Those of you you don't know about the Yahoo! Rocky Mountain chat list probably won't "get" this. But hey, it's worth a smile all by itself.

Marmot video

And if you haven't stopped by the Yahoo! list and poked around in the "way-back" machine, I know for a fact that you're missing out on clues, hints or both...but not in the usual way..

Just saying.......

Oh and my Hot Springs in Glenwood Springs, CO gets few visitors, though it has a wonderful view of landmark topic of the box, and a very good chance of spotting real marmots on the way to the box.

I've had two consecutive attempts in 12 months time, so have marked this letterbox's status as 'unknown.' I do not live in the area and cannot check on it. If someone does find it, or a previous finder is in the area and can check on it for me, please notify me of your discoveries so I can keep the status correct and current.

Thanks!

Hey all,
It's been awhile, but I wanted to remind everyone about the virutal event: Pre Memorial Urban Plant event which is on Holly's birthday 4/1/11.

Sneaky urban boxes are just the thicket, but really anything that has to do with jesters, foolishness, wordplay, or anything that reminds you of Preboxed would be grand. She would love it if we would all just "play", right? Personally, I'm going with something snarky. :-P

There's the signup for the virual event.

Hi y'all,

If you have previously printed out the clues for "Carl Schurz" in Boulder, it's time to look at them again. I went back and found the sweet spot I wanted for that box -- no habitat erosion, much less traffic, and a beautiful view.

Happy trails!

We're a rather motley Welcome Wagon to be sure, but it seems like there are a LOT of new folks in our Colorado letterboxing community! New to the area, new to the hobby, it doesn't matter. We want to meet YOU!!! Inspired by the gracious Puppy Luv, who hosted a Summer Bash geared toward some "newbies" in her area, this event is geared not only to newbies, but to oldies who have transplanted themselves to our fair state.

Come, meet, exchange, trade stories, stamps, and create community!

We'll be meeting at our "old standby" the REI Flagship store in downtown Denver. There's a Starbucks inside that is a great place to gather, and several parks with letterboxes just a short walk away. Let's meet, grab a coffee, swap stamps, and get to know one another (or see friends we just dont see often enough!).

Event stamps are in the works ... and maybe even some fun surprises. Stay tuned! Here's the event - please say you'll come! :)

Letterboxing Hybrids in Geocaching.com in the Golden area
Board: Region: Rocky Mountains
Oct 16, 2014 2:15pm
Thread Board (disabled)
As we are both letterboxers (primarily) and geocachers, there was a list of new "letterboxing" hybrids listed on geocaching.com. Since we were in the area looking for letterboxes, we decided we would also find these new hybrid boxes which had a cute series starting with "A is for...". Imagine our disappointment when what we found was a magic marker type stamp with a letter cut into the top. There was not even a hint of having to put any thought into this. Just drop a magic marker in a box, mark the coordinates and that was that. If there are any other letterboxers out there that also geocache and think, Wow, what a great series, this is not it. The only thing we can think about is that this particular geocacher is only in it for the numbers and he didn't have any numbers in the letterboxing hybrid column and this was his way of getting more numbers. I have posted in the logs for these geocaches the message: "Letter + Box ╪ letterbox. (pls. refer to atlasquest.com)." So unless you need to go out for a walk anyway, I personally wouldn't waste my time on this.
