.

Lots of boxes to be had at this little event about 40 minutes north of Buford!
Two teams have spent the last couple of weekends planting 40+ boxes while logging approximately 28 "letterboxing" miles at Don Carter State Park. If you've never found a drgdlg box, you are in for a treat! We have boxes on long hikes, short hikes, paved trails, campground paths, lakeview loops, and everything in between.
Hope you can make it!

Lots of plans are well under way and "The Eleven" is sure to be another fun event! Many FANTASTIC stamp contributions have arrived and planting is about to begin. If you haven't signed-up already, here's the link for our 2017 event in July:
The Grateful Letterboxers - "The Eleven"
.......... and here's a little food for thought to get you "In the mood":
Grateful Dead 05-03-1968 Columbia U. - The Eleven (with video clips)
My favorite part is 5:15->5:30 when the band "steals the face" right off a young fan!!! )
We hope to see many of you next month!!! ;o)

Thanks!

Well, there was an event up here in Michigan over the weekend. I attended that for a good portion of the day on Saturday. I saw many letterboxers I met over the years.
After the event, I went up north (northern part of the lower peninsula) as I usually do for Memorial Day weekends. The cousin who introduced me to letterboxing has a house up there with a room for me. We're close like sisters.
On the way up there, I detoured to see another letterboxing friend and her family. She was the first and only person I exchanged with at the first event I attended. She was the only person to request an exchange. Back then, I had no idea what the heck I was doing or if another event would be in my future (even though it was rather fun).
My cousin, her husband, and I found a letterbox on Sunday and followed it with a trip to the drive-in to see a double feature of Pirates of the Caribbean and Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Monday was spent at a parade. Then we went to eat at one of our favorite places up there. She picked up her son from his dad's and then her, her brother, and I were teaching her son how to play the hide-and-seek type games we used to play as children. Actually, one, Sardines, was new to me, and I liked it better because there was less running. At one point, I was hiding in the bushes like I was a letterbox. =P
I returned on Wednesday because I had an interview in another part of the state. It was easier just to go from up there to the interview. I found a box and attempted another. While there, I found a Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. It made me think of and miss NC. NC is never too far from my mind. Miss you all!

Hi Cecilia 57!
Local lboxers used to host events often in the ATL metro, but life got in the way just a bit. Always fun to meet lboxers so I'm glad you're planning to attend!
BTW, I love your sig stamp. So pretty!

We better have lunch before you tackle snake territory back there. I collected a few and ran across 2 snakes. It will be a while before I head over there again. I have been looking in the neighborhood amd in our outdoor learning environment when I can get outside to walk.
