Ok. Now, my 8 year olds want to go on a trip to get the Antarctic box because, "at least its not in the woods."

These are great guidelines and It can get really hot in AZ. Having recently moved to the middle of America I finally found out what a dry heat was as they use to say all the time. Maybe I got used to it being 110° give or take. When we moved to an area with lower temperatures I thought it would be great for hiking. 80° in Minnesota makes me sweat three times more than I ever did in 110° AZ.

So as strange as it sounds I found hiking in AZ heat more comfortable(as in my body staying drier) than I do living with humidity. Just remember to wear sun screen and drink lots of water. A good hat will help out as well.

Tent suggestions?

We are in the market for a new tent, since hubby doesn't know his own strength....
He wants to get one of those L shaped tents with the two or so rooms by Ozark.
I know nothing about them except we saw one on a camping trip and he thought it was cool. It is an online only product.

I am wondering if this is the best option? He wants space, to be seperate from the kids, and to be able to stand up inside the tent. He says if we want him to go camping with us, he'll go more often if we have a huge tent....

But, he does work weekends, so if the kids and I want to go during the school year, we won't need a humongous tent. We do have a small one, but we have outgrown it.

Does anyone have suggestions on a good tent that you don't have to put all they way up, or have seperate rooms or parts that you can put one up and not the other? I hope someone understands what I'm asking...

or would it be better just to go ahead and get two different tents?

TIA!

The one I have is from Walmart. I got it several years ago, but I think you can still get it. It is essentially two six person tents that zip together. You can banish the kids to one, but still have access to them through a very short tunnel. The tunnel zips closed when the other tent is not there, so you can leave one tent at home when you don't need it (just make sure you have all the parts you need when you do that). I go camping with the boy scouts and always take my own tent, so I don't need both of those huge tents and always leave one at home.

I believe you, but I just tried a few searches and didn't come up with it. Would you please post how you were able to do the search and the results.

Thanks.

If you want some that aren't "in the woods" I can plant in a marsh for you. ;-)

A simple search for "Antarctica" should get the job done, but make sure that you haven't selected to hide old last finds (it has none!) or to ignore abandoned boxes (the owner hasn't logged in since 2008) because those will cause it not to show up.

If the power players get sent home, then you end up with second string players at the end, people who didn't really play the game, they just stayed under the radar or got lucky. Like Keith in his previous (San Juan) season - he didn't really play or strategize, he just stayed in the background and voted for whomever they told him to.

There are different ways to "play the game" on survivor, one way is to win immunity, like Joe has done this season. On Survivor San Juan, Keith wasn't lucky to win 3 individual immunity challenges and find a hidden immunity idol, he was (is) a real physical threat. While most of the current tribe were really suffering and complaining about the rain, Keith was effectively saying, let it rain. So is he weak or strong?

Also don't forget this is a TV show first, the producers can and do manipulate the game and what makes the air; there is no such thing as "reality" TV.

Speaking of manipulation, the producers didn't want to lose several people to the weather instead of tribal consul, so they figure out a way to build a good shelter for the players.

I just did what Ryan suggested--popped up a simple search, typed in "Antarctica," and got this.

Yes, a bit obvious but okay to keep the game going.
I wish they had said it must be unanimous, they could discuss it for one minute, then do the black/white vote.

happily drive-by a drive-by box

Not really me unless it's an obvi. Some drive bys have been quite engaging.

who don't particularly enjoy tabletop boxes, and would happily pass them over if it meant more time to talk and exchange with others

Can I pass by both?

Hello All, I decided to replace the elf and make this series available again for the month of December and January. It was the only one missing when my daughter and her husband went to find them and pick them up for me. He just recorded the finds in September. They don't have a lot of time to box. Obviously. Happy Holidays to all.

Last year - Christmas and the weeks before it were less than happy for me. I spend a great deal of time at work - and it was hell last year. This year - I'm determined to not let that happen. I've moved to second shift - which will be a change - but just for 3 weeks. But I'm also going to spread good will in my department. For the last few days I've been folding paper stars with quotes I've written inside. I'll be spreading them around for first shift later this week... I'm thinking of cutting out paper snowflakes next...

I'm determined to spread goodwill this year - not misery... suggestions on other ideas I can do would be greatly appreciated : )

Along the same vein of paper stars with messages- I recently received the coolest LTC by Kiss'n Karin from Lrosem's hexagon swap. Check out "hexaflexagons"... Maybe you can find a good YouTube video? I'm totally mesmerized.

Can you make a game? Fill a plastic pretzel container, or other larger plastic container, full of dried beans, but also put in about 20 or 30 tiny Christmas related items. So when you tilt the container, you see bits and pics of the items, but it will be hard to see all of them because the beans fill most of the jar. Items could be ornament hooks, ornaments, ribbon, bows, candy canes, wrapped candies, a piece of Christmas tree, spare Christmas lights, Hanukkah ornaments or dradels, gift tags, etc.

Then have people try to figure out all the items and write them down. Whoever finds all the items first, or finds the most items, wins a small prize.

Too soft and crumbly, doesn't hold detail, doesn't hold up well in the outside environment or with many people stamping it. I didn't care for it. However it is good for kids to practice on or for less detailed stamps, like what you might use to decorate paper or mixed media projects, etc.
