Two months of Manny Ramirez...and then a fairly quick exit in the playoffs, should they manage to even qualify.

I wouldn't think that is hitting the jackpot.

I doubt Manny stays in LA even if they try to resign him at the end of the year.

Look at his OPS...it's been falling for 2 years...with Boras negotiating the contract this time around, I would not want my team to overpay for a Hall of Famer whose skills are degrading and who brings so much baggage with him.

Did you see them at a concert? Love them. We seen them 13 years ago before they went real big by boat at a waterfest. So much fun.

i haven't decided out right, what i will be doing with the stamps after the gather, but i did concider sneding them to other people of which the presidents represented in states. for example, franklin pierce was from new hampshire, so the stamp would be planted. i would turn it into a huge series across the country. or i thought about a traveling presidental event box. the ideas are up in the air and are just in the back of my mind roght now. i'm more worried about collecting all 44 presidental stamps first.

thanks for all those that have offered so far.
email me with any offers to carve.
it is easier for me to save them that way.

Thanks,
I was able to locate someclues for boxes that are very near the campsite. Seems to be quite a bit near I-95, so hopefully I can find some of these boxes. As for the beaches, I am not that familiar with them, so I will print out a few and see if any are near where we are going.
Looks like good weather, so we are very excited to go to the beaches there. We had gone to some last year. They are awesome. The waves are great, and the kids can use the bogey boards. CT beaches don't allow that.
Thanks again,
Packing the car! Hopefully I can fit everything in!

In a division where the top two teams are struggling to be above .500 with rather weak offenses he could be the difference in making the playoffs. Once in the door anything can happen (like the Rockies surprise last year).

Dartmoor ones tend to have a new stamp to mark each birthday, rather than only being 'open' at certain times.

There were some president stamps that have circluated as postals. You may want to get to search for them and contact owners. I also know of a Woodrow Wilson stamp in Virginia. Not sure if the owner would do a re-carve. Just some thoughts that might help.

For a good historical mystery, try Sharon K. Penman. She has a series based on a fictional character that works for Eleanor of Aquitane. Sometimes the whole family is interspersed in the story. Prince John is a real character. At the end she also tells the reader what was real and what was fiction. A very good read! The first book is called "The Queen's Man"

Happy Reading!

Go to that event and have the time of your life. I would think the experience referenced would be very rare.

Also, read these tips for attending an event, and go prepared like a good scout. ;-)

If someone treats you nasty . . . send that person to the tent and keep your yummy treats with you so you can share them with the other very nice guests.

I have a really busy evening, so I am going to post this early. That way Mama Stork won't have to put me on the naughty chair.

Our last day in CT was a whirlwind before leaving on the evening flight. We focused our efforts on one set of boxes Noah’s Ark (29 boxes, 5 or 6 add ons and the ever present CT bonus boxes). Each stamp carved by a different carver around the country – some whose stuff I had encountered in my travels. There was the ark, noah and then animals in pairs of all varieties. BPD utilized his superhero power of finding boxes that we had no clues for – in this case Brother Cadfael. I have NO IDEA HOW HE DOES THIS!!! Just a great concept for these boxes and BPD and I thought it might be fun to organize one of these for the Cinti area – the theme – favorite childhood vacation. Probably colored by our trip to the A&W for the FLOAT ON DOWN box. BPD and I both have very fond memories of the A&W drive-ins while on family trips to MN. (But secretly - not as good as the Hosmer Mtn stuff).

We got an unplanned exchange when we came across a family of 5 who were OBVIOUSLY also looking for Noah and not being stealthy. We introduced ourselves and asked if we could exchange stamps. Stampede -5 had never heard of exchanges or gathers. Huh? Philistines! And they had been boxing for 3 years! So we explained about AQ which they had no knowledge of. It was fun. Stampede mom told us that she had a T shirt that said 'Recovering Letterbox addict – hide your Tupperware'. I WANT one!!!

