We are visiting family in NJ and were able to stop and get this box:

Valley of the Kings
http://www.atlasquest.com/boxes/clue/?boxId=177935

We were quite surprised to find that no NJ natives have found this box! It is such a beautiful location (especially with the fall colors) and very family and pet friendly. It was an enjoyable find from all aspects!

Next time we're in the area we hope to make it to Titusville :)

I'll have to check it out next time I'm in the area letterboxing. Most of the NJ boxes I have looked for have been big fails...but I tend to go a little NE of that area, and letterboxing seems to be rather dead up there.

I thought this was a pretty cool article, it managed to make me pretty homesick! I lived near a lot of these spots, but fondly remember "ghost hunting" with friends at the Spyhouse when we were teenagers.

Btw- I'm planning on visiting family (in Monmouth and Ocean counties) at some point in the new year- I'm hoping to be able to meet up with some of you guys!

Hello out there!

I'm visiting New Jersey for about ten days. I'd like to hop on the AT for a little bit, just to say I did. Can anyone recommend an easy hike that includes a bit of the Appalachian Trail? I'm staying in Princeton, so I realize I'll have a bit of a drive to make, but that's ok. Maybe a meet and greet would be fun too!

The Dunnfield Creek area of the Delaware Water Gap is probably one of the easier sections but can be very crowded on the weekends. If you’re up to it I would recommend the 3.75 mile hike up to Sunfish pond.
A little farther north near Millbrook Village are some easy access points. The AT crosses Route 602 at the top of the ridge. From there it is a 1.25 mile hike to the Catfish Fire tower.
Also at the end of Blue Mountain Lakes Road near Skyline Drive the AT is easy walking and has some nice views to the east.

Have fun!- The Cross-Tie Walker

NO!!!!

Pulling Boxtoberfest boxes???

I'm just aghast...

I would love to take a series off your hands, there are quite a few barren areas that desperately need boxes in the Windham & Hunter Mountain areas here in NY.

Please let me know...

I think I may come down for the day boxing, assuming I do, I'll bring my State Quarter stamps.

If you are looking to do some hiking along the way, there are a couple good hiking areas in the Parsippany/Boonton areas. This is where Rt 80 crosses Rt 287. If you are looking for drivebys, some of the rest areas west of Rt 287 may have boxes. If you have an iPhone or iPad, check Clue Tracker.

The Dunnfield Creek Natural Area at the Delaware Water Gap is a great place to stop and stretch your legs and grab a few easy boxes. Some more difficult boxes can be found along the way up to Mt. Tammany.
Although not in N.J. The area around Tannersville PA and Big Pocono State Park can also prove to be fruitful.

I am coming to visit NJ for 3-4 days in late Jan. early Feb. I don't know much about the state but I'm looking for attractions that might be good for 3 older woman to do besides boxing. I'm the only boxer but they will indulge me for a few boxes. So I'm looking for a few really memorable boxes also. Our plans are up in the air, we just know NJ and the appx. time frame.
Not sure of which part of the state, the exact dates, etc. We are looking for attractions and any outdoor short trip/attraction that is worth seeing. So come on NewJerseyites pump up your state.

Pakrat has some very interesting mystery boxes. Some are more difficult than others. Or you could read that easier than others. Some of them have been around a long time but he is pretty good about keeping up with the status. I've done some and have never been disappointed.

This site has some cool stuff. The sculpture garden in Hamilton Township has been on my bucket list for a while now.

There's not a whole lot of planting going on in Jersey but I have spent a fair amount of time going across the border from NY. lol

Oh......Scout just planted quite a few in Princeton! They should be great. Haven't made it there yet.

If you are going to be in northern NJ and want nice hikes, you want to check out boxes by Wing Foot. I have a couple boxes scattered from north to central NJ.

When you have a better idea where you will be, write another post!

I agree. We did that about 3am while driving up from GA to MA. I highly recommend doing it then for the extra creepy factor!
