I thought the AQ board had been designated for yakking. Isn't that why the AQ Announcements board was created?

That's what I thought, as well.
Plus, i just went through the other boards, and I dont' really see another appropriate board to throw it on, so it's staying here until there is another one. *nods*
The closest thing is maybe Hobby Box's 'Miscellanious Oddities', but i don't think that's quite what we're looking for.

As we have no designated yakking board, and this is pretty much a general AQ board...I'd vote yeah.
But, i guess that's really for Ryan to have the final say on, though. *nods*

It's too much effort to enforce rules for the Atlas Quest board. If I see a thread on this board that better belongs somewhere else, I'll move it, but otherwise, yakking is fine. *shrug* Don't count on "real news" showing up on the Atlas Quest board. It'll show up in other locations such as Atlas Quest Annoucements instead.
If there IS something of importance to post, I'd probably avoid posting on the Atlas Quest board where it's likely to be overlooked among the not-real-news posts.
However, I have created a designated "Yakking It Up" board for silly posts that you don't want to bug others with. =)

See what happens when I'm away from my computer for 6 hours?
Is this board *really* going to stay? If so, I'll have to add it to my favorites. I thought maybe it was a one-day only event for all the silly letterboxers who may have had too much sugar and caffeine this morning.
The original thread that put this board into being ... is that going to move over here?
*** remember to get out and take those winter photos for for the 2007 AQ calendar. We don't have enough snow here yet. ***

Nope, from what i'd assume, this one's here to stay. Gives people a place to yak about what they want to yak about without cluttering other boards. *nods*
Personally, i think this is a good idea.

I've added the board to my favs. I have a mac and I don't think chat works for me yet, but there are so many boxers on this site when I am here, that I don't really see the difference between posting to boards and chat.

I agree that not allowing chit chat or yacking can result in less posting. It may create a feeling that someone may not wanna post a message on a "Yak" board because there message is a general one meant for everyone. too many rules and fussing over little stuff has in the past made me start shying away from other boards at other places. I hate it when people get irritated over an occassional conversation of plain ole good charm etc.
I can understand moving messages to a "help" board when asking for help etc but moving general talk away from the AQ board seems crazy because you already have a board for everything else.
it's kinda like people who complain about certain literature, magazines, etc...if you don't like it don't read it.
sorry...but my honest 2 cents worth. I am here cause it's fun not because i need more rules and regulations for simple stuff. I haven't had as much fun on here since it was made clear we shouldn't be talking about grits or coke. geez!

I can understand moving messages to a "help" board when asking for help etc but moving general talk away from the AQ board seems crazy because you already have a board for everything else.
Now, see, I see this new Yak board as a board specifically for just general chatting, yes...but the AQ board for me was always a board where you posted when you didn't quite know where it was supposed to go, and if it finally leaned in a direction, you could move it to the appropriate place.
Just general yakking, conversations about stuff other than letterboxing, etc, would be perfect here, because it's not about postals, not about virtuals, not about stamp carving, etc...it's just talking about stuffs. Or even just general sillyness! (Yakkitty Yak!)
The AQ board can still be used very much in it's full former way, it's just that if it seems to be more of a random chat, it could go or be moved here.
The complaint before, for example, regarding the grits/coke discussion, was that people were opening up those messages from the AQ board, orginally thinking they'd be something regarding AQ or some such, only to find a discussion about food names in different areas. Understandably, a little infuriating for people who perhaps have limited time to get on AQ? Or perhaps those that are looking for something specific, but are now distracted by off-topic messages?
And that was only aided by people who might not change the subject line when the discussion begins to stray even more.
Now, I personally love having a specific yak chat board, because that means there's a place we can just lay back and speak freely, and let discussions wander,a nd not have to worry about that kind of thing.
However, i understand your complaint about more rules and regulations...it really boils down to mostly that it's not that we don't want to talk about grits and coke...we just want to do it in the right place, so that those who are looking for certain things don't get confused, sidetracked, or limited.
(final note- this is all my opinion, so don't get frustrated or anything, please! Just how i see it)
:D
In the meantime, Yak yak yak! :D
And chitty chat chat.

no worries...It takes more than your opinion CQ on a board to get me frustarted...afterall, I respect your opinion very much and hope that others do mine also. I didn't mean we shouldn't have a Yak board. maybe it will help it be more fun (for me) again but I know there will be dozens of potential conversationists who will never come to the Yak board. No big deal though. I was just saying how walking on egg shells through a message board, wondering if a line of talk will tick someone off makes things less fun especially when we were all very civilized in the first place. We don't go around calling names and acting all stupid here at AQ...it has always been good clean FUN.
I do agree that we should all learn to change the subject line of our posts as they stary from topic etc.

ps. hope you all didn't take my first post on this as harsh. It wasn't meant to be.
