Holy cow. We had about 20 and they came in about 4 groups, done by 8pm, except for my daughter and her friends at 9pm. Their bags so heavy, they didn't want to ring doorbell!

I used the Jack-o-lantern since it seemed appropriate. I've seen letterboxers use the eye also.

Wow! We had 27 kids come by...including one who barely made it at 8:59. Pumpkins come in and lights go out at 9. We were one of a few houses actually handing out candy. Really sad.

I stood by the door of my hostel here in Spain all evening waiting for trick-or-treaters and didn't get a single one! *sniffles* None of the other people in the hostel appreciated me telling them to "smell my feet" either....

Then just to insult me, they closed pretty much everything for All Saints Day. ARRGH!!!!

We live in a fairly large family mobile home park and I got 2 trick or treaters! Its getting worse and worse each year. All my boys grew up and do not trick or treat anymore. It seems everyone goes to other neighborhoods now a days. Next year we are just going to say forget it. Lights out.
Remote car starters

Hi. We are trying to decide if we want to get a remote car starter for my son for Christmas. He is a senior in highschool. He is also doing a co-op at an elementary school, then goes to work after that. He's in and out of his car all day. We live in upstate NY. It's cold and snowy here.

I called two different places and got somewhat conflicting reports on them. One place told me that for $199 (sale this week) I get one with two remotes with a 1000 foot range. My son parks in the back of the HS parking lot. I have no idea how far it actually is.

The other place said for $250 I get a remote with the same range, but for $280 I get one with 3000 ft range. He said a 1000 ft range is basically out your front door to your driveway. He said 3000 ft is much better. Said you have to consider going thru the wall of the building and all the way out.

The car is a 2005. It's got low miles on it, We are hoping it lasts thru college and at least a few hrs after. However 280 is a little more than I wanted to spend. Does anyone have a remote starter. Will the 1000 feet truly not be good enough or is the other guy just trying to upsell me. I would hate to buy it and him have to go outside to start the car.
Thanks.
Vicki

Convert this guy to letterboxing so he learns how far 1000 feet is! That is about a fifth of a mile, the distance from my front door to my driveway is about 25 feet. I had a remote starter on my last car and loved it. We have a detached garage and I could start the car while in my house which meant it went through the wall of the house as well as the garage wall. My guess is that it was the 1000 foot range model. Of course, they are going to want you to buy the higher priced model but my guess is that the 1000 foot range would work just fine.

Mine had 1000 foot range and I could reach it across the retail plaza parking lot from the doorway of the store I work in. It is quite a distance and was never an issue.

That is another perk. I also enjoy the people watching aspect as well as communicating with different people. My SO is not interested in the game at all. However, he will drive me through downtown Flint at night. I load up on the Pokestops, and he listens to his scanner. It doesn't do much for the buddy or catching them, but that happens when I visit the parks and the RenCen.
Love the Silph Road site. I wish it was available or known to me a couple months ago when I visited NC. Reddit was a bit helpful for that trip.

The date has been set! I look forward to seeing you all again next summer for our next garden party.

I am looking forward to seeing what wonderful beings inhabit my gardens next year.

A little feedback about the number of boxes- this year we had 60 boxes, was that to many to comfortably get done in the time allotted? Not that I'm locking the gate at 4, and I wouldn't let you finish up.
