So you smell smoke too when that happens???

Yes! It's the craziest thing...and I also hear a rumbling noise, like rocks in a jar.

I see AQ can't make up it's mind on the theme today and more than Mother Nature can about winter being over and spring arriving....LOL

Happy April Fools! New England got the biggest joke today.

Perhaps this gaseous situation is because the "Fearless Colon" is celebrating today.... two year AQversary!

I certainly hope so.

I emailed Lenny Lampel the Natural Resources Coordinator who’s office is in Charlotte in regards to any cicada research projects. He is spearheading a Cicada Watch for Mecklenburg County, NC. “Mecklenburg (and counties surrounding) residents are being asked to report findings of cicada activity, survey areas where emergences are expected, monitor locations throughout the emergence period and follow up on leads of cicada activity. To sign up or get more information, contact Lenny Lampel at 704-432-1390 or lenny.lampel@mecklenburgcountync.gov.”

Cool! That's where I live. :)

Since there are many boxes being planted in honor of preboxed today (yay!), and no naming rule to identify them, it might be rather difficult to see and read the clues of the many boxes planted for H.E.R.

So - just PREposing that we all put a link to the boxes we plant for this virual event here! :)

Here's mine: Uncharted HAIRitory: http://www.atlasquest.com/boxes/clue/?gBoxId=168534

An Idea for Memorial Pages
Board: Atlas Quest Announcements

Thread Board
Has anyone other than myself wondered of carvings of Nanni? I was just perusing her memorial page and it got me to wondering how many postals I had seen of hers, one, and only one, the newbie ring she and I were in together...and that was the only carving that I had of hers, ever...we shared a few AQ emails of about postals and she helped me with computer problems a couple of times, and it just made me wonder if there is a possibility to have her carvings shared on her memorial page, oh, maybe not all of them, but the really fun ones, not that all weren't fun, as she was that in a nut shell...but some that maybe Papaw might share with us...
Can this be done? Or what might others think of this idea, and you especially GT...
Any reply welcome...
Maybe she has an album that I didn't even think about?
Well, just thought I would throw that out there....

*puts on nerd-thick reading glasses with tape on the frame* The ones that were in Gatlinburg last year included the annual or periodical genuses Tibicen, Diceroprocta, or Okanagana. Brood XIX will be a swarm of slightly smaller cicada, such a high concentration that wildlife of all kinds will feast to their heart's content and there will still be leftovers for us to drive over and step on. If the swarm is thick this year, it means our ecosystem has faired well the past 13 years and humans have not paved over too many of the larvae.

could you just throw a bag around the box with the HH in the bag?

Sometimes a plastic bag on the outside will trap moisture and cause condensation in the box, damaging the original log book. It's generally not good to add anything to a box that isn't already there (excluding the HH of course), but only to repair as needed.

It's best to use a smaller container that will fit, or find a larger traditional LB, as already suggested.

Hello all,

If you were in either the Summer Fantasy and/or King of Horror trackers, please contact me. Hunters in Light logged back into AQ on Wednesday just long enough to delete those trackers entirely. Which suggests that they do not intend to swap/return our cards.

I have set up 2 new trackers for anyone who would still like to swap these cards. I know that for some of us (myself included), this will involve re-making some cards, so I've set them up with a "send-by" date of June 1. If this isn't enough time for you, PLEASE let me know, and I will adjust as necessary.

Further, as I only live about 2 hours from HiL, I'm taking a trip down the Thruway tomorrow (with probably some boxing along the way as well!), to see if I can recover anyone's cards. *crosses fingers hopefully* If I get your cards back, I will contact you directly to find out how you want to proceed.

Trackers are here:
King of Horror: http://www.atlasquest.com/showinfo.html?gTrackerId=5385
Summer Fantasy: http://www.atlasquest.com/showinfo.html?gTrackerId=5386

But what about the people who aren't lying. They really did find the letterbox, they're just too lazy to stamp into the box's logbook? They can prove they found it because they have the stamp in their logbook. But the auditors won't have a record of it.

I haven't read Emily Giffin, but I do like some chick lit. My favorite chick lit author is Marianne Keyes. She is an Irish author with a quirky sense of humor. Her books always seem like they are going to be total fluff, but are really quite deep and deal with a lot of serious topics (unplanned pregnancy, addiction, abuse, etc).

I started with Last Chance Saloon (thanks Bokmal for buying me that book so many years ago) and have never looked back. There aren't many authors whose books I'll buy these days, but Marianne Keyes is one that I am happy to have as part of my personal library.

I'm hoping you can recover some of the cards. ****I will be keeping my fingers crossed & sending positive vibes*****

I would be happy to join the new swaps but June 1st could be a little difficult for me. My oldest son graduates from High Shool on May 27th. This is already proving to be a very busy time getting ready for everything and all the family that is plannin on staying with me and the boys.
