Hi tales

There is a web site "Off Dartmoor" and I sent the link to Princess Lea prior to her trip with Ryan and Amanda and can not currently find it. You might contact her to see if she still has it.
The site is put up by the same folks that have the Dartmoor site so you could cruise around in google. Another person I sent it to was Towanda (see messages in UK boards for 'Scotland' site for her address).

Please know that this HH has been retired. If you receive it from anyone, it was sent to you in error and not sent back to me as promised.

The woman in Oregon who has kept the HH for what has now become two months past promising to send it back to me has threatened to not only not send it back, but to send it on to someone else.

If you receive it, can you please e-mail me at nfmoon@mindspring.com?

thanks,

I actually do some caching...because there's not enough letterboxes to keep me busy around here, yet. And my sister and I were considering coming down but decided it's just too busy that week and we won't be going.

We'll probably get down to visit later. (Yes, we'd be coming down...I'm in Potsdam, NY)I didn't want to do anything until after the Invitational since I don't know if the cachers will place anything close to that box or not. I'll drop the organizers a line and hope they will respect the box and not remove it or put anything close to it so cachers might stumble on it accidentally.

I doubt the box will be "up and running" before the Inivitational. I've just started carving and I'm not really sure how well this stamp is going to come out!

But thanks for the warning.

Quote Is it more appropriate to list an agregate gain for the hike length or merely the elevation difference from the Trail Head or starting point?

The agregate would be better since it's more indicitive of how tough the hike really is. Might be deceptive to some people to put 0 elevation gain when there's actually a three thousand foot mountain range between the starting and ending points. ;o)

It could very well be because of nasty emails the person has recieved.

Nope, that's what happened. I have the HH, I forgot to mail it off, life gets in the way of good intentions. The next numerous emails I got were nasty. It's just one of those things, when people send you nasty emails you don't feel real inclined to go out of your way to do them a favor. It is going back to Miss Moon, WHEN I get to the post office.

But, according to Dr. Science, since Work = Force x Displacement , there would be zero work performed. Rising, adds in +3000 ft, decent adds in -3000 ft for a net of zero. There for no work. However, there was a LOT on Energy converted into heat and lost....

Nope, don't worry about it- they're nto actually ophans.
That comment you see next to them is an option for you TO orphan them, if you want.
Someone wondered about this the other day.

It's not that they are orphaned. It's that you, as the owner, have the option to change them to orphaned/adoptable if you want.

Hello, there!

I got the following e-mail, but can't find any record of either of these boxes on AQ. If anyone knows who planted these boxes, can you make sure they get the message? Thanks!

-- Ryan

Quote The Letterboxes, "Mill Ruins" and "Reservoir", have been removed. Ga. Code 12-3-10(b), R&R #391-5-1-.06(10) reads "No games ... shall be allowed...except in areas designated for such activities or under terms and conditions specified by the site manager." The above letterboxes are in violation of that code.
Both letterboxes can be retrieved from the park office at Sweetwater Creek State Park.

In other words; "You will have NO fun in Georgia's Sweetwater Creek State Park". I wonder how many parks I've been to recently that I never would have gone if it wasn't for a letterbox in the area. I wonder if they know that letterboxers promote parks and recreation by their letterboxing activities.

I'll bet they're just jealous.

Letterboxers just have more fun.

This is only true in a closed system. Letterboxing is defintely an open system.

In fact the net should be 12,000 ft. 3000 ft up going in, 3000 ft down going in (I have bad knees) plus the same to get out.

I'm not going after this letterbox, my knees hurt just thinking about it!

it's not a page many people ever look at since most people don't record unlisted mystery attempts in the first place

Call it a OCD thing; if I legitimately attempted it, I record it. That way, what I have on my AQ logbook is the same as what I have in my excel logbook.

I'm the same way (except I use Hexacat's Access database instead of excel :-)

Quote Then, to keep things manageable, I spend some time copying clues from AQ into a MS Word file. Then, I can format the page dimensions to fit a 4 x 6 notecard with tiny margins and run them through my inkjet printer. I have a little accordion file that's designed for grocery store coupons, and I have it sectioned into different geographic areas I visit frequently. I keep the clues for the current trip in the front pocket, usually organized by preference, or, if it's a road trip, by the order of how I will pass them on the trip.

Brilliant. Absolutely briliant!
