I'm a bit late getting up this morning of all mornings. Wow - fireworks. Ryan you are brilliant (how many times can we say that)?

I love it, but I do agree Marjorie is really really spooky. You have found a very evil Guy Fawkes mask to use. Gunpowder and a bonfire with a guy in the bottom corners too.

The weather was unusually mild until yesterday lunch time, now it is very cold and crisp which is typical bonfire weather. We get all wrapped up and have baked potatoes and sausages round the bonfire. I am lucky because a neighbour always has a huge firework display which lasts about 1 hour (that is an awful lot of fireworks)

Thanks for the firework display GT

Quote What's the story of Guy Fawkes and bonfire day?

"Remember, remember the 5th of November"

It is Bonfire Night. In 1605 Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament (with Protestant King James inside) by smuggling 36 kegs of gunpowder into the cellers. The Plot was foiled and ever since then we have burnt effigys of Guy Fawkes on Nov 5th to show that we won't have our Parliament messed with. - Nothing like holding a grudge is there LOL

Fireworks are a modern addition.

Well, whatever it was it is cured now, even on Opera. All my icons are back. Perhaps the Halloween Theme spooked my computer, although that mask of Guy Fawkes is enough to spook anything.

Just letting you know that to celebrate I have planted a box called Light Up The Sky:-

It is a permanent box, available all year, so no rush - except I want some visitors!

Just letting those who don't read the main boards know:-

There is a Great Hitchhiker (Cuckoo) Exchange happening. HH's (Cuckoo's) are being made and then swopped with another from far and wide to be planted in a completely different area.

The UK has been twinned! HHs (Cuckoos) are being made as we speak and will be swopped to travel around the country. So keep your eyes open and please log your finds so that our American friends can hear news of their travels.

There is a special photo gallery for this event:-

http://www.atlasquest.com/gallery/viewalbum.html?gAlbumId=178

I will let you know when they are actually planted, due to the post it will be a few weeks yet.

I had to use it! I was watching V for Vendetta when I first got the idea for creating a Guy Fawkes theme! =)

Are you suggesting that I add a bunch of baked potatoes (i.e. jacket potatoes?) and sausages around the bonfire? =)

In our case, if you fill 150 bags of treats, it's not very hard to do the math. It helps to know so you plan for enough (especially if you regularly have a mob.)

Goonies,

If you plan it, they will come. Doesn't need to be extravagant. A simple meet and greet would be great.

Count us in.

I had just over 300 kids last night. Yep, you heard right. I live in an "upscale" neighborhood in Syracuse that borders some of the poorer sections....so we get carloads of them starting at about 5 pm and running until 8 pm when we shut our lights off. I must say, this year the kids were VERY polite...much better than some years.

$60.00 worth of candy is a small price to pay to keep the neighborhood a friendly place to live....

i use prismacolor art markers. they are a bit more enxpensive and only sold singularly but for large stamps they retain the moisture (i still huff just in case). also they have a wide tip and a small tip so depending on the area you could use either one.
thats just my penny in.

Last year AScrew and CCLB did the O letterboxing tree. Some of us here in the area made 'ornaments' along with AS and CCLB to hang on the tree. It was very cool to make and find ornaments that had stamps and logbooks in them. It was great fun and people really seemed to enjoy it.
