Larger post offices have a do it yourself machine that is available 24 hours a day. You can search for the post offices the Automated Postal Centers here. Just make sure "Automated Postal Centers®" is selected in the drop down menu.

I prefer to use these even when counter service is open. I don't have to deal with the rude employees!

Anyone have a cool way of keeping your sig stamp inside your ink pad

Not exactly.... but sorta close. My wife sews, so she made me a small ink pad that fits one side of an Altoids tin. Then I used hot melt glue to put a divider in place, dumped some of the appropriate orange ink on the pad, and that's where my sig stamp lives. The other half of the Altoids tin holds a catseye pad with black ink, fastened in lid down with a fabric handle glued to the bottom.

One disadvantage: the ink rusts out the tin, and discolors the pad. I found out I needed to paint the inside with something to prevent that - acrylic artist paint seems to be working.

I'm from the Boston area. I had never heard of this until 1990, I was working with a group of mature engineers at GE. t They told me the story. I thought they were getting back at me for practical joke. But the next day, they brought in pictures of horses stuck and dead. It was beyond my imagination to believe the devastation until I saw the pics.

Not gotten to SDC yet, but its sister park, Dollywood, is outstanding, one of my top three parks, and I have visited a lot of parks. Would much rather go to Dollywood then any of the Disney parks.

If you ever make it to SW Missouri and are able to go in Silver Dollar City, it's well worth the price of admission! Much more than just rides, the park is set in 1800's. The whole park was built because of a cave that it sits on top of ~ the cave was the first attraction, then they built concession stands above the cave, then they continued building. Rides didn't come until years later. The cave, Marvel Cave, still holds the world record for underground altitude from flying hot air balloons in the Cathedral Room. What I love most about Silver Dollar City, though, are the trees... it was years before I realized how close the park is to the road because you just don't see it until you are in the parking lot.

I finished Harlan Coben's Long Lost (love Harlan Coben, but some of his endings *whish*). It's a great book, some very funny parts!

The second book is by Kay Hooper and is called If there be dragons. I don't remember if I actually finished this one or not, but I'm done with it either way so....if anyone wants this one too, let me know :)

When you're done with it I figured, just post 'em on here for the next lb'er :)

I just had to show it off. I just carved a new signature stamp that I will begin using in find 1000 (I'm at 991 by my count). It turned out good enough that I was finally willing to upload one to my profile.

The name in the tail is obvious, but the subtle part (that admittedly didn't turn out as well as hoped) is my location: the pupils are a Bell and a Flower, and the nose is CA.

I also created a gallery of older ones to show my progress in carving skills. (I'm gonna have to go back to one of my old finds to get a pic of #2).

In any case, I'd like to extend my apology.

Thanks! Accepted. It's really no harm, no foul, since once discovered it's so easy to unarchive. But I have no idea how long they had been archived or how many boxers didn't hunt them as a result.

All of my boxes that were archived were in S GA, if that's a clue. I have boxes in several states, probably more in FL than anywhere else, but none of my boxes in any other state got mysteriously archived, only in S GA. S GA is actually only a half hour drive from me, it's effectively local, so I do have a lot of boxes there.

I have the world's best cat. Occasionally we find him eating a squirrel, but we had always wondered how he caught the squirrel -- those squirrels are fast! Today the mystery was solved. We watched our house cat chase a red-tailed hawk off a squirrel it had just killed. As soon as the hawk flew up into a tree, the cat grabbed the squirrel and headed for our porch.

And I'm pretty sure the other one spends his time trying to plot his escape....I call him Kitty Houdini, the great escape artist because of all the times that he has snuck out when I open the door. He even got out of a second story window once! :)

That'll teach you a lesson for trying to keep them cooped up in a house. But I guess when you live in an urban environment, you pretty much have to.

When we first got our cat -- meaning he appeared one day on our front porch and never left -- SWMBO decided to haul him down to the local vet clinic and get him some shots. But we didn't have one of those cat carriers. I suggested just tossing him in the car, but she didn't want him fussing around the pedals while she's trying to drive. Plus, there's entering the vet office with dozens of cats and dogs around. So she decided she'd carry him in the laundry basket with something on top to cover it and keep him in. Plus we'd put him in it the night before so we wouldn't have to fiddle with catching him before heading out in the morning.

It wasn't difficult at all to get him in the basket; he's an agreeable cat. We then put something over top, I forget now what it was, might have been cardboard or something. And we duct-taped it to the laundry basket real good. I told SWMBO it wouldn't work. Next morning, we peek out the front window to see the laundry basket sitting on the porch, the top still securely fastened to it with duct tape -- and the cat standing beside it. "Meeeeeoooow!" Sounded to me like "That was fun! Let's do it again!" We still have no idea how he got out, whether he squeezed between the top and the rim of the basket somehow or just squeezed through one of the openings in the basket itself.

Some of the boxers in our area prestamp on stickers. Then you peel, stick, write what ever you want and on you go.

Those things suck. They're always peeling off the page and then sticking the pages together.
