New Event Listed- Calico Christmas

It's been awhile and I miss my letterboxing friends! My wife had the great idea to have it be at or near Calico Ghost Town, in Yermo, CA. I decided when better then on 12-13-14.

You will need to make your own arrangements for a camp site. There are many, many to chose from at Reservations for Calico There are also RV, cabins, and group bunkhouses. However if you are interested in staying the night I recommend you book now as they are slowly filling up. I am staying at the south end of the camping area near camp spot 52.

Sign-up for the event

The stamps and trails will be mining and/or Christmas related. You are not obligated to stay the night if you sign up.

I'll even add an incentive if you will be plant a box for the event and send me the clue (At least a week before the event). If you are willing let me know and I'll get started on your surprise.

I saw someone back east use Booster to crowd-fund shirts for the event. The minimum is 20, but I'm betting we can manage that. Anyone interested in creating the design?

Is there a way to get the logbook to open at the last settings used (Alpha/newest/oldest)? Every time I check my trackers or finds I have to change it from Alpha to newest first. It seems like it used to hold my preference.

I think it holds whatever you used last. But if you are looking for LTCs, and left it on alphabetical for that, then next time you look up regular boxes, it will still be stuck on Alpha.

Or has something changed?

I'm about 14 months away from 40. I don't pay much attention. They just keep sliding by. The Mrs' says I still act like I'm 12 when my family is around. 8-P

I have a logbook that I think I won during an event raffle. I'm getting ready to use it and I like to give credit where credit is due. If you remember making it please let me know so I can give you credit.

This is a 3.75 inch square fold out logbook cover. Inside is an accordion like insert for logging into. The insert is not attached to the cover. Both the cover and insert are pink. The outside of the cover has a pastel backing with a tiny pouch that has a cute little (sales like) tag with a blue tie attached. The pastel backing is blue and pink. The pouch has "got clues" written on the front. The tag and pouch are pink. Surrounding the entire logbook is a pink band with a cardstock button in the middle. The button is the same pastel cardstock as the backing.

This is an awesome logbook. If you know who made it or if you made it please let me know.

Could there be an option to remove completed trackers.

Example I have stamps on trackers, but they are complete. Would be nice for them to be removed

Thanks

It already does this. If it appears not to, I can only think of 1 of 2 possible reasons why:

  1. The information is stored as a cookie. If your browser clears your cookies automatically every time you close your browser or something, the feature isn't going to work. If this is the problem, you'll have to find the setting on your browser to not delete cookies automatically. (I've heard smartphones in particular are more likely to do this for security reasons.)
  2. Or you've bookmarked a link where the URL has the sort order specified. The sort order in a link will always override the cookie, and if you've bookmarked one and follow it, it'll always go back to what's in the URL. You can check for this by looking at the address bar in your browser after following the link and if you see something like "sortBy=alpha" near the end of the URL, that's the problem. Just edit your bookmark to remove that part of the URL. (If there is no sortBy specified, it'll default to whatever is stored in the cookie.)

Thanks to GT or Wassa - I assume one of you is responsible for making the device-friendly change that now allows me to see & use the edit and delete buttons on the Countdown widget on my iPad (see - someone did notice!!) Much appreciated, every time I DON'T have to log into the computer to update my changes!! AQ ROCKS!!!

You can tell it wasn't me because it doesn't prompt you with some snarky/silly comment or embarrassing bodily sound when you press the button.

You just haven't pressed the right button.

I really should rethink some of these responses...

I replaced my Palm Z22 with an iPod Touch. Those are currently selling for $250
I recently bought my son a Toshiba 7" Android tablet for $129.
I am currently using an Asus 10" Android tablet around the house that cost $250.
All three of these will do what you are looking for except for the stylus. You can even download a free Graffiti app for Android. I personally think that tablets are too big to carry around since I don't have a purse. But the larger form sizes are definitely better for typing on.

Good luck with your transition.

I'll try. Let's see if I can make it work. I've had this logbook quite awhile (I think) so I'm "pretty" sure it wasn't from the Indiana event. But I'm pretty darn old and sometimes I can't remember what I did a couple minutes ago.

start running laps around the parking lot at work, just to hit 10k before he does!

I always park far away. I'll leave the parking spaces up front for the old folks or those that think they just can't bare to make it that way. LOL
I know a lady (no one on AQ) and she pulls as close to the door where she works and gets one of her co-workers to move her car and at the end of the day, co-worker goes and gets her car and pulls it back up for her. I would say the whole round trip to park in the parking lot and walk to the door would be maybe and this is a BIG maybe .1 tenth of a mile. Yes that is right. It absolutely boggles my mind that she can't walk that far. She does not have any leg or feet problems... she is lazy. And I can say I know it as a fact, because she use to be my boss lady years ago.

I just signed up for the Santa Clara Parks for Life Challenge. The challenge runs from today, October 1 to the end of the year. I'm sitting at the table with a print out of the list of challenges drooling. I haven't been excited about something like this since I first started boxing. I can't wait to get out on the trails with my daughter. The best part, I'll be able to fit in letterboxing along the way.

I don't even care about the prizes, I just want to be out on the trails. Winning a prize would be fun but is definitely not my main motivator.

You, too, can sign up. Search for Parks for Life Challenge (because I'm too lazy to insert a link).
