If you are looking for some awesome stamps then I suggest that you look for boxes by Boots Tex - great carves and wonderful history lessons. And if you are in the Houston/Spring area I would make time for this box - http://www.atlasquest.com/showinfo.html?boxId=61829
Have fun!

Jade Dragonne and another puzzle piece tracker!

Anyone up for a Jade Dragonne pin-ups tracker? Her images are child friendly, but a few cute ones are a little more risque.

The "huff" is a special letterboxing move. It is not blowing on stamp, that will just dry the ink. Remember fogging up the window with your breath on cold days, so you could draw funny pictures or write your name? That's it.

I'm going to switch them out for a new series this spring. So if you plan to hunt them, please get them by Dec 31. Thanks. I planted them for someone else who's not letter boxing anymore, and the barely get found anymore, so it is time. The Zatanna box is especially nice carve.

Thank you! We took a short vacation a week ago and went to Shenandoah National Park to see the fall colors. It was very nice.
We got the opportunity to go trick or treating with our granddaughters this Halloween. Fun, fun, fun :-)

Thanks everyone!
I really appreciate it!

We compromised last night, and took a friend T or T in the neighborhood rather than taking said friend to a family members' house. I felt bad letting family down, but I couldn't deal with that added layer of people and drama and driving; and she couldn't deal with going without me.

November box of the month
Board: State: Minnesota
Nov 1, 2015 4:31pm
Thread Board
It is now available.

I joined a box of the month ring for next year so we will see carves from 11 other people from out of state. Very exited about this as I was trying to noodle out how I could get carves from out of state for us to see- love when I don't have to reinvent the wheel. As it is a ring there will also be a interim box from the 27th of the month to the 5th of the next month. I would love to have carves form each of you- maybe a themed series of 12 for in between when the box of the month is in transit.

Any ideas for a theme- I am open, after all this box is about some quick fun for my friends and getting to meet some new letterboxers.

If anyone would like to carve December's box of the month please let me know. I do not have anything planned yet.

And that truck is quite the hide! Best part of planting in super busy areas like that, at least in my experience is people are so wrapped up in the busy-ness of it all they usually don't notice. Unless you're me and two guys driving by in a newer truck holler at you as you're bending over "lookin for the letterbox?" No idea who they were, either.

I haven't made that trip yet, but once you get here, we can probably set you up. Things we have done with guests in the past: downtown cemetery tour (Glenwood cemetery), Memorial Park -- Jack Brooks has many boxes. If you let us know when you get here, we'll arrange for a meet-up.

Texas Clipper, Bishop's Palace Revisited, First President of Texas (LbNA), Bolivar Lighthouse (LbNA), Borden Oak (LbNA), and the Galveston Railroad Museum all fit your criteria for regionally inspired or historical. If you give me an idea when you'll be here, we can arrange a meet-up. I'll also take you around in case your reluctant companion wants to do something else. :)

There are more geocachers so naturally there are more possibilities for a bad reputation. But there have also been some letterboxes that have had the bomb squad called on them.

This may be true. Fortunately, at least for the bomb squad thesis, it simply isn't. At least not materially.

A simple google search of "bomb squad" letterboxing, query as follows --

https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=%22bomb+squad%22+letterboxing&start=10

The first link (c 2010, Midland TX) describes a geocache --

https://ontariocacher.wordpress.com/geocaching/would-asking-permission-stop-bomb-squad-calls/

The eighth link (c 2012, in Disneyland), also describes a geocache --

http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/Disneyland-Shut-Down-For-Suspicious-Item-141295473.html#

The sixteenth link (c 2008, Toronto, ON), describes 1 letterbox, 2 geocaches, and 2 objects of unknown tribal origin --

http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2008/08/01/when_police_join_the_treasure_hunt.html

None of the other links on the first 2 pages, at least as I could tell from the summary, described actual bomb squad events. Your search results may vary.

So, you would think, if "some letterboxes had the bomb squad called on them", more than one object identified as a letterbox would show up in the first 2 pages of the query, after 17 years, cause it seems like big news, at least to me. You would also think, if the poster did his homework, he would point out that 5 times as many objects described as geocaches also had the bomb squad called on them. However, the quote attempts to paint quite a different picture.

The numbers, in both cases, are not material, given the numbers and the timelines of the games, so what is the point of bringing it up? Who knows? (Well of course I know, but that is a topic for another day ...)

So, cutting thru the BS, and the fishing line, as the case may be, lets just drop the tribalism and think of them as the same game. Cause, you know what, not only are they the same game, the people who actually matter, the park people, the muggles, the people who could make things miserable, certainly think they are.

If its OK with you, I wouldnt mind donating the two stamps carves for the tracker I dropped to someone for the jadedragonne revisited. The stamps are pretty ok, but I had trouble making cards with them. If someone wants them they are welcome to them. :) I did her princess and the frog and little red riding hood.

I hope someone can use them, even if it isn't for the tracker. I am out of places to plant and I have lost my LTC mojo.
