Hey RDHG, I'm so glad to see you back from you long hiatus!! It's been awfully quiet without ya. Hope you decide to host an event at this super neat location. Sounds like a very friendly letterboxing place.

For those who have been waiting for more details.... :-)

H and I took a drive up to the location and got a mini tour. The woman on the board of this North Carolina place, with whom I have been speaking, has been so accommodating and is even talking with local businesses about making our visit there the best that it can be. There are indoor accommodations, and there are RV sites. We will get more specific details on cost, etc., soon. Oh, and, if you are a horse person, there is also a hotel with stables.

It is looking like the event will be the weekend of September 30th or the weekend of November 18th. Given nighttime temps, specific availability of accommodations may make that decision. Haha.

R and H and I have a trip planned back there and hope to have final details some time next week. Woohooo!

Ok, this is sounding like it's shaping up to be a pretty amazing event...
I know you are keeping the location a secret, but is it reasonable-driving-distance from Raleigh? I might have to try to arrange a "Customer Visit" around that time....

How fun would that be?! It is not far from I-77 and I-40. I hope to have all details squared away by next weekend (in about a week and a half).

While I have been quiet on the boards, I have been working away in the background preparing for this event. There is still plenty of room for anybody else who might like to join us at this Old West Town in the middle of North Carolina. :-)

That would be super! No, there is no deadline to commit. I do have something up my sleeve, though, for which it would be helpful to know as soon as you decide. <winkwink>

If you look at the event page, there are suggestions for lodging. So far I know of people renting private cabins and staying at Miss Daisy's.

This event is being held at an old west town in the heart of North Carolina. If you like hiking, there will be enough to keep you hunting for boxes the entire weekend. The people are friendly, the lodging is affordable (especially if you share), and event boxes are welcome.