At this point we have pushed the time limit to the last moment and head to Providence for our return flight - smelly, hair full of leaves and twigs. Your worst nightmare for a seatmate on a plane. We return the car and slide in just in time for FLIGHT DELAYED. Ronald Reagen where we are connecting is closed due to weather. Teeth grinding at the fact that we could have gotten a couple more boxes. But we eventually leave only an hour or so behind schedule. We are probably gonna miss our connecting flight in DC, so we adapt our plans and decide it would be fun to get a cab and tool around DC at night and look at all the monuments lit up. We fly all the way to DC. The pilot comes on with what we think are gonna be the usual landing announcements. But NO!!! Dude says that Ronald Reagan has a curfew of 10:30 and we are going to miss it by 15 minutes. This just seems ridiculous to me that a major airport in our nation’s capitol has a curfew like a teenage girl??? So we are going back to Providence. BPD and I just bust out laughing – it is so like an episode of Groundhog Day. Our fellow passengers, none too happy with our aromatic bouquet and sunburned faces give us the hairy eye ball. We just laugh harder - like hyenas.

We are the last off the plane. Last in line to re-book a flight. It is 11PM and the clerks are soooo slow. We have hiked all day. Missed a couple more meals. Someone is kinda getting crabby again ☺. So we grab a seat and just people watch. Not like we are gonna get any more last-er. The gate agents and passengers all just stressing, tired and BITCHING at one another. So BPD and I start cracking jokes and making each other laugh. We are a little sleep deprived and one of us also has low blood sugar so it isn't very hard to be entertained. BPD is very good at this once you get him going. Our antics seem to annoy every one - that we aren’t behaving in the prescribed way for delayed passengers. In other words acting like THEM. Quite sure they thought there were some strange fungi in our backpacks (overstuffed and now bleeding out clue papers everywhere) that were the source of all the hilarity.

But we both notice that the glares eventually turn into smiles as we continue to clown and goof around. We listen as flight after flight fills. Looks like we will be leaving on the red eye tomorrow night at the same time. So we are pleasantly surprised when the agent FINALLY gets to us. She smiles bc we are still cracking each other up. Maybe she also recognizes that we made her job a little easier over the last 2 hours by volunteering to be the airport clowns. And she routes us back to Columbus thru Charlotte. Good news. We leave at 8 AM. Bad news. It is now 2AM and it seems silly to get a hotel for 4 hours. BPD and I camp out like some homeless folk, who we are starting to resemble more and more with each passing hour. We entertain ourselves with the photobooth on my laptop – will be posting those too bc they are exceptionally hilarious. We sleep on the airport floor (YUCK) and eat crap out of the vending machines. BPD is still in possession of some Hosmer Mtn Soda that he wants to take home to Kanga-Sue and the girls. I know he is holding some birch beer and I want it! Luckily I fell asleep before it got ugly.

The rest of the trip is uneventful. We both are out cold from PVD to Charlotte, and again from Charlotte to Columbus. BPD returns home to the wife and girls. And I make my regular monthly massage at 7PM.

Final box count 50 (not quite our 100 dream boxes). We managed to get only one of donutz716 whose stamps are phenomenal. 1 little HH came home with us. But we had fun as always.

Now about next year……..

Good Morning North Carolina !!
Yesterday was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO quiet on these boards...... it was kinda CREEPY.

Lets start today off better with a wish for a WONDERFUL DAY.... and a GREAT WEEKEND !!

What does everyone have planned for the weekend ???

I think MR SEEKER and I may be going to the drive in movie tonight.
Bessemer City/Kings Mtn. Drive in is playing 2 new movies:
THE MUMMY: TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR
and HELLBOY 2
The same two movies are at SUNSET Drive In in Shelby. We've not been to that one yet.
Both Drive In's are 7$ a Carload. Can't beat that price.
It's wonderful to see all the young family's out enjoying the movies. I shudder to think about taking 2 or 3 kids to the regular theater YIKES EXPENSIVE. The Drive In is the best entertainment value around.

I hope to also talk him into some LETTERBOXING this weekend, but I'm not sure we can fit it in. We have "stuff" to do.

WORK is SLOW... so I'll be here a lot throughout the day.....

Please give me something to read !!!! Not so quiet like yesterday !!!

Have a great day friends !
