I forgot to relate one of the most endearing tales. We had a homemade chicken coop, and every evening at dusk the chickens would all file into the coop and then we'd lock the door to keep the predators out. Yes, an actual padlock; raccoons are amazing critters, a simple latch won't stop them. Every evening as SWMBO was rounding up the chickens, one of the last chickens we had, a Buff Orpington we named "Buffet", would circle around behind her and jump up and bite her on the butt. Then it would sit down and expect to be picked up and hugged before it'd go into the coop for the night.

Most of the chickens we had over the years met with bad ends as we live among raccoons, foxes, hawks, you name it. But we got better at protecting them, and Buffet lived six years and died of natural causes in SWMBO's arms.

Anyway, if anybody from the area wants to meet - let me know :-)

I might be able to make it. I'm heading down to SLO in a few hours, and that's only something like an hour and a half drive away. =)

I love it too!

Is the list of letterboxers in AZ based on a search of the locations people put in their profiles? Because I noticed that Doctor and I are included, but Heart Writer isn't - and we all three live under the same roof.

just fyi, I have IE8, and I can see the grand canyon just fine

You are correct -- I have done this in the past and you have to "delete" your traditional tracker and list a new LTC tracker with the info you want. If you can open more than one internet page -- open 2 atlasquest pages and cut and paste the info from your traditional tracker (in one page) and paste it in your new tracker (in the 2nd page). "Inspired by Nature" sounds like fun :o) Good luck!

Yep, Maine and Florida so that would be quite a drive from box to box! LOL!!

So basically we will plant the boxes as singles but in the clues we can mention "if you're in the area of XYZ look up the sister box to this" etc. Does that sound about right?

Early congrats on the anniversary, but the other stuff - I have sworn to support others in their de-cluttering efforts - GO, GIRL, GO! - while locking arms and NOT letting any of it in my house. Stuff is going OUT, not coming in.

What? All those letterboxing-related piles? Well, they're not STUFF. They are all extremely important, essential and unique artist-ready items that must remain displayed 24/7/365 so as not to be purchased again, and to be ready for use at any given nanosecond in that 24/7/365 timespan!

Does anyone know where the term "black hole" originated as it pertains to postal letterboxing?

It always seemed like a no-brainer to me: matter goes in, and nothing comes back out. Interesting though - I never really thought to wonder how we started using that term. I look forward to the results of your inquiry!

I think the Squirrels would really enjoy this one, kinda has an old school flavor to it.

BTW, I'd love to hear about some of the FSS's top picks too.

I would also recommend using epub.com. The epub format is easier for the nook to use and smaller than pdf files. They have most of the classics and some books from new authors. I am pretty sure all of the books are free there. I think you will need the calibre software in order to book the epub books on your nook, but it is worth it. (calibre is like itunes but for books and it's free).

Easy for YOU to say. Really, if I end up buying this stuff again, and paying more, well, I call that the "price of being me." Relatively speaking, I have some of the best impulse control in the family. Even as young as 10 we played, "auction, auction" and my younger siblings were the recipients of some cool, free stuff.
