Glad Diana and everyone else is safe!

Now that I don't have to worry about people, I hope those treasured Safari Man boxes survived :(

No one-star reviews on them. That's pretty impressive!

BTW, you get a better deal if you buy the bundle of the primary and bright color sets.

I made a LB resolution years ago and have fallen short every year up till now but today I did it... As of today I can say that I have been able to log at least 1 find per month for an entire year. This may not be a major feat for many in various parts of the world but here in upstate NY it's a task that takes planning and luck. What will next year bring? Can't wait to see.

After posting this, Tom and I watched the remake. Everyone, even Marilla, was fine. The only exception is Gilbert Blythe. He might be okay, I guess. The young man playing him was just a bit of a shock. Jonathan Crombie seemed a little more charismatic as Gilbert Blythe in the 80s version.

I have been wondering about Glenn's boxes as well, SO. I hope they made it through safely. Wouldn't be the first time fire has damage or destroyed some of his boxes, however. Here in Ok long ago in a lake park there were a couple, or three that did. They even closed up that section of the park and never to regain entrance to check any more on those that were left.

I have wondered how close Granny Butterfly and Coffee Mug are to the affected areas and hope they as well as the many boxers and general public make it out safely.

Take care all,
OD

I posted this in the stamp swap board earlier in the week. I know it's really short notice and during the holiday season, but it's hard to do a 2016 year in review early in the year.

We could definitely use some help with some stamps for our 2016 Year in Review event over the long NY's weekend.

If your interested in possibly carving a stamp or two for the series check out the following trackers:

Tomorrow they are letting only home owner, renters, and rental property owners into Gatlinburg from 10am to 5pm. Hoping to check on Safari Man's boxes sometime this winter. Talked to Hale Angel s this afternoon and she is holding up as well as to be expected. They rapidly left their home and could see the fire all around. She's not very optimistic about the outcome of their home, sad to say. Thank goodness they made it out fine.

I think I used the "letterboxing permits" line on you at Duncan Woods in Grand Haven, but we met up with you at John Ball Zoo later the same day.

I thought that too, but the boxes were not in the Gilbert Forest. Neither were the clues for Bugs or the chipmunks even describing where they were found. Any further thoughts?

I just looked at a map. The trailheads for both series are on the same side of Mill Street. It would be a pretty big coincidence that there would be two series with identical boxes.

This is all very sad. Maybe we can come together and help, if needed?

Either by helping Hale's Angel, or by sending/planting new stamps to perk up some of the sadness and destruction...

Thanks!

Current plan:

I put pictures on a power point (visuals!) to go over key terms, and plan to bring some of my own stuff to show n tell. Then they will make a stamp- I have foam stickers and small wood blocks. They'll make up a trail name, too and can write it in their log book.

Then, break into pairs and each pair given a clue for practice boxes, hidden around the room. Then I can observe that they stamp correctly before I send them out for real.

Then, given real clues (Slightly altered from AQ clues). There'll be 2 teams and I've reversed one set of clues so they are not all on top of each other. One goes clockwise on the trail, the other goes counter clockwise.

They'll have an hour and set to meet back in the classroom. Now that they've seen multiple clues and boxes, they will have a chance to rehide the practice boxes (temporarily) and write their own clues for another pair of girls to find.

Basically, doing that last step means they've earned a whole badge without having a letterbox haphazardly hidden and listed on AQ only to disappear in a week. :)

Hopefully it works out and hopefully they can do it all in the 2 hours allotted!

This season has been super entertaining. The last three tribals have been AH-MAZING! Everyone seems to be playing a really smart game (Taylor and Ken (dolt!) notwithstanding.) They voted out Mikayla early on which was a smart move and now they've voted out probably the biggest threat to win. I am *REALLY* rooting for a David or Adam win.

You realize that Adam's playing the idol at tribal counsel made no difference in the outcome, the same person would have been voted out on a 5-4 vote.

Also, they probably couldn't trust Will would vote their way. Had Hanna went home it would have been bad for David's team.

Finally read this book. Put it down about the 50 page mark. About a week later went back to it.

Definitely didn't like the non-linear and multiple characters. Then of course the whining main character was simply infuriating.

The people who saw the book in my hand also had similar thoughts on the book. A few did mention that the movie was better.
