Not just you. I had boards showing last night with new messages that I hadn't gotten to yet--about twelve boards.

This morning it shows six of them and NOT the ones I consider the most important, such as the NC board. There was an update late last night and I'm sure the Great Green One will fix everything up when he's awake.

The boards that are still showing in my feed have no messages newer than a date of June 24.

Thought that might be significant in why the other, more well-traveled boards in our lists aren't showing up.

A few months ago on a trip I found a soaked logbook. The L&L that I used to replace the broken box was smaller than the original logbook. After a few weeks in the freezer I took it out and it was damp but not soaked and I could separate the pages. I put a small square of paper towel between each page and put a heavy book on top. The next day I replaced the damp paper towels. It was finally completely dry and flat and I sent it back to it's owner.

I have to agree with Amy. I "fall behind" on letterboxing routinely. I'll go for a year with hunting and hiding, then nothing for a year or more. It's okay.
Sending good juju to your daughter and would love to attend an event if you schedule one! I haven't been boxing in the springs for a long time! :)

There was a maintenance update last night at 1 AM eastern. Something probably went pear-shaped and Ryan will get it fixed once he wakes up.

There are people commenting on the About Atlas Quest board too.

The only favorite boards that still show up for me right now are ones whose newest messages are a couple of weeks ago.

Some basic and authentic curry or noodle dishes would be excellent ;)

I don't know about "authentic" but here is a great recipe for Eggplant Green Curry
2 Japanese eggplants cut in bite sized pieces
2 1/2 T green curry paste 3 Kaffir lime leaves
1 can coconut milk 1 lemongrass stalk cut in pieces
1 can bamboo shoots 1 T brown sugar
1/4 c Thai Basil leaves 1-3 Thai chilies, depending on heat preference
1 red bell pepper sliced into sticks 1 T fish sauce
Cook eggplant in oil over high heat tell lightly brown and insides soften. Remove from heat, set aside.
Place 1 T vegetable oil in pan over med heat and add curry paste--it will cause oil to spit--for 20 to 30 seconds. Add half of the coconut milk and mix, simmer for 2-3 minutes. Add the lemon grass, Kaffir lime leaves, fish sauce, brown sugar, and remaining coconut milk and bring to boil. Add bamboo shoots, cooked eggplant, and bell pepper. Cook for 4-5 min. Stir in chilies and basil and remove from heat. Serve over rice. **Note: Oriental food store is a good place to buy the lemongrass and lime leaves.

Just because that is the order you got the find notices doesn't mean that's the order it was found. Perhaps the second finder logged their find first and mentioned the HH. Or perhaps they just found it together and one took longer to log it.

Under "Favorite Boards" on My Page, it says nobody is posting. Considering the new Nevada theme, I find that rather unlikely. Is there a glitch?

You can substitute sweet basil if you can't find Thai basil.
When I typed in the ingredients they didn't run together like they did when it printed out. Hope you can read the ingredient list ok.

Looks like what we will have to do till Ryan wakes up is keep clicking on the Recent Messages button to see if any new messages have come in. Or just watch that area for those we have not read. We will still miss some if we have to leave and come back later, however. Probably.

Blacklists don't really block anyone--they just generate more accounts so people can get around the blacklists. And more than one feud has started on AQ because someone found out they were on a blacklist--which kind of surprises me since they didn't even like the person who blacklisted them in the first place. "Why do you even care? You don't like their boxes!" "It's the principle of the thing!" *shaking head*

Not if they don't realize they're being blacklisted. (And in this case, they didn't. They raced around all week following your removal of the blacklists last year, grabbing all the "new" boxes. And doing a piss-poor job of rehiding, as I found when I went to check on my boxes.) These are people who've been here for years, found over a thousand boxes, planted fewer than 100, and despite several attempts at intervention, can't be arsed to take the slightest bit of care with other people's boxes.

I understand that some people were too free with the blacklists, and some people got their feelings hurt. But they did serve a purpose, and used correctly, the (very few and judiciously chosen) people on my list had no idea. I didn't block them from all my plants, just ones where they were apt to do more harm. There were boxes I planted and left visible to them, as well.

But now? I seriously have no desire to plant. I realize boxes go missing, but I want them to have as many finders as possible before they do, and when people come along, eager to be first, and rehide so they're visible, leaving baggies and pouches open, and just not giving a crap, since they've found it, it's hard not to get pissed and not want to do this anymore.

I guess I don't see why we couldn't have them back on a case-by-case basis. Something where we'd have to explain our reasoning to you, to keep people from being jerks. I saw my blacklist as a tool, not a means of being petty.

Not if they don't realize they're being blacklisted.

Nobody realizes it at first. It's just a matter of time before they hear about a box, or box with an unrestricted friend, or see a stamp in someone's book, or create an alias for some reason, or any of a hundred different things that might clue them in. Of all the people who discovered they were blacklisted, absolutely none of them knew it at first. It was just a matter of time before they discovered it.

And if you don't like how someone rehides your boxes when they aren't mad at you, just wait and see what happens when they do get mad at you. Blacklisting people tends to escalate problems, and the only reason I even added it in the first place was because I thought an empty blacklist could actually be useful so I grudgingly allowed it. But now with groups, that's not even necessary.

I guess I don't see why we couldn't have them back on a case-by-case basis. Something where we'd have to explain our reasoning to you, to keep people from being jerks.

That sounds like it would be about as much fun as being a judge in traffic court. I'm sorry if some other people ruined things for you, but it's not the first time and won't be the last time I make a change that affects everyone because of a few bad eggs.
