I have yesterday planted a series of 10 boxes for my Dad's 80th birthday.
They are called Who is RAN Salmon?
It is not a long hike. My only request is that you wish my dad a happy 80th birthday.
He is a new boxer!

You can also do my other series Shivat Haminim from the same parking area (not the same trail) making it to be 18 boxes and worth a trip!

thanks

If New England just morphed into "Northeast" and there is a Great Lakes board, Western and Central NY (Lakes Erie and Ontario) are going to be very confused. Guess, I'll join both to solve that!

I am performing in the FN talent show ands was wondering if there was anyone who was going to be there that can play piano or guitar to accompany me in my talent.

I don't want to bring canned music if I can help it.

Thanks,

Hello all. AceoHearts here from Central NY. Pretty much the center of the state. Except at the moment I am in Indiana, where I showed up 51 hours early and really surprised JBBK at about 2 am.

If anyone ever showed up to surprise me 51 hours early, it would be them in for a big surprise

Interesting idea, I have added it to my favorites. Us New Englanders (I'm from CT myself) need to stick together, plus it's nice to have another place to talk with folks. ;-)

Weekend Visit - looking for highlights to hit

I will be headed to Boston Area and South Coast of Maine next weekend for my first time ever (a little break from single parenthood) and, being new to letter boxing, would like to find a couple of boxes during my short visit. I will have my mom with me, who is NOT a letter boxer, but if the site/park etc is interesting - I'll get no complaints. So.. with that said, any suggestions on some letterboxes I should seek. I heard there is a beautiful garden in the area - maybe one here? and of course, besides eating lobster, I plan on doing the toursist thing and visiting some lighthouses.

There are so many listed for the area, I'd really like a few suggestions to narrow it down. Thank you so much for your help!!!!!

I am looking for a few patches. I need Maine, and Massachusetts. And also maybe another one for New hampshire. Someone gave me a few patches today, but I figure that you can never have too many patches right?
Any help or suggestions, please AQ mail me.
Thanks

South Coast of Maine

There are plenty of boxes along the south coast area. There are whale series in York; blackbird series in Cape Elizabeth; numerous boxes in between as well. Definately hit the Fort Williams area. There are plenty of boxes, old forts to checkout, great scenic and picnic area as well as the Portland Head Light.

There is also a light house series by Jars of Clay that stretch from York - Kittery area all the way to Brunswick.

And if you are in the area for an exchange, look us up. We always enjoy meeting new boxers in the area.

For just generic state patches that are not related to letterboxing, I get a lot of mine via ebay (when I don't actually pick them up in the states where I am traveling!) When traveling, I always look for patches at State or National Park gift shops and any touristy or kitschy type places.

Also SpeedSquare hooked me up with a really cute generic Letterboxing Patch and I got a catalog from Advantage Emblem. They have all kinds of patches that are really really cute! They also have a website:

Could you be a little more specific about what you mean by Boston Area? There are so many nice boxes, but I don't want to steer you way out of your way. and by beautiful garden, do you mean the Boston Public Gardens? We could help you out if we knew more about where you'd like to go/stay!

Hello from Vermont! Not many board participators up here. Glad to find a slightly larger region to read that is "local". Would love to see a meet and greet somewhere in Vermont that isn't an overnight stay. Anyone else???

I think I am going to start this w/ my boy scouts. One tip I picked up from other boxers in a similar situation is to plant temporary boxes for them to find. When you are done you can direct them to AQ if they want to continue with the hobby. What this does is, it protects the boxes already planted. Some kids may not be into it and could give up the hiding spot when hanging out with others. Just a thought :)
