What a good way to start the day. After Dropping the daughter off at school I decided to check in on a box there to look at the new stamps. Well the name of the box is "Here There be Dragons". Then I get home and log on to AQ. Lo n' behold what do I see? HAHA a freakin' dragon.

Good Day.

I posted this question a few days ago myself and got so many good ideas. I sort of combined all of the suggestions and went looking through my closet for anything that I might find that would work. I found a bag that I bought from LL Bean a few years ago that I used for traveling. It has several different compartments, and even one for carrying a water bottle. Look on their website and you can find several different kinds. Organization is not my strong suit and I have to work at it continually. For now this bag is working, but ask me in about a month how organized I am :(

When I introduced L&Ls to my husband while letterboxing, he decided to buy a few (hundred) for food. He buys his spices at Penzey's Spices and uses the smaller L&Ls for them, while using the bigger ones for freezing soup for the winter.

He thinks they're FABULOUS! So do I, but for letterboxing ;-)

LOL! I do the same thing - but I use my really unplantable images for postals. Have you ever thought of doing that with them? I know its not your genre - but there are folks out there that would LOVE to get your images in their logbooks! : )

Just a thought

LOL Being in Alaska and checking out Colorado, I keep saying I'm going to miss the mountains.

Growing up in Ga. Where our tallest mountain is not even 5000 ft. Then driving across the country through the Rockies, and past Rainier, then finally to "The High One" (Denali). That's where I stayed for a while just outside the park boundaries in Healy. For a couple of years actually. Then to Fairbanks, then to Anchorage to move in with my now-wife. We have now been in Ga for 9 years and are moving out west as soon as possible.
We feel for you and miss the mountains to.

As I am unlikely to be done with work before 8 pm, but am not far from Berlin, are there any plans for after the mini-meet? I would be flying solo - Jonah would be with grandfolks, Suzanne at work farther away.

If not, we are ALL looking forward to seeing everyone in Norfolk on the 17th!!!

I saw this post on another board that I peruse regularly:

Our student intern was teaching an 8th grade band class, and working on scales. Some of the scales went up to high F in the trombones, which they were slaughtering. He, after many attempts to explain what they were doing wrong, said, "I don't care what you do, you've got to get the F out!"

Try driving up the Mount Washington Auto Road. That's still open I believe & there was supposed to be snow there overnight last night (Wednesday). I think there are 2 boxes up there so it wouldn't be a wasted trip. Another suggestion - Alaska maybe? :-)

This is a disgusting thought, so don't read further if you have a weak stomach.

People who are not able to "perform" with their own equipment will use objects. Taking away their performace equipment won't help, they will just find other ways to abuse and terrorize their victim. I'm very conservative on this issue. If a person has committed this crime they should be killed.

I love Ken Burns! He has the best job in world.
Anyway as I stated in an earlier post I lived spitting distance from Denali National Park and Preserve. So I was in the wilderness as much as possible. I've never been to the end of the road that leads to Wonder Lake, but I didn't need to spend 13 hours on a bus to get the Denali experience. I had a tent and two good feet. Being out in the bush miles from the road, alone but for the moose and porcupines, quiet but for the river and birds. It was where I could be forever at that time. Some things are unforgettable like getting chased by a couple of young (but not small) moose when trying to get a better picture. Or sitting across the Nenana River from a grizzly who was not interested in me but the moose calf on the island a few feet away. Walking on the tundra through a maze of giant depressions about six feet in diameter and three feet deep, heart pounding every time I had to get close to one not knowing what would be waiting to jump out or what I might awaken.
I could still be there forever only now I want to be there with my family and not alone.

Exactly. Thanks Judith.

Thank goodness these women at SMP were brave and also PREPARED to handle themselves in case of emergency. Another reason to think My Mojo is right and that I need to get a license to carry. I'm such a fraidy cat and I admit that carrying something with me would probably be all the courage I would need. (Can't y'all just see me trying to whip my gun out while running? I know I'd be scared but right now the mental image is quite funny.)

There are MANY reasons a person wants to do harm to another (most often because they themselves were abused or hurt) but in the end, if they want to badly enough they will....equipment or none.

ok all my Ohio letterboxing friends....I have some news....

I will be at SOHT, just late (I, too, have a wedding to go to that day--luckily it's closer than Granny and Coffee's and I can still drive down for night boxing and camaraderie!! please save me a spot to throw up a tent :)

I will be bringing someone with me for you all to meet...and I have carved him a stamp, so be sure to bombard him with exchanges! ;)

I, too, will be carving myself a new stamp...no, I'm not changing my name...
and here is my news...
all my letterboxing gear was stolen out of my vehicle last Saturday and there went my sig stamp (...and logbook..and EVERYTHING!--even my beloved towel from the Ohio's Edge event :( I'm so sad)

anyway, I doubt I'll be re-carving the same image...and I'm not even sure if I'll come up with what I really want by SOHT, so I may just carve myself a simple mini-sig for right now.

see you all then! I soooo look forward to it!

and a special THANK YOU to JBBK...you know what for! :)

So my worst nightmare has come true. Find out my long haired daughter does indeed have lice. We just started the treatment. Starting the first of I am sure many loads of wash. The nurse said she probably has had it for a while, even though she really hasnt been scratching too bad.

Wish me luck. Guess I need to call my neighbor and tell her that her kids may still have it or have it again.

Did the geocaching episode involve a dead person or a bomb?
For some reason, whenever I hear geocaching mentioned on tv, it has something to do with one of those two things!

My father is out of the hospital. The final verdict was that he entered the hospital with chest pain, immedicately had two heart attacks and had to be shocked to be brought back.
Unfortunately he has no insurance, so they stabilized him and released him. No test to determine the problem or anything. Not even a follow up visit.
Meanwhile I'm thousands of miles away and feel helpless. My mother has the beginnings of Alzheimers and isn't overly capable of taking care of him. So now I'm worried about both.
I am only 31...it just seems like I should be so much older before all of this happened.
Please say a prayer for them. I'm still unsure of what I'm going to do. I'm worried, tired, angry......

can I have your pattern? or directions? was the seam on the bottom where you had to step on it? was stepping on the seam comfy?

You can see the pattern I used online at http://www.therainshed.com/patternpages/RSpatternPages_/RS220sock.htm. Well, it doesn't have the actual pattern, but it has images of what the final product would look like. The seems don't really get toward the bottom of the foot. There's one near the heal and one near the toes, but I can't really feel it when I wear it. The fabric doesn't actually overlap at all--you put the edges of the fleece next to each other and zigzag both edges together, so it mostly just feels like a single, solid piece of fabric.
