Board: Night Owls
Was just over on the book of face and a memory came up that I was up super early (around 7a) on this date last year and I didn't have to be. This year I'm up and it's because I have to be. Yuck! Worked late last night and have to go in super early tod...

But on the upside, I made a batch of cookies and did all the dishes :) Glad I'm not the only one. Laundry is in the dryer, dishes are done, but I'm waiting on the bread to come out of the oven so I can go to sleep. It is going to be a rough morning....

Any update on the CT DEEP 2016? Is the thought still that it'll be announced on 2/14 at a hike? Any news on what hike, where, when? We're trying to plan the weekend's activities. Is there a newsletter I can subscribe to get this info? Thanks much.

Board: Traditional Letterboxes
I posted a new letterbox on atlasquest and I do not remember listing it with letterboxing.org, and yet it is there also. Is this new?

There is no way to list a box with someone else as owner, so if it is listed with your trailname, you did it. Perhaps schizophrenia? If another name is on it but it is your box, that isn't allowed on either site, so contact the webmasters to get it d...

The boxes at the big plantations. To me, the plantations are worth it. Check for the mystery boxes. The Hunley was good, but not sure it it is still there or accessible. I honestly did not find many boxes in Charleston, because it is such a nice...

Board: Stamp Carving and Mounting
Has anyone tried gluing the stamps to the foam and then cutting them out? I have a lot of stamps I want to mount and I thought it might be faster that way. Normally I trace the stamp on the foam, cut out on the line, and glue. But what if you glue a...

I always glue first (with Gorilla glue) and cut later. I've never done it another way.

Board: Hitchhikers, Cooties, and Fleas
How do I find an HH or a cootie or a postal? I know that people give them to other letterboxers, but how do you know if someone else is a letterboxer without just asking? How do they know if you are? I would love do participate in HH/C/P but I have no...

Me either. I tried the first way once or twice, but the stamps tended to slide off of the foam and then there was a mess to fix.

I have a carve and it looks great except I messed up an eye. I've thought about gluing in some more pink stuff and carving that down anyone have any suggestions?

I did that on the lettering on one of my stamps. Got tired of re-carving the moose, so I cut out the section with the lettering and popped in a new piece when I finally got the letters right. You have to be careful not to get glue on the stamping sur...

At their hike on January 1, where they did the drawing for the hiking staffs, they said they were going to make an announcement on Feb 14. They say that on their webpage, too. And they are still calling it, "Sky's the Limit" for 2016. Here's the DEEP...

Definitely glue to foam first then after it dries you can get a better clean cut with the foam to the edge of the stamp.

That sucks! :-( I got a good piece of advice from these boards once (though I can't remember who posted it) to always begin with the toughest part of the carve. I've saved a lot of time since then by screwing up the hard part before doing a great job...

Postals you can find by doing a tracker search and looking for rings or singles with openings. Hitchhikers and cooties you just have to stumble upon in a box you find or in your purse when you get home from hanging out with other letterboxers.

Kind of late for this suggestion, but keep in mind for next time.... The very first thing I carve after a quick warm up outline, is the eyes, because usually that's the first thing people are drawn to look at. If I mess up, I just flip the pink stu...
