If I remove them, would you like me to mail them to you as a keepsake so you can see how many people have found your box?

Yeah some of the wheel chair icons in spring grove are like it's in ____ bush and I'm like unless you have stretch Armstrong arms you aren't reaching inside a big bush lol. I think I might have to scope them out and make sure and then plan a day

Yeah, I think I'll just have to be more diligent on reading clues as well, if he had a scooter it'd be easier but a manual wheelchair is a bear on the back if I have to take him over the river and through the creek to grandmas letterbox we go. I'm only 26, but that makes you old quick

Yeah. Spring grove here in Cincinnati has a ton, but often it's hidden in bushes or the very bottom of head stones or require massive amounts of trudging through somewhat hilly grass from clue to clue. Great for the average boxer.... I kinda wish we could get an event day.... Wait a minute!!!! That's it
An event to plant for diabled letterboxers

In a different thread I was talking about how I would love it if there was some type of event to get our community to plant more boxes for our disabled/wheelchair bound letterboxers or people that wanted to become boxers. Then it hit me. Why not make an event, so on October 1,2016 I made an event called "A Plant for Disabled Letterboxers". Please pass it around and get the word out so we can extend our family and our fun out to others, thanks.

And even better news today!

Latest update! Kristin is agitated because she can't talk with the trach tube in, but she is nodding in response to questions. She's also responding to Lori reading the cards she's getting. :)

Let's send in cards from letterboxers across the country so that TrailTroll can keep responding to them!

Seattle "must find" boxes

ATVRacer and I are visiting my sister in Seattle for a week at the end of August. We'll be staying in Ballard, and were wondering if there are any "must finds" in Ballard or the surrounding areas. We've never been to Seattle before, so we will have to learn the neighborhoods and districts while we are there. We're willing to try to figure out some mysteries, too (So make sure just to let us know the names of them, we'll do our best to figure out the rest.)

We were also hoping to do a mini meet somewhere, coffee? drinks? a meal? We'll be arriving august 26th and leaving September 2nd. The only day we have something planned so far is the 27th. Otherwise, we are pretty much open right now.

My brother is actually paralyzed from the waist down. Since I've joined the letterbox community he's been wanting to go, but most boxes are too difficult. I figured this is a way to expand our reach and bring more friends and family into the fun of letterboxing

What are some things that make it a good hide for those disabled and/or in a wheel chair?

I am guessing that hiding boxes at waist height as opposed to on the ground under something, but what else.

Brailleboxer chime in as well, for those whom are visually impaired.

On the ground is possible. Most letterboxes however are hidden in bush bases. Behind trees on hills and in tight holes under head stones. Letterboxes can be reached from the ground but it's the reach length is what we usually don't think of.

Also availability to place stamps that can be grasped with reach sticks as well is an idea. Slender bags can work as well and making it able to be grasped and put back via reach sticks is another clever way(I'd put that as a req. in the hints though) This can extend their reach radius.

I'm noticing that some of my ink pads dry out faster than others. Not sure why, but I imagine part of the reason is the brands, and that some are pigment-based and some are water-based, etc. I am also suspicious that it could be the way they are stored. I can't really afford or even find where to buy re-inkers, and want to get the most use out of my stamps as possible.....I'm sure everyone agrees! Some people say to store them upside-down, others say to keep them in plastic bags and in a cool place. My craft room is always cool, in a finished basement, and I keep them in a drawer of a crafting storage rack. I've recently invested in a lot of Distress pads, archival ink pads, stazon pads, and I also have my tried-and-true versafines. What do you guys do to store and keep them from drying out? I appreciate your ideas!

Depends on size of my box, combined with how frequently people are boxing in my area. I average 20-30 pages per logbook. Seems that in my experience, that's about when they start to get old enough and out in the elements long enough that, even in a tried-and-true LnL, they need to be replaced anyway. Sometimes the seal is compromised if the inside contents are not tucked all the way in, etc. and all it takes is ONE person doing that to allow moisture in to damage the logbook. I also use a ziplock bag for double protection but over the years they also get less effective and can leak. In a perfect world, a LnL box with room for a thick, chunky logbook, that would never go missing or need maintenance is our ultimate dream...but I wouldn't waste all that extra logbook material on my fantasy!

yes-this cemetery is a letterboxing-mecca and gets lots of visitors. I recommend that any boxer planning to hunt here take replacement pouches or boxes and plenty of extra, small logbooks and ziplocs because there are always many boxes in need of maintenance. Local boxers, bless their hearts, are helpful, but all that work shouldn't always be on them, IMO, and many planters are from out-of-town anyway and have trouble doing their own maintenance (like me!)
Be sure to go here-and AQ me so I can go with! LOVE Spring Grove! :-) There always seen to be around 100 active boxes here at any time.....some go missing but others keep being planted. Hey, Ohio friends! When are you planning another event at Spring Grove anyway?

I keep mine in a special cubby I built out of sandwiched poster-board and duct tape. Don't laugh, but it looks fabulous and cost me like $5. Holds a lot of different pads since I customized the sections, and has 3 large enough drawers on the bottom to hold my TH Distress inks and paints. And the area I put it in is in the hottest place in my house. No clue how they even hold up at all.

Same process as listing a regular box, except on the last page of the listing you type in the name of the master box that this bonus is dependent on in the space provided. AQ automagically takes care of the rest, adding the bonus box icon. You must list the main box first so that you can apply the dependency when first listing the bonus; you don't want it to be visible for a while before you apply the dependency.

I can't really afford or even find where to buy re-inkers...

That's like saying you can't afford to save money. The re-inker is the cheap way to go, basically allowing you to reuse the same ink pad forever.

I am wheelchair bound and have three word of mouth plants here in ct. All were planted from my chair but it's tough on the pusher. One is under the edge of a large rock and requires a reaching tool, one is in a guardrail and one is behind a plaque on a bridge with a sidewalk. I signed up for the event and will most likely use a local guardrail that's accessible with my power chair.

Versafine makes a reinker for their black and the sepia. The Versafine reinkers are expensive especially compared to other reinkers, but you get to use your inkpad until it wears out.
