It's not likely to be published for a couple of years, at least. My partner and I both write a new manuscript during Nano. Then we send them to the bottom of the list, because editing is easier after you let the manuscript sit for a while and you can look at it with new eyes. It takes approximately seven months to take a manuscript from rough draft to published. We overlap that a little bit, and aim to publish two books per year. However, we have a small backlog built up, and are working on that first. Make sense?

The very tentative and self-imposed publication schedule goes something like this:

10/24/12 The Siege of Kwennjurat (Fantasy; sequal to Tanella's Flight)
4/15/13 Words Can Never Hurt Me (Suspense; contemporary sf/political thriller)
10/1/13 Mind Touch (Fantasy; involves telepaths)
Stories without firm dates:
The Castle Project (Suspense; I think it involves a serial killer)
Sirens in Her Heart (Romance; contemporary, involving an ambulance attendant)
Bits and Bites: Fun Size Stories (Short story collection, everything from sf to romance to horror)
Crown of Tears (Fantasy; this is the one I just finished writing)
Killer Stamps (Suspense; involving letterboxing)

Also, these are the working titles; the only one that is definite is The Siege of Kwennjurat.

Can't Log My Find

Back in June, my son and I found a stamp hidden outside of the Waco Mammoth Site in Waco, TX. We were hesitant to look for it at the time because it involved crossing over a decorative type fence and we were unsure if we would be trespassing. Since then, I have been unable to find the letterbox on Atlas Quest to record my find. I had intended to suggest to the planter that it be moved outside the fence, to a more public area. Was the box removed? And if so, was it because of it being on private property? At this point, my curiosity just simply needs to be sated. LOL Thanks for any who have info on this!

The Cape is my favorite place in the world to go letterboxing, and I would love to attend an event there - next summer! I have to work all weekend, but with a little more advance notice, would be thrilled for the opportunity. Also, would love to meet the great Cape carvers whose stamps I've found over the years - and say thank you!

Do an advanced search and be sure to specify you want to see all boxes, including retired and old/missing boxes. There are a series of check-boxes you can check and uncheck on the search page. Possibly the box was retired or had too many attempts listed. Or, the Planter may have put a restriction on it. Or it may have been listed on letterboxing.org instead of AQ.

You're killing me here!

(pun semi-intended due to today's clue!)

I don't know that what I need right now is one more postal, but I need to figure this out and solve it on my own.... Which feels less likely with each passing clue... *sigh*

I hope you found my suggestions humorous at least.

Acid free paper will yellow over time.

That's backwards. I'm sure you know that but just wanted to make it clear. I have drawings and prints on acid free paper that are unframed that are 30 years old and there is no change in color except where oil or other substance has contacted it. If that paper had been acidic, it would be brown now.

In terms of lasting. You have to think just how long do you want the log book to last. Even acidic paper, which is the majority of the paper in note pads, will hold up for 10 years or more easily. Newsprint, which is highly acidic, turns yellow in the sun in a matter of hours, but will remain intact for several years before it begins to get brittle.

I use acid free 60-80# drawing paper when I make a log book, but that's just me.

someone will explain why they put the do not remove tags on pillows?.

That's so the tag police can see if you removed them. They raided my appartment two years ago and inspected all my pillows. I escaped capture but just barely.

Now that is one ring I HAD to jump in on! Especially with how far away it is. THis will give me plenty of time to think about what to give away. I am in so many LTC swaps between now and then that I MAYend up recycling one or more LTC carvings this way.

Can I make one small suggestion? I think you should require that the stamp(s) you take be planted(or released as a HH, or repurposed as a PT). I know there is no way to police that. But it should be the reason someone is taking your stamp. I carve so many stamps, and I want to see my carvings acctually used. I know I would be pretty excited to see one of my stamps planted half way accross the country for people to enjoy.

Then if THEIR log book doesn't show it, THERE may be something wrong...and maybe THEIR box was removed by them and the listing was taken from THERE...and THEY'RE responsible for all this.

Things are getting back to normal, slowly. We have power, and a lot of the storm debris in our area has already been cleared up...downed trees cut into sections and stacked, leaves and small branches raked, etc. No mail service yet, but I'm hoping for that today.

I share the pain too. Several years ago, we had some dirt bikers/atvers use our private road (no trespassing signs everywhere) to get to the Shenipsit Trail in the Meshomasic. The first time we tried to confront dirt bikers about being on private property, they merely went by us and even gave my mom the finger. The second time, I was alone on the private road, hiking up to the Shenipsit. These dirt bikers were nicer and apologized. They didn't come back, though I think they started to use our neighbor's private road up the street. It got so bad with the dirt bikers and ATVers that we had to spend thousands of dollars putting up locked farm gates all the way up to the Shenipsit. However, this has cut down the motor traffic on the Shenipsit, and erosion has been lessened.

I wish there were more "no motorized traffic" signs on the trails. It would give us a little leverage when they say, "Oh we didn't know that we couldn't ride here...".

Grrr... sigh

My daughter did something like this as a door to door "bigger or better" scavenger hunt with her youth group a few years ago. They ended up with a giant teddy bear! I read a book written by Canadian man who started out in 2005 with a paperclip, and one year later had traded up to a HOUSE! His name is Kyle MacDonald and the book is called "One Red Paperclip" . It was a fun read. Here is a wikipedia list of his trades:
