Yes, another great event in Arizona along the Colorado River. Thanks to SnakeDoctor for hosting, TePee-AZ for her supporting role and for the great Event stamp by JollyMon. While on the trails, at times, it did feel like we were in the middle of a MadMax movie - except everyone we met along the way was also enjoying a perfect day outside!

Due to construction in the area for a recreation trail this box has been temporarily removed. It may be 'found' during this time based on current clue.
Thanks, Waneta Wench for the heads up about the construction.

Really fun low key event. Thanks to all who came, who Shared provisions, who planted fun boxes relating to the several themes of the year.

The only rain on our parade was the sudden rain as we left the park.

Came away with a new word: triskaidekaphobia.

And best of all seeing friends from other states near and far.

This was a great event with lots of old and new friends. Great boxes, food, and stories. Perfect location and even great weather (not to cold and not to hot). Thanks to all the Tucson boxers for rolling out the red carpet for both the pre-event and the main event.

Thank you, thank you, and thank you.

AZ Tree House Help

Hi All,
My five year old son is currently obsessed with tree houses. Sadly, I don't have a backyard conducive to a tree house so I was wondering if you could help us satiate his interest. With Mesa as our home base, I need suggestions/recommendations/rumors of:
A. Parks with a tree house
B. Camping or lodging where you stay in a tree house
C. Tree house tour
Many thanks in advance!

This box was originally planted in Patagonia, AZ, due to road maintenance the box went missing. I re-carved the stamp and placed the box in a new location, south of Sierra Vista. This box is part of the Baja Botany series.

May 20-23 will be staying at the Grand Canyon and Lake Powell Resort before going onto Bryce NP and Zion.

This time of year do I need to pack insect repellent? Luggage is getting full, but will bring if needed

Thanks for any insight.

Hello all!

Last fall I hosted a huge Harry Potter Themed event in NC. I have always hoped to replicate it in AZ, since I am from Tucson and spent most of my summers on Mt Lemmon. Originally I wanted it at the girl scout camp but I got a quote and it is WAYY too much on my wallet to do that one. So I'm looking for other options.

This event is very different from other events- I need a place that can be fully rented, so very few muggles will be around. This event involves lots of props and decorations, and it takes at least one full day JUST to set them up and the goal is to have it up for 2 days of boxing. So it can't be at a park where muggles would tamper with them. For example, I have quidditch hoops to set up, I have decorations for all 4 houses, divination, owlry, etc etc....that is spread and set up over a large area. It's just under 200 stamps!

Anyway- I'm currently looking into a couple group sites where I can rent multiple group ramadas. Found a couple but they have limited parking.

Soooo having never attended an event in Arizona--- on average, how many people usually attend? I am currently looking at Shower's point (one of the place I camped as a scout) and even if I get all 3 sites (Which will work ok for my event plans) and even though each one holds up to 25 people overnight ....there's only 15 official parking spots. With room to park along the road. Is this enough? I assume locals would arrange carpool up Mt Lemmon anyhow.....

Advice appreciated. I don't have dates yet. I have a small window between my work schedule and the campground opening, I hoped to host this year...might be next year.

Thanks!
Bonnie (Bee)

PS I don't get to use the word "ramada" here in NC. Everyone thinks I'm referring to the hotel...

Here's sign-ups for past Tucson events:
https://www.atlasquest.com/showinfo.html?eventId=3557
https://www.atlasquest.com/showinfo.html?eventId=3710
https://www.atlasquest.com/showinfo.html?eventId=2880

So that's 51, 53 and 55.

THANKS! It occurred to me as I hit post that I could probably look these up.

However it is still a question I have-- is 15 spots (plus some unofficial spots on the road) enough for typical attendance? Surely some local boxers know each other well enough to carpool ~1 hour from Tucson (depending where you live exactly)?? How many cars does an average of 50 Arizonans equal? HA!

The numbers given are for events in February with probably half from out of state. Based on AZ residents that regularly attend events I can probably count 15-20, and several of us travel extensively during the summer. I'm not sure how many would come from out of state. Sounds like a great event and the AZ crowd would love it, but numbers could be small. Let us know how we can help, if needed.

Awesome thanks. I wanted to do this fall but i decided to travel to see the total solar eclipse instead. Don't think i can do both. So probably early summer (first week of June) or next fall. Didn't think about summer travel or snow birds. Do you think if it were June. ..or august /sept people would attend?
