In addition, they used the "limited" time icon when they listed the box, but didn't list any time constraints. Not something an experienced planter using AQ is likely to do, but a newbie would.

Unless said experienced planter knows that because of all of the muggles that the box will be limited-time (short-time).

Thanks for the explanation. Sounds like needle carving is not something I need to learn. I make more nature related (or cartoony) stamps than I do stamps requiring sharp detail and I'm not enough of a perfectionist to care about what seems like a small difference it would make.

I carve with both gouges and blades. I switch to the better tool for the job. I've tried needles but haven't done very well with them. I just haven't got the hang of them. I'm going to make a wire knife though and try that.

Nice sharp carving tools and a good magnifier will make quite a difference. I even have a jeweler's loupe for when I need to see very well. That "small difference" that you speak of can make a very nice looking stamp. Though it does take patience. I agree that it's not worth "perfection" on all stamps, but I'm willing to put the effort into many stamps. I hope that you will stretch your skills in stamp carving, as I try to do and as we all should try to do.

Then again, I do LTCs and I am amazed at the beautiful LTCs done by people who carve simple stamps. (By "simple" I don't mean hack-jobs but stamps with few details.) Many people put their time into coloring the LTCs in beautiful ways. A simple stamp that is well presented can certainly make for a beautiful LTC. In this I try to stretch my skills as well, but I am far from matching some of you out there.

Then there are people who make excellent log books, write excellent clues and/or find exceptional places to hide boxes. We all have skills. Let us stretch in all.

I carve detailed stamps and I carve them well. Just not with a knife or needle. I tried knife carving and it came out all wonky. So, to me, I don't think it'd make much difference in my stamps. Perhaps I'm wrong. Maybe I'll try it again another time. I am always looking at improving.

I had great short term results on the keto diet, but I couldn't sustain it. It was too difficult. Now I have limited carbs each day, which has helped tremendously, and I'm still losing weight.

The stuff I have is marked 2014 and it is a darker pink. I find it to be softer than the older pink stuff but seems to be able to hold details well enough; a sharp blade/gouge is a must. I'm not sure yet how fine I can get my lines though, I'll be testing that soon enough though. I kind of like it but it is all I currently use. As for PZ, the only PZ I liked was Orange Grade A, I really miss that medium...

I am going to be cruising to Hawaii in March and I would like to show my sister what I know about letterboxing. We have been to Hawaii multiple times, so won't be getting a rental car this time. Are there any letterboxes within walking distance of the ports ~ Hilo, Honolulu, Lahaina and Kauai are our stops. Thank you in advance!!

So, yet another question: I've received several inchies (as a welcome package) and they range from 1"X1", 1"x.75", and 2"x2"...if there are no specifications, I just do the 1"X1" correct?

I appreciate all the input! You guys are awesome!

Wow! That's a lot of detail. I certainly can't get that detail with a gouge, though I can do pretty well. That's the type of detail that it takes me a blade to do. It just goes to show what an experienced gouge carver can do.

Inchies are (by default) 1"x1". The organizer of the swap will tell you if the size is different. But inchies are different than the default of 2.5"x3.5" anyway.

Did that recently also. There are just some letterboxes we don't feel comfortable looking for.

That and Texans' fetish with guns. I'm fairly certain the clues were a middle school student's.

When they vary in size, they might just be what we used to call quisps... little extras, which could be any size, given as surprises. Sometimes people hide them under the taped address label, etc. But, yes, in a tracker if is says inchie, they mean 1 inch. Twinchie, 2 inches, etc. For the one inch ones, most of use use 1 square inch punches. Makes it so easy!

I'm on the third version of WW since I started. Unfortunately I haven't really been doing anything with it for 6-12 months. The boyfriend also was doing it but this new system caused him to quit and look elsewhere for weight loss assistance.

I'll probably be getting back to it Tuesdsy. That's my scale day. Joy. >_<

Well go with this ... Maybe it says limited time because of the first clue which mentions take the lot - and possibly a middle school aged child spelling loot wrong ?
Maybe this is why it's limited time whoever finds it first game over - its designed to have the first finder take all
