Oh oh oh - I'm really good at holding babies!!! So while everyone else is running around being efficient and in control, etc, I'm going to hold the brand new baby (if it's ok with mom, of course ;-))

Other than that, I'm worthless in an emergency, I lose what little sense I have - but I know when to get out of the way of people with sense ;-))

I gotta show the kids and hubby that, they will love it!!!

We might even have to try our own little experiment!!!! :D

That was an amazing video - can't wait to show my bunch too!!

I have done this (not to that degree) and it's great (and messy!) fun! Just make sure and get the "real sugar" mentos - not the ones with artificial sweetener. My friends figured that out personally ;-))

Well, where I work we MAKE babies--but 'I don't know nothing 'bout birthin' no babies.' So I'll just stand by to administer smelling salts to those who need it. I know how to do that.
Let's just get all the gathers over before April when grandbaby #2 is due. I don't want to have to miss another one, because of a last minute conflict. 'Course, we won't be that far away--she won't need us until after she delivers.

I've never thought of counting the kiddos as they come. Although, I just left a bowl at the front door so we could go with our own children. It was empty upon our return of course. We have about 60 houses in our neighborhood and hit every one!!! I need trick or treaters just to get rid of some of the candy we now have!

Well, since I was the one who started this theoretical discussion, I'd better chime in....

The stamp that started this discussion (the theoretical stamp, that is... ;-)) has been repaired and sent off in a PLB - so I can give a final report when it returns.... I used a glue I have in the "sewing department" in my house. It's an Aleene's glue, called Tack it over and over. It's used to create a tacky back for..... whatever you need to be tacky on the back (something that needs to stick, but not be permanant). The theory here is that the tackiness of the glue will help the ink stick, and will not cause it to just bead up and go away, thereby presenting one with the same problem as before. It worked fine on both the places I needed to "repair" my stamp. A final report will be forthcoming in several months ;-))

Now, before anyone gets too excited - these were very small repairs - more aesthetic than anything (except the "N" I carved backwards - but I just redid the middle line). It worked great in the stamping I did, but I fear that the constant tackiness of the glue will be the ultimate undoing and the "patch" may end up pulling away from the stamp. However, I'm sure when it's back from its rounds, I'll have an idea!!

Mama Fox - after a long exhausting Halloween........................ this fox needs to find a hole to crawl into ;-))

Yep, I've heard that before! Thing is there are just certain songs that I *have* to sing along with! He's finally adjusted. Now if I can just get him to let me listen to "Come On Eileen". For some reason he has a strong dislike of Dexy's Midnight Runners. LOL

I have also made the disheartening realisation that there really isn't a Rolling Stones song that you can safely listen to with kids in the car. My kids will ask you what the songs mean! Ummm... Well... ;-)

Because "Come on Eileen" is kid-safe?! ;->

My kids can go either way. Generally The Bug (6y) will get into whatever I like. Currently I'm on a K.T. Tunstall kick and he likes to rock out with me in the car. Boo (3.5y), not so much. They're both big Springsteen fans, courtesy of Dad! :)

The Bug loooooooves Christmas songs, and the local oldies station plays non-stop Christmas music starting the week of Thanksgiving(!). By the time Christmas is here I've about had it, but it tickles him so much I get over it.

Quote I have ancestors that are Parris and Paris...and they came from SC

As I recall, the old mill ruins, is from a family in the 1700's by the name Paris. They were Loyalists in the Revolutionary war. When the Loyalists lost, their property was seized so the Paris family lost their mill. The park is named after this. I'm just recalling this off the top of my head.

Oh, yes, you really must go!

Yeah, I know, none of the stuff I/we grew up with is really kid safe but there sure are lots of the oldies that just weren't "in your face" as far as the meanings go. You can fudge a little. After all, does anyone really know what the heck "I Am the Walrus" means???? ;-)

I've accepted the fact that I wont get to rock out while he's in the car. I made Rog stop listening to that blasted talk radio in the car with him, so, I couldnt keep the motown and 60s soul stuff or the rock...

so now i listen to Laurie Berkner, Veggie Tales, Tom Chapin, etc. Actually, I've never gotten tired of a Laurie Berkner song, and Tom Chapin is just the best... and Veggie Tales are always good... so maybe James' has expanded my music library for the good anyway ;-D

So now I can sing along with new songs and "oldies". :)

Ain't that the truth. I taped the hubby dancing with the grandbaby to calm her down when she was tiny. He put it up on his webpage, and the older daughter told him to listen to the words of the Doors song that was playing. He spent a while finding a more appropriate song, that would match his dancing movements, to replace the song that was actually playing.

Speaking of the words to songs--even now, 30 years later, I sometimes realize that the real words are different from what I have been hearing all this time. There is a radio DJ that does comedy routines, on the Classic Rock station, about misunderstanding the words. It's really funny how different the real words can be from what I thought they were.

How about translating it from Midde English to Old English to get the passkey!?
Some of those old alphabets require special fonts that I don't have.
Not having them "runes" the original look.

lol... ok bad memory washed up here... my parents always had the country-western station on the radio... oh man, i HATED that..... but can you believe my brother dragged me to see Conway Twitty, George Jones and Merle Haggard when we were in college... guess i had a small amount of appreciation for that music hidden somewhere down deep LOL.

Was I ever happy though when I was in 5th grade to get my own radio and 8 Track tape player (and even TWO Shawn Cassidy tapes!!) MUHAHAHHAHAHA uh yea... (did i just admit that outloud?) *looking around suspiciously*

then i found Dr. Demento on the radio late at night when I was supposed to have the radio off and be in the bed sleeping... MUHAHAAHAHAHA.. " my radio placed under my pillow, turned to the perfect volume became my own personal "ipod" ;-D

I owe much of who I am today to the good Doctor... you can all blame HIM!

Speaking of Dr Demento, this last Sunday I took my 14 year old son (who went WILLINGLY) to see a live stage production of a musical. It was called "Tomfoolery", and is based on the music of Tom Lehrer... my son LOVED it! A new generation of twisted humor is rising!

LOL Same here, but my parents listened to the music of the teens and roaring 20's. Then they stayed on top of it in the thirties and forties. My brothers and sisters had the fifties covered and my kids took me in to the new century. I love it all. Well, most of it.

oh ok.. i see.. there's a Boiling Springs, SC in Spartanburg County, and another one in Barnwell County... wow...

I went to Gardner Webb (the B.S. in NC).. and as a "suitcase college" everyone of course would pack up and go home for the weekend... then, we called it "Boring Springs"...... I knew about the B.S. right across the state line, but I never knew there was YET another Boiling Springs, SC!!

the town in NC, still has the "spring" but it doesnt "boil" these days... way back when, the town elders thought they'd be very smart, and they wanted to make the boiling springs a HUGE tourist attraction... so they took dynamite and blew up the springs to make it bigger (than the creek that it was)... and whatever was making it "boil"... vanished.. LOL... oh well!!
