I'll join! It's a little late so I won't post much. I'll just say that I just started watching the Matt Smith shows tonight. I really didn't get into the Doctor until the newer rounds with Christopher Eccleston though I did see some of the Fourth and Fifth doctor ones.

I just finished Matt Smith's season over the weekend. He's no David Tennant *drool*, but he's pretty good. And Amy is adorable.

Who's there?
Doctor
Doctor Who?
Finally, someone who get it.
My first was Tom Baker.

I started watching when Tom Baker was the Doctor as well. Later, I saw some of the older Doctors, but Tom Baker really made the character for me.

When they brought back the show with Christopher Eccleston, at first I didn't like it, but gradually got sucked in. I loved both Eccleston and David Tennant. I haven't seen the Matt Smith episodes yet.

but I've never seen Doctor Who....

I hadn't either until *checking Netflix* July 7. Gosh, it's been less than 5 months! I find that hard to believe. It's such a great show, and I've watched every episode of the first 4 seasons of the current series (the one that started in 2005) at least twice (some 3, 4 or 5 times). Hey, I had to find something to do during my unemployment! :)

TG

PS Quick question for people who have been watching the current series: The Christmas special that will air in Britain on Christmas Day...will that air on Christmas Day on BBC America also or do we have to wait to see it?

Alas, we are not fortunate enough to get BBC America in my home, so I for one will have to wait until it's put on DVD. :-(

I had to do something while Trekkie Gal was unemployed. She'd probably drive me crazy, pestering me every day if I stuck around! ;o)

I didn't become unemployed until a few weeks AFTER you started your hike, so don't be blaming me for that one! :P

One of my goals is to watch every Dr.Who in chronological order. I'm still on the first doctor, William Hartnell. Found out that there are some missing episodes.

Yes, there are 108 missing episodes, all from the first and second Doctors.

Yes, it will be on at 9 EST. In fact, all they will be showing on BBC America on Christmas Day is Doctor Who.

I'm in shock. "back in the day", they wouldn't even ship us the current doctor.
with the new series they shipped us the current doctor, but we had to wait until march to see the christmas special.

now they're showing it here on the same day? the BBC must have finally figured out the way to keep the episodes off you-tube is to show it to america, canada, and australia on the same day....after all, we love the doctor too.

Oh man, I've been checking YouTube periodically for this, hoping that it would be posted. I just checked my phone and I see that Craig twittered about how "furious" he is that someone *wink wink* leaked the clip. I'm watching it first thing when I get home. :)

Ok, that was awesome! If you've never seen Craig before, he does stuff like that every once in a while, with most of the same people, puppets and skeletons. :)

Thanks for the link. I missed most of that week. No TiVo, no one to tape it for me.
TGFPLY to find and post it for people like me.

I received this postcard today. The sender, Claire, said she hoped I recognized the picture. Ummm, yup!! It would be even better if the Tardis was sitting in front of the tower though. :) Claire also mentioned that she often sees the stars of the show around town, and she's even spotted a Dalek and the Tardis. How lucky she is!

Today, while wrapping gifts, I watched 'The Christmas Invasion', 'The Runaway Bride', 'Voyage of the Damned' and 'The Next Doctor'. And my TiVo is all set up to record 'Doctor Who at the Proms' at noon Central time, and of course the new Christmas special 'A Christmas Carol' tomorrow night (oh wait, looking at the clock, I should be saying tonight). Oh, and I almost forgot about Graham Norton right after the new episode - he is going to have Matt Smith on the show. I won't get to watch anything until next week though, as I will be in WI over the weekend. So if anyone is going to post anything about the episode, please put the word *Spoiler* in the subject line. :)

Santa brought us the Matt Smith Dr. Who dvd's. Also Sanctuary Season 1, and Warehouse 13 Season 1, so it's a very geeky Christmas here.
