Welcome to the Teen Boxing board!
Board: Teen Boxing

There was a request for a board where teens could talk about letterboxing. Not really sure what to call it, though. If you have suggestions, post them and I might change the name of the board. =)

I'm also not sure if this should go under the "Letterboxing Central" category or the "Yakking It Up" category. I figure I'll watch the board a bit and see what happens with it. If a bunch of you teens start yakking it up, I'll change the category to be Yakking It Up. For the time being, though, I'll leave it as a "Letterboxing Central" board. =)

Happy trails!

Oh, all non-teens are banned from this board. This is a board FOR teens, not ABOUT teens. ;o)

Oh, I should point out, if you want to talk ABOUT your teens, the "Boxing With Kids" board still works. Just cause they're teens doesn't mean they aren't your kids. ;o)

Well I put one out that is only accessable by kayak or canoe in Norwalk, Connecticut. I dont know how extreme you count that as though.

Most sane people would consider it TOO extreme! :-)

I'm the same way, I've just heard a lot about parents making their kids go on stuff and was trying to get an idea of how many people were actually like that.
We should use this board...

...now that we have it. I mean, Ryan took the time to make it available ( I know I didn't spell that right, but I'm in a rush ) we should at least try to use it. Come on, we know how to spend time talkin' about nothin'. Why not do it in comfort of our computor chair? In fact, this post is an excelent example of what I'm talking about. I should be packing for a trip but Im posting on AQ.

Yack it up!!

No, I'm here, working on ways to make the site faster, in fact. =) That's my most recent project to work on--getting pages to run faster and more efficiently than ever before.

Ultimately, I want to target improvements in four pages in particular: My Page, box details, and each of two different pages for messages. (One for viewing messages one at a time, and one for viewing multiple messages at once.) Those are by far the four most commonly viewed pages, so those are the four I'm focused on trying to improve.

The last few days I've been working on the "Box Details" page. It's actually more efficient than the other three pages already, but the tweaks I could make to that one are relatively minor and absolutely necessary to show the last found date for planted boxes in one's logbook, so I'm working on that first. There's actually a "feature" to benefit from that change. The other pages won't have any improved features, just pages that load faster if I do things right.

The other three pages--those are going to be a lot more challenging to improve. *nodding* My Page is actually pretty quick except for the part that displays how many messages are on your favorite boards--so it's actually a message board issue there--and I need to do a radical update to get better performance out of the message boards. That'll likely take me at least a month before you start to see results there.

Anyhow.... I never sleep. If it's not one thing I'm working on, it's another. My job is never done. =)

PS. On a totally related note, AQ's running just fine for me tonight. *shrug*

Ahhh, well, that's a totally different matter! =)

People are probably off doing holiday things. *shrug* Yesterday, did you know, there were less than 100 posts ALL DAY?! Sheeze, I can't even remember the last time that happened. *shaking head* Oh, yes I can, it was before Dixie joined AQ! (Just kidding. I can tease her because she knows I love her. *innocent smile*)

If you check out yesterday's stats, there just aren't as many people online as normal. *shrug* The number of logins is 20% less than normal, number of newly listed boxes is down about 30% this week, and a measly THREE people joined the site yesterday. (It normally averages about 20 per day, and often exceeds that by a wide margin on the busiest days.)

In a nutshell, there just aren't that many people spending time online recently. *shrug* Don't worry, though, they'll probably be back with a vengeance after the holidays. =)

FINNALLY!!!

After 6 months of driver's ed and compulsively wanting my mother to take me out driving I am now a licenced driver. I got to take the day off of school today (an added plus) to take the test. After taking the written exam (passed BARELY) I was allowed in the car. Thinking I would be just as bad on the road as on the written i tried to brace myself for an inevitable failure. BUT I PASSED!!! Now I only have to wait 24 hours so i can go BACK to the DMV to pick up the licence.

I am soo exited. Now i can FINNALLY get all the boxes my mom didn't want to drive me to and Bluebird, Music Woman, and Butterfly have alreaddy found. Hmm... that reminds me. I havent actually FOUND a box in forever it seems. gah!

Fish or man

P.S. CT boxers heads up for a box commemorating this. In the proccess of carving. hmm ill need mom to pick up tupperware......w8, now IIIIII can do it!!!
