Yes, #3 is on my to do list. I've seen a lot of interesting places and met so many wonderful people in 2013. But this is by far on the top of my list of interesting moments. While boxing by myself at the River Legacy Park in Texas I encountered this. Definitely an awesome letterboxing moment for me! Looking forward to 2014!

150 Years Ago - Extreme cold swept across much of the North and South with temperatures below zero as far south as Memphis Tennessee and Cairo Illinois caused much suffering among the soldiers. Despite the cold skirmishing took place in a dozen locations from North Carolina to Tennessee to Arkansas.

HA!! I got the tax break by 6 hrs by having Alex on 12/31!! :D

He was actually due on 1/4 and I told the doctor that he WAS coming in December because I had a discussion with him in utero and we AGREED that he was coming in December! The doctor laughed and laughed and said that first babies usually come LATER. Well, he wasn't laughing when I turned to to be right! And of course, I reminded him of that! LOL!

Did you submit the one of him lying on the log to Ryan as a possibility for the calendar? That's a great shot!

Haha, I think Scouttrekkie's BOBCAT on a LOG, trumps it!

Holy cow, that picture is priceless!!! Do submit that to the calendar!

What freaks me out is you were by yourself, and still took those pictures! I think I may have left and come back later! Weren't you a little scared??!

> I make a great tour guide

Hmmm, whatever gave you that idea?

Amanda and I took a segway tour around West Seattle one time, and I corrected a couple of things our tour guide got wrong. Amanda said I should be taking him on the tour! =)

But really, the only thing people complain about when I take them around is that (apparently) I walk people "to death." (But I think they're exaggerating--everyone has had a pulse when I left them!)

Went boxing today too! Got 1 of the 2 we had hoped to find. Not as cold here, 45 degrees, but still not too many people out and about.

Happy new year!

Selected this tab this morning and nothing was there except the buttons on the right. Refreshed, logged out and in, clicked the link below the maps - it all ended up with a blank screen.

Yeah, I fixed a bug that someone found yesterday and caused the page to show up whenever someone without any steps (completely new members!) tried to view the page and I fixed that bug.

It had to be a pretty traumatic experience for those newbies! Imagine waking up to that page the first time you visit a website! =)

Anyhow, like I said, I fixed that bug, but unwittingly created a much bigger bug causing the page to show up as blank for everyone else. (Surprisingly, it didn't generate an error message on the site, so it didn't record the error so I never knew it was there. Worked fine on my development machine!)

But it should all be fixed now. =)

I'm a little stunned at the sheer number of new members who've signed up in the past week. I usually get 2 or 3 people (on average) signing up each day, but in just the last 24 hours, there have been 17 (seventeen!) signups!

And for anyone who hasn't created a Walking 4 Fun account yet.... the 3-digit ID numbers are almost full! We're up to member #942 and the last 58 3-digit IDs look to fill up very quickly! Grab yours while you can! =)

January 1, 1864 - "Market Quotations" in Middle Tennessee, an excerpt from the diary of John C. Spence

Money-Green backs "all the go." Union and Planters 40 dis[count], Bank Ten[n.] 45, gold worth 60 premium. Southern money worth 25 on the dol.

Just in case, I'll interpret:

Northern paper money is all the go. The Union and the Planters discount it by 40%, the Bank of Tennessee by 45%; gold is worth a 60% premium over the dollar, while Confederate paper money is worth 25 cents on the dollar.

Confused, you should be. Question: If a greenback dollar is worth 60¢ and a gold dollar is worth $1.60, what dollar is worth $1.00?

Submitted for your confusion,

Old Blue

We just got our 100th find 12/31/13 so for 2014 my goals are to plant the carves I've been doing and find 200 boxes this year. We found our first 100 in 6 months so I'm thinking 200 might be do-able :) I also want to go to at least one big event if I can this year.

It's the same reason gym memberships sky rocket this time of year, New Years Resolutions. There will be all these people walking on the trails and then there will be all these frozen balloons on the trails for people who have stopped recording steps a few weeks down the road.

Southpaw and I did a chilly (25 degrees F) but very nice 2.5-mile hike to find some new boxes today. Our area is supposed to have a snowstorm tomorrow through Friday, so when I saw the clues to these boxes pop up this morning, I called Southpaw and said that we'd better head out before they're buried under a foot of snow!! Thanks for planting them, ThimbeLinda and TallDave!! :^)

O-Wire capacities?

Hello

Somewhere in my brain I seem to have a recollection of seeing a chart that indicated how many sheets each size of O-Wire can accommodate but now I can't find it in the AQ tutorials or on the Binditall website. And it's not in the user manual that came with it....though mine is a used BIA so maybe it didn't have all of the original inserts. Hopefully someone here knows what I'm talking about and can point me in the right direction. Thanks!

Peace and happy 2014
