have you tried holding down control and pushing the P?

just a wild guess. I switched to firefox a while ago and hated it, stuck with it for a whole month in an honest attempt to "get used to it", because people told me I would need time to get used to it. still couldn't do things I did in IE, and the internet didn't look any different...so went back. fortunately I hadn't uninstalled IE, so the return was easy.

come back from the fox side, it's not too late.... ;-)

There is no top menu bar like I was used to with "edit" "print"

Click Alt to make the menu appear.
Then go to View/Toolbars/Menu Bar to make it stay.

Good for you TCP to accept a stray with a challenge! THat is probably why she got dropped off...I guess people dont realize that if you fight with them as kittens they turn into monsters. I have to take foster pups to Petsmart today...two of them have appointments with adopters! I have a pregnant mom that is waiting in the wings to get out of the shelter....but I have only one place for fosters in the winter.

I wont be ordering chicks...but I did order some quail eggs! They will ship in March so I have to get my incubator up and running and use some of my eggs for testers...too bad you are so far away...I have a TON of eggs you could be eating....and hatching!

To all the Missouri folks I hope everyone faired the storms okay yesterday and sending wishes for a new year filled with joy and letterboxing. While winter is not my favorite time of year, just can't enjoy being outside in the cold, I am looking forward to finding some neat indoor letterboxes to explore. Anyone know of a good series to start with?

Well, it is just two weeks away, and I figure with the holidays pretty
well behind us, it is time to look forward to the return of this gathering.

This year it will be set in the sprawling suburbia of Sterling, VA. We
will start out at Joe's Pizzeria, in the heart of Sterling Park.
Afterwards we will move on to our place for some more food, drinks,
refreshment, a game of pool maybe, a fire, some indoor boxes, and some
night boxing outside. I have some wonderful Miz Scarlet stamps that
have seen very little use, so they should be great fun to hunt in our
ivy covered backyard.

It is also close to Schizokeet's birthday, so you can expect some cake
too :-)

So we invite all to come out to Sterling on the 15th, the fun starts at
5 PM, giving you plenty of time to explore local parks and boxes as
well. If you are traveling far we do have a place for you to stay if
you would like as well. Hope to see some new faces as well as some old
friends.

I promised to tell this story to another boxer, so here it is.
I've been told I color outside the lines and have control issues.
One day I came home from work and told my husband that they announced over the intercom, would the owner of the yellow pick up please move your vehicle. My husband asked if I parked in a different place. I said no, I parked where I always park. So he then asked why I had to move the truck. I heard my self say." Look, if they really didn't want me to park there, they would have put the cones closer together"

Sounds like a lot of fun. We're planning on bringing a couple of event stamps that we carved for early Mid-Atlantic Icebreakers . If you need to fill out your collection, we'll have those available. Looking forward to this one.

I am new to letter boxing, and have heard about people carrying personal travelers with them. I was wondering how to find out who carries one (is there a list?) and how to get the clues or passwords in case of an encounter on the trail....forgive my ignorance. Looked in back posts in regards to this question, but did not find any info there.

Thanks for the help,

Advice sought for trip to NYC

Hi, all. Our youngest really wants to go to NYC for vacation this year so I'm looking for advice. We do not plan to try to have our car with us in the city and intend to use subways/commuter trains and walking for transport as much as possible.

We are a little put off by how much hotels cost in the city but aren't sure what areas would be the best options to stay in. Any advice or suggestions are welcome. Please send private e-mails to me if you prefer.

Thanks for any help you can give.

You can look on someone profile and see if they have any. Many times the way to figure out the clues for the password is on the clue page.

If your signed up for an event on the event page there is a button that gives you a list of the personal travelers.

she will reach as far as she can, from the sink and then leap onto your shoulder if your not careful.

My cat has done this to me while I was concentrating really hard on an LTC. He went from the kitchen counter and leaped on my shoulder~scared the heck out of me!!!! Thankfully my back wasnt to the door or I would have thought someone got in the house and was attacking me!!
OK~I really did think that was happening until I saw the black fur ball and heard the purring~LOL
Stamp Swap for LTC's?
Board: Letterbox Chatter
Jan 1, 2011 10:15am
Thread Board
I get that some people enjoy different facets of this pastime more than others. I get that some boxers enjoy planting more than carving, and hence would post requests on the Stamp Swap board asking others to carve stamps for them to plant.

I will confess that I don't fully get the appeal of LTC's, but it seems to me that it might appeal to carvers who want to share the results of their efforts without risking the loss of the stamp itself when a box goes missing, or perhaps want to share images stamped and decorated in a very particular way rather than the haphazard stamping that usually occurs along a trail. Either way, though, it seems to me that LTC's boil down to pride in one's carving.

So can someone please explain to me why someone would post a request on the Stamp Swap board for a stamp to be used to create a LTC?

Welcome to the hobby! There is a glossary under Home ^ there and it can answer some of your questions.

Here is the def. for PTs in it.
personal traveler: special stamp a letterboxer carries, in addition to their signature stamp, but requires other letterboxers to say a secret code or do something special in order to acquire. To discuss personal travelers with other letterboxers, check out our Personal Traveler board.

Some people are nice and let you just stamp in others make you preform the dance from three amigos or sing the song OKLAHOMA from the musical it's all in fun!

Time to reflect on the year 2010 and all the things we said/did/experienced.

It has been quite a year!
I remember starting off the year with SNOW AND ICE at 2 January events (in Asheville and Hickory). The weather was miserable and I really didn't get any boxes (which probably accounts for my low number of finds this year).
BUT it was really fun seeing everyone huddled together singing at the outhouse.
And the MMT3 people came from so far way! We said good bye to a friend and welcomed a new.
And we can reflect now on how important it is to enjoy every single minute enjoying each other since you never know when it will be your last time with them.

And the beginning of the year pointed the course for the rest of the year. There were great adventures to TN, NY, SC (and other places for other folks). We wished bon voyage to Shoafsters as she starts a new life elsewhere and good bye to Nanni and Preboxed.

And for the beginning of this year, I plan to start it the same as the last: partying with friends at the MMTM event with total abandonment like there may be no tomorrow (because sometimes there is not). Make memories. You will cherish them later.

And then thinking about what new adventure may be in my plans for this year:
Maybe Gatlinburg again?
Maybe WV?
Maybe another Second Saturday Seekers event?
Maybe something in GA?
Maybe Paris Mtn again?
Maybe another VA adventure?

Welcome 2011!

This goes way back to when I was a kid, predating the text-speak of today. It's the author/artist Sandra Boynton.
