i transfer right away.
i would guess if you printed at normal and could protect it from smearing on the way home it might work. You'll have to let us know.

if you are going to print heavier than draft you may still get some smearing on pink, but it should be significantly less than with transparencies.

It is as if the parchment does absorb some of the ink rather than it all sitting on the surface.

hat day is when the AQ theme for the day is all kinds of hats. on that day, anyone can record finds for boxes not listed on AQ (LbNA or private sites).

Some people keep a list of these in their free flowing thoughts on the profile page so they will have it at ready for hat day.

I don't personally but several of my friends do and they swear by their eagles nest hammocks. Not that I could afford one but they love all the attachements like a rainfly and mosquitoe netting.

Our old generator had to be replaced. That was costly, but we were lucky to find one.

First off, what is a "solvent ink"? And where do you get it?

Staz-On is an example of a solvent ink.

Unfortunately acetone eats away at Pink Stuff :( I just trace my images and do the rub/transfer method. You can trace back over it with an ink pen, if you'r looking for crisp lines. Gotta like to draw though. I haven't had luck with Wintergreen oil, but some peeps do. Doesn't take much and I think it works easier on PZ Cut. Try it first on a little scrap.

've recently begun carving and have been using the pink stuff and inkjet transfers (w/acetone). It seems that stamps that are largely black remain sticky after they're carved and even after they're inked. Am I doing something wrong? How can I minimize/eradicate the stickiness?

I don't think you can use acetone on the pink stuff. You can do a transfer exactly the same way with oil of wintergreen in place of the acetone......maybe that would not hurt the pink stuff...or try the parchment transfer being discussed today on this board.

tips and tricks of the trade when it comes sleeping in a hammock.

INSULATION!!! Even on a reasonably "warm" night you need to protect against air movement stealing your body heat. Your sleeping bag's insulation that you are squishing beneath you will retain ZERO heat.

http://www.tothewoods.net/HammockCampingWarm.html

Check out this link in regards to the "keeping warm" problem. It's easily doable, but needs a different mind set than "on the ground" camping.

For me.......I've done both. I wake up with a stiff neck after sleeping in a hammock. I seem to fight against a slight side pressure on my head when sleeping diagonally in a hammock so as to lay "flatter". I don't like to try to string my hammock super tight in order to try and achieve the same thing. Also I've found that I can go MUCH lighter weight for my gear when sleeping on the ground. I'm more comfortable also. I still enjoy stringing a hammock for a nap or reading or just "swinging in the breeze", but if I'm backpacking.....I'm much happier sleeping on the ground. I do have many friends that prefer hammocks so give it a fair test.

The parchment comes off the roll with a nasty curvature to it.

Instead of buying a roll of parchment from the grocery store, you might try getting a sheet from a commercial bakery. Wholesale parchment for baking comes in "full sheet pan" size (roughly 16"x24"), and it's shipped and stored flat.
If you ask really nicely, you could probably get a sheet for free -- although retail parchment for home baking is a bit pricey, purchased wholesale it comes out to less than a dime per sheet (of course, bakeries purchase it in cases of 1,000 sheets).
I'm eager to try this method myself -- so far I've only carved stamps from hand-drawn designs, so I've pencil-traced and transferred using tracing paper. Never occurred to me to use parchment.
BTW, I've experienced that the slipperiness of parchment paper can vary depending upon the manufacturer.

I use non-acetone finger nail polish remover to clean my pink stuff first, then use a little liquid soap to wash and rinse, then use parchment transfer, hair spray after transferring, carve, soap-water rinse, dry, and use a sharpie to condition it for the ink to come.

We just went on the Franklins Footsteps walking tour in Philly today. We saw the major historic landmarks. It was really enjoyable. The only thing that could make it better is.... letterboxes. There aren't really any in the heart of Philly. So note to Philly letterboxers: GET CARVING and they will come!

I just introduced a few friends to Letterboxing. The guy said," This is crazy you are like Indiana Jones" I do tend to think of Indiana Jones while I'm letterboxing. But I think a lot about Ben Gates from National Treasure. Which one would make a better Letterboxer, Indiana or Ben?

I like Gorilla Glue. Spread a very thin layer onto the stamp (and I mean very thin because it expands and could ooze out where you don't want it!). Press the foam onto the stamp and place it carved side up with something weighty on top of it to dry overnight.

Heard this in second grade back in '87..
Q: How do you catch a mummy?
A: Dig a hole and surround it with peas.
Fill the hole with ashes. Then, when the mummy
goes to take a PEA, you kick him in the ASH-hole.

..I love Halloween and letterboxing.

Living in the northeast, I love fall..
The changing leaves, cool nights, apple cider. If you're from here, you get it.
My GF + I were out LB the other day in a local state park last wk. end, ( McConnel's Mill )
enjoying the cool temps and the sunset on a trail, with a box a few steps away.
We decided to go bushwacking, and then -F#@k!
A yellow jacket nest! Son of a beotch!
Almost a week later and my 7 stings are still hurting.

Just wanted everyone to keep in mind that the bees love this weather too.
Be careful out there guys!
