Thank you so much for all the information.

You're welcome!

Postcard Tag looks like a lot of fun, but for now, I'm swamped with work (happily) and stuff around the house...

Could someone please get me a 12-step program for letterboxers who are addicted, and no longer just dabbling in this hobby . . .

I'm thinking that with close to 5000 finds, it's been a long time since you were "just dabbling"! :P

also the bigger the number of people in the swap the more potential for flakers and slow sends happens and the host might just be waiting on someone to get all of them in to send once. they should be keeping in touch with everyone so that people dont panic. Eventually, they do come in, even if well past the due date. It does sometimes happen that you never get them back. it's like sending your babies out into the world! Hopefully someone is enjoying them! :)

Out of about 100 swaps that I've been in, I've had 4 not come back. Two were by the same host and someone else redid both swap, so not all was lost. One was with a host that sadly blackholed A LOT of swaps. Now, I have had a number of swaps that took forever to be returned...some because of members taking a long time to finish cards, some due to "life getting in the way" for the host. Probably the best thing to do is choose swaps with either long time hosts, or, if the host is relatively new at hosting, check to see if the host has been in a number of swaps. That being said, take a chance now and then on a newbie host.

More than likely you'll get your cards back from both swaps. Just give it time and don't waste energy worrying about them too much.

Suggestions for a good ink

I just finished carving a stamp where the image is mostly negative space. (lot's of uncarved rubber with just some key areas carved out). I'm really happy with the stamp...my inks, not so much. Any suggestions on a good black ink? I've tried Staz-on Jet Black, Dew Drops Brilliance Graphite Black and Versafine Jet Black. None of them have given me a rich black with fairly uniform coverage. Any suggestions?

I really like Stampin' Up craft pad in black and the cheaper hobby shop Stampabilities pigment ink. I've had the same stamp pigment pad for 6 years...dark, bold and still inky.

Could it be the paper that you're using? Brilliance is the best black that I've used, but if the paper has some texture, or a lot of pores, you can get that spotted appearance.

I have cards that I stamped on two colors of paper, from the same pack, and one stamps up nice and the other does not.

All the clues were written with cleverness and flair.
The elves were busy making plans and taking care...
to preserve the magic of Event Clue lists...
must not reveal until the Mellow Mushroom visits.

The skaters, how they skated, were merry and, grey?
As the letterboxers laced up to hunt their prey.
It's $10 you see. So take a few friends.
It's the extremeness you seek and the fun never ends!

Come join the revelry ~ http://www.atlasquest.com/showinfo.html?gEventId=2251
If extremeness you seek and are okay
with an early morning 5k
the 1800 feet pummel the street
but we got that beat
we're mellowing out with magical mushrooms!

Be there to get your clues, and a ticket for raffles
of what it is will leave you baffled.
The fun goes all day and into the eve
as we munch on Steamboat sammies and take a reprieve..
oooooh what are those...chips hips and ships?

Speak of it now, tell your friends and boxers
let it be said that Elves have great knoc.... (keeping it PG)
Bring the unbelievers those sad little noxers to have fun
and spread cheer and they will hear:

Elves are on the Loose! Come ALL YOU BOXERS!!!!

does everyone go by their trail names at events? Or their real-world names?

Stick on name tags are furnished at most events, but come prepared with your own, just in case they are not available.

I make one that has our trail name in BIG letters and our given name in smaller print under it. You can even stamp an image of your stamp on it.

The easiest way to meet another letterboxer is to approach them by requesting an exchange or by discreetly giving them the answer to one of their PT's.

Events are LOTS of fun!! I prefer the 'meet and exchange' part of an event. If there are hidden boxes planted, I rarely get them at the time of the event, but prefer to go back at a later date to letterbox.

Yes they scream at me to mail them back out immediately but sometimes I just have to ignore them for a day or two.

Wow, I consider that a quick turnaround. I don't think anyone's concerned about a day or two. I, personally, turn things around much faster than I used to simply b/c I experienced how quickly they can build up and become a burden but I really don't care if they stop a week or two at a place as long as their moving. A month seems a little ridiculous to me but a few days is normal.

I had a few request to open it back up... I like to keep things straight in my mind...so I created a second ring.

This may sound whiney, and please accept my apologies if it does, but there's only 10 signups in the first ring and 15 in the second. Any reason? I would be open to having more in our first group if you are?

Has anyone else had trouble ordering from this site? My order from 11/4 hasn't arrived, and my order using the pre-black friday code is still "waiting on payment" even though paypal transaction went through during checkout.

Update: I eventually received the order that I placed with the pre-black friday code, but I never received the order placed on 11/4, which supposedly was shipped (but the tracking code is invalid). I've sent two more emails regarding this order and they've ignored both of them. I will have to try using paypal resolution.
