Feel free one and all to orphan some boxes in my area, I'll take care of them!

Oddly enough, I very rarely get offers to adopt any of my boxes. Doesn't bother me much, but I am a bit surprised. I'd think that more boxers would be up for adopting boxes in their area. That's something even newbies can do, before they've built up enough confidence to plant their own boxes.

Are there any boxers that frequent the Brewton area? I'm thinking not, since I didn't find any boxes listed there. Still, on my way through today I stopped at the airport S of town, and it's a beaut! There was an aerobatic club there, and they were taking turns flying around in the sky doing loops and rolls while others on the ground chatted with them via radio and told them how they were doing. Wanted to plant one of my airport boxes, but alas we were pressed for time and I didn't see a convenient hiding spot right off. Plus, it'd probably be better to check with the administrator of the airport itself, presuming it'd end up on airport property, and I didn't have time to go through that.

I can also report that just up the road -- just within the town limits of East Brewton -- is one of the best BBQ joints we've ever visited, a place called Hog Heaven. Simply awesome ribs. The wife described the ambience: "As soon as you walk in, you think the food's gotta be really good!" They clearly didn't spend anything on overhead.

Anyhow, if you're up for planting a box for me within walking distance of the Brewton Municipal Airport, drop me a note. Thanks!

there are 3 planters in the state of NC that are in the 250 Hall of Fame planting category

Soooooo tell her you are in Mooresville and then bait her with some interesting historical tidbits. ;)

Is that all we have to do? Hi, I'm Turtlelove, and I'm in Denmark...I will be planting many boxes that have historical tidbits...

Now, come and get them!!!!!!!!! :o)

Happy New Year, Michigander letterboxers!

My wonderful husband gave me a gift of several letterboxing days this past week and after completing my visit to Bellaire, MI, I checked my find total and I now have over 1400 finds, most of them in Michigan. So thanks to all of you planters for the fun I've had discovering Michigan!

Now...I'd like to challenge and encourage you to plant in 2012 so I can reach 1500 finds without having to drive 2 hours (not that I don't enjoy visiting those wonderful spots of our great state) :). It would be wonderful if boxers from around Michigan could plant boxes within an hour of Grand Rapids. Kent county, Allegan county, Ottawa county, Muskegon county, Newaygo county, Mecosta county, Montcalm county, Ionia county, Eaton county, Barry county, Kalamazoo county, Van Buren county....lots of choices!! If you haven't planted before, here's your encouragement! If you haven't planted in awhile, please do so again! If you haven't planted in this part of the state, we welcome your stamps! And, while you are planting a box or two, you could find some of the wonderful plants in the area as well.

So, no rush. You have 365 days left to do this. I do believe snow is finally coming sometime soon, so spend your winter thinking about what to carve, or digging through a drawer of already carved stamps to find the perfect plant.

Bless you all in 2012. I hope to meet more of you either on the trail or at an event.

Yes, did remind me of Junior's Castle. I'm so wanting to get back there and take a BEE of some kind, to put on one of the Alters. Neither Charlie nor Papaw have been there. Maybe this spring we can visit again !

As some of you know, I had major surgery in 2009, venomous spider bite with complications in 2010, and we topped off 2011 with a brain tumor. Altho I have not been able to be out on the trails of late, I still feel quite close and up to date with my favorite hobby thanks to AQ. The love and support I have and continue to receive from my letter boxing family has kept my spirits up and looking forward to a bright future.

With GRATEFUL thanks to you all!

What have your learned from AQ?
Board: Yakking It Up

I have learned alot of things thru letterboxing but one of the most useful in my everyday life, is the intense colors I see in nature on my walks. From pastels of spring to earth tones of winters, these colors I bring into my real world and end up using them to help me make my everyday choices in life.

Last month as I was getting ready for work, I choose an odd combination of redish/orange long sleeve v-neck, layered with a blue/white/gray overshirt. Sounds odd and I didn't understand why it went together but for some reason it did. It felt really nice. Then I stepped out my front door to do my barn chores and discovered the exact same color combination was in the sky as the sun was rising and peaking thru the clouds on our winter horizen.

Letterboxing is more than just boxes, more than meeting new people. To me, it's about change, and seeing the world around me change with the seasons and learning that people can also change. Thru the darkness, the sun will rise; the clouds will disappear, and if you look very closely, not only will you see the rainbows but you will be warmed in the bright sunshine.

Thank you AQ for bringing fun and adventure into my life and helping me to stop and smell the roses along the way. Your job here is so much more important than just a web site. You are touching and changing people lives everyday. Thank you.

My Dad and two brothers live in Atmore and my sister lives in Flomaton and another brother in Range. When I go down that way to visit, I often take 31 from Evergreen through Brewton, but I am not looking at making that trip again anytime soon.

If I see I'm heading that way I'll let you know far enough in advance if you still need a box planted.

I'm s l o w l y carving a stamp to plant in Atmore, for the next trip down, so it may be sooner than I think. I'll keep you posted.

I am headed to Savannah weekend of Jan 20th and the cemetery is where I want to go...didn't get to box in the cemetery last trip....going for a soccer tourney so if I can get to the boxes, I will be happy to grab the log book. Do I need to put a new one in the box or has someone done that already??

Yup, there's still over forty stamps available around the Veteran's Park.

Plus I've got one to add to the Iconic America series and another to add to the military medals series.
