So cool you guys found a might be missing box! Not a bad score for the day!

The 4 mile marker which was part of the clue, was gone. That's the reference point for counting steps. I notified the planter so the clue can be updated.

Pretty much ALL the clues had to be updated at the USNWC after the major trail renovations they did out there. It made all the clues obsolete but we did find all the boxes alive and well (just got to make them so they can be found again with updated clues!!).

Good to know! Certainly goes with the invisible plbs I've been getting from you lately. I'll keep an eye out for both.

We echo everything already said about this marvelous event. Kitty and crew pulled off another fabulous, fun day for fortunate participants. Frank and I had the best teammate ever in artTrekker. We had determined to just have fun and do our best. Who knew that we would hear those great words: You are first. Thanks to everyone involved. Just wish we had more time to visit with the other teams. Hope to see you all again soon.

I spoke with the head librarian. Bring the letterbox is a great thing because then the can see what you are talking about.

Good luck!

Visalia? Northern California?? Is that cuz it's further north than L.A.?

You laugh, but when I was growing up in San Diego County, we thought anything north of LA was northern. No joke.

I put a lot less thought and effort into the hitchhikers

Hmm. Maybe that's the difference right there. I *do* put a lot of thought and effort into my HHs, and I hear back from them regularly.

I never thought, until this thread, about someone ever wanting them returned. I don't really get the point in that.

At the back of all my HH logbooks, I have a message asking the finder to please email me if the logbook is full. Haven't heard back from anyone on a full logbook yet (not enough finds on them, I'm guessing). I plan on sending the finder a new logbook, and postage for them to send me the other one back.

Um, gosh, if you're referring to the Col. Sanders stamp, I did get it.

No, it was a request to help start out a new HHH. The problem is that I can't remember who I sent it to, and they've never responded that they received it.

I figured The Colonel would eventually show up on my "Donated" list. :) And the other sad part is that only about 1/3 of the stamps I've sent to people have ever been planted. Bummer. Some of those were really nice stamps!

All my quirks are custom carved as quisps but may become hitchers or fleas in the future. Right now, I like them too much to release them in the wild alone, but maybe one day....

I love Boston Terriers. But you do need to train them from pups and make sure they know you are alpha dog. Mine was a Bossy Terrier. She was a sweetie though and survived being drug around and sat upon by several small grandchildren. I would recommend one! Also as for chewing....I gave her a sock with a tight knot in it and she would chew until she unknotted it. She was not allowed to chew an unknotted sock. Teaching her that didn't take very long at all. Just be persistant.

I'm not too sure about those two characters with the back packs. It was a very good day. Great guide, saw fun stuff and perfect weather. Then, the finale, cobbler and ice cream. Doesn't get much better.

Has anybody ever had a hitch hiker returned after it has been set free in the wild?

Yes. I've have five HH's return and 2 cooties.
But I've done 105 HH/cooties total. :)

If you've only done 7 I suspect that my odds of something returning are better than yours.

Don't stress! It's the people I never hear from again on the boards, or via AQ mail, that make me sad. :( I figure if you're still active on AQ, it will be planted when you get the chance.

We have a park near the AR border called Natural Falls I think I will be heading that way this summer and I will plant then.

I thought we had a natural bridge here in Oklahoma but it must have fallen because I'm not finding any listing for it. or maybe I went to the one in Tx.

Are you kidding me? There are no boxes at all in Russia?

There are 2 in Kuwait, 3 in Afghanistan and 4 in Iraq -- but none in Russia?

Good grief people . . . get planting! :-)

Sure! This one is even easier.

4 boneless chicken breasts
1 bottle Franks red hot sauce
1 packet ranch

4 hours on high in the crockpot

I'll have to double check the time my power is out so I don't have access to my computer right now.

But that would not apply to purely store-bought.

I was proposing three different headings: "carver" for hand-carved, "designer" for custom-made, and nothing at all for store-bought.

I propose "Purveyor of Stampy Goodness".

How about "Blame for stamp:"?

Gee, I hope my percentage is better than that! Still, I know of quite a few that I shipped off years ago that were never seen again, and I'm a little afraid of actually going back through my records and counting up exactly how many! It wouldn't be so bad if I was shipping these things off to people as a surprise: "Here's some stamps! Go plant them!" All of these got sent to people who asked for them, or at the very least volunteered to plant them.
