so the results for May are in. I ended up being top female rider for our local area and second for the state. the men's results are twice the points as the females. the top two local riders really kept pushing each other along. 7 out of the top 10 for the state came from our area. It was fun, but i'm pretty tired now and need some rest days before my next big adventure. Issaquah duathlon on June 7.

No Bear worries here! It's always best to keep food packed in a cooler. We'll see about getting you one to use for the week. The only thing you'll find in our trees are birds and an occasional letterbox in the triple trunk type, but no dangling food stashes. Ticks and mosquitos are the biggest nuisance. I've never even seen a shunk or raccoon in the campgrounds. It's kept nice and clean. There's a couple of dumpsters for trash which helps keep the varmints away.

i think there are outlets in the restrooms, but I'll have to double check that for you. Car chargers work well, so you can probably get a charge from someone there. I live about five minutes away and can swing your phone by the house if you need a full charge and they'll probably help you out at the main office too - they LOVE to hear from out-of-state campers!

Bug spray is a must - Cutter works well. Grab a good headlamp too. Every site has a picnic table - a nice small portable battery-operated table lamp is convenient to have. It's usually quite warm here in July, but a wind-breaker can be handy if it gets cooler at night. Something waterproof is good to add, but we're thinking lots of Sunny thoughts!!! ;o)

Don't forget good comfortable hiking shoes. You'll be putting many miles on them! Anyone else want to chime in?

Group orders to split shipping helps - seven of us ordered 28 pieces, which dropped the shipping price per piece by $1 per piece. Still pricey, but totally worth it from my viewpoint - it's a dream to carve and stamp!

It is with a sad heart that I post this message; a message that some are already aware of.

Housepitality Hostess' husband was in a fatal car wreck in Joliet, IL while en route home to be present for their grandson's birth (May 31st) and to attend his youngest daughter's high school graduation (June 1).

H.H. has always relied greatly on the letterboxing community for camaraderie and support, so your prayers and thoughts for both the happy news and the tragically sad are appreciated.

I have been thinking about that lovely lady since I first read about this last night. She has touched so many with her smile, twinkle and talent. I feel better knowing with the many people she has touched, her support group is immeasurable.

AAFrog - thank you SO much for posting this and answering some questions.

Renae's new grandson, Jeremiah is beautiful - born to Noxer daughter Katie. Some will be familiar with the graduating daughter - she's Wickedly Tangled here on AQ.

So much sorrow and happiness in a short time period. She and the family need all the prayers and support they can get. HH is always there for everyone else and always does what she can to reach out to others. It's our turn to do the same for her.

Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

After verifying it may not be near the surface of its hiding place last summer, Pennsylvania's renowned Snowflake puzzle box is back in action....

For all I know the original may be down in the strata, so you may get more boxes than you bargained for.

Peace,

But we did leave it on the table in a ziploc bag.
The kids are supposed to put food back in the tote or cooler!
We have never had trouble with food that was closed up in a tote.

Our family has been reeling since we learned of the news yesterday. So much anguish and elation piled up on top of each other all in a 72 hour period has got to be next to impossible to maneuver through. Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with Housepitality Hostess and her family.

Pete,
We have already promised Sits-N-Knits use of our cooler, complete with ice, and it's real easy for us to come up with anything for camping on a last-minute basis. After all, we are going home to our comfortable bed every night, and a run to the campground takes us even less time than it takes you from your home.

That is awful news, especially since it was a completely avoidable accident on the trucker's part. She and her family will be in my thoughts. Actually, I wouldn't mind sending a note her way too.

I am so very sorry to hear this. HH recently participated in a swap to show support for a fellow boxer, despite her very busy schedule. I found that to be incredibly kind and thoughtful of her.

I'm wondering: is there any interest in an LTC swap that would show our community's support for HH in her time of need? I'd be willing to host it, if there's interest and if nobody else has already set up something for her.
