Whew! I am glad that Mama Wolf posted because I was started to become concerned with her silence...wondering what she was planning in retaliation of this talk to "subdue" her!

Egg started out as a 36" balloon which by the way barely fits thru the doorway into house after blowing up with air compressor. Paper mâché . About 6 layers of regular strips of newspaper and then a coat of regular computer paper. Quick spray of non glossy white paint. Affixed ribbons as straps with washers so they wouldn't rip or pull thru. Costume for chicken was white sweatsuit dyed yellow with feathers sewn on. Bought beak and head piece. I can't stop laughing at how cute it turned out. The Mrs. did it all, I only came up with idea. FP is now 10, just hope she doesn't get too old for these great times anytime soon.
We handed out full sized candy bars again this year. I still remember how special it was to get those when I was a kid. Great to hear " oh wow, big candy bars". 158 trick or treaters this year. Great street to live on, lots of kids. Friends come over with their kids for eats, beverages and to hit our neighborhood. FP has been cupcake, pizza, French fries. Can't wait til next years homemade costume.

I've actually been really busy boxing the month of October! I attended 3 events in a month! That's a record number for me! Plus I hit F2000 with Tigs over the weekend on a fantastic X Marks the Spot box!! I even got to talk to X after finding it. Sooo awesome!

He (kanoshee) does letterbox some. He does not always list his finds. But I don't think he'll have time to box. He's working 12-15 hours a day. And of course sleeping the rest.

Interesting question...

I don't think I need to like the characters or find the story believable if something else is compelling about the book. I'm thinking of A Clockwork Orange, for example. I didn't like the characters, in fact I found the main character pitiable, but the story was compelling. Other books that have a character that I grow to like helps carry me through a book with a less enjoyable storyline.

There are two weeks left to sign up for the Secret Stamp Santa Swap (say that 5 times fast!), and about a month to carve a stamp for it. All the detail are on the tracker (see the link). There is no limit to the number of sign-ups, as each person will be sending to one other person. All are welcome, even new carvers. :)

If you sign up, please don't forget to send me your address right away. It will save me from having to contact you later asking for it.

No hike scares me!!!!!

Um....
it's not the hike thats the scary part.... I'm jus sayin.

I remember.... hiking the Piedmont Prarie trail in High Point with Mama Wolf.
We found quite a few letterboxes and had a few adventures..... (like the brown triangle escapade)...... I nearly fell in the lake .....
I walked like Fred Sanford while cemetery boxing at days end..... we STILL went to the upscale restaurant for dinner....
got some interesting looks there.....

When I got home, there were messages on the AQ NC board.... "Has anyone heard from Dina B. ?? I hope she's OK".....
"Does anyone have Dina B's number to call her ?? "
"You know how Mama Wolf is .... I hope Dina B. survived"....

I did almost fall in the lake and look like Fred Sanford...... but I count the day as one of my most memorable in Letterboxing.
Maybe it was the HUG.

Dina B.

Thank you so much. I was just walking past the car and saw the box. Pleasantly surprised to have to use a color other than black that particular day.

.....for 2013.....yes, tool late. .....

But it's never too late to send in pictures for the calendar......even though the rumor is that we won't need one after 12/21/12.....or something like that. My job is still expecting me to show up in 2013 so I'm sending in more pictures for the 2014 calendar!

Yes, but Ryan has been back in the country for a couple weeks now, and since the official Project X page lists a deadline in 2013 (which would be for the 2014 calendar), it's safe to say it is too late to submit anything for the 2013 calendar.

I want to see how many requests for tinkering you can put in before GT bangs his head against the wall.... :)

That sounds like a challenge! Hmm.... let's see....

Be careful. there's a very fine line between GT banging his head against the wall, and GT banging your head against the wall.
