Okay, I will confess—I'm a huge fan of Lost. I'm ashamed to admit it, but I love my television shows, and Lost is near the top of the list.

But... I just read in the USA Today that Hurley could be seen in the background of a Korean television in last week's flashbacks. I totally missed this! What in tarnation was Hurley doing on Korean television? Well, okay, nobody probably knows that answer, but at least tell us (that is, me!) what context it was in? Could you tell? Was he on a talk show, game show, news, television show, or something else?

Hurley's my favorite character. =) I'm so glad they're finally doing his backstory!

Ah, TV! Something I can relate to! By the time I finish teaching, doing homework with the kids, soccer or baseball practice, church, dinner, etc etc etc. sometimes its just nice to sit and watch the tube and not do anything else. I have certain things I love to watch and try not to miss. Unfortunately I haven't gotten to watch Lost. I know I would love it from everything I've read about it. It just comes on before I get home from Wed. night church. Oh well. I am very addicted to 24, Survivor and Amazing Race. And of course Desperate Housewives! It's a great show. Wonder which wife I identify with the most? Hmmmmm....... I know!

So glad that there is a new season of Amazing Race already! It is my all time favorite reality TV show. I know there are those that prefer Survivor, but Amazing Race is the best in my opinion!

Gosh, hadn't really thought much about that. With kids, you know I don't get control of the TV much. They really like to watch stuff that we watched as kids. They think its funny. EX. this weekend we watch way too much Dukes of Hazzard! It was so hokey! I do like Andy and we watch some of the old cartoons on the Boomerang Channel. Right now, my brain is mush and I can't think of anything else. I'll let you know.

I think I even like AR better than Survivor, and that's saying alot. I used to think I wanted to be on Survivor, but the water thing would kill me. I've gotta have my ice! I'd love to try Amazing Race. You'd be good at it because you travel so much. Maybe you and Ryan should apply next time!! That would be a hoot! I enjoyed it last night. Watching Rob and Amber was like watching someone I knew on there, old friends they are. And of course Ron and .. Kelly? he is from right here in good ole Atlanta GA! We saw him in the 4th of July parade after he got back from Iraq. I liked seeing them on there too. They'll have to do better next week though to stay in.

What's odd about classic TV is how difficult it is to watch it now. It's all so slow or dumb. The Fugitive? ... like watching paint dry. I grew up on Bonanza, Wild, Wild, West; Mission Impossible, Addams Family, I Dream of Jeannie, Disney's Wonderful World of Color, National Geographic, and yearly only, showings of Wizard of Oz and Mr. Magoo's Christmas.

During Napster's heydey, I enjoyed downloading the music from old TV shows. The latest song from Madonna? Who cares. Old TV theme music? Yessss.

A ripe subject for letterboxes. Now if only I can find images of the title credits from Wild, Wild, West. Does anyone remember the later season's shoocking change in the credits?

Lost is totally insane. If it weren't for two good friends, one our literary connection, pushing us to watch it ... I heard a writer/ producer describe the process of vetting ideas for a show's script. They sit around a table and throw out ideas, rejecting the rediculous ones, until they come up with something workable. I can just imagine the Lost writers sitting around the table, "That's crazy, are you out of your mind? It makes No sense. Ok, let's keep that. Other ideas?"

I refuse to watch it every week. The one time I missed it was an important one where the missing people returned. I still have no idea.

By the way, I saw Hurley on the TV in the background, and what was happening to him. "Look, look! That's Hurley! They're arresting him on the TV in the background!" Now I know what it was all about.

I love watching the Amazing Race. It's definitely my favorite of the reality TV shows. If I ever were on a reality TV show, that would be the one. Travel around the world, meet all sorts of bizarre and interesting people. I'd have a blast. =)

Watching this last episode, I was soooo sure that when they got their first clue and had to fly to Peru that the pit stop was going to be Machu Pichu. I really want to go there. =) I can't imagine they wouldn't require a stop in a such a famous local before leaving the country, though!

I can't believe those idiots that didn't check the other piles of sand for earlier times to get on the various flights. Not that it mattered in the end. *shrug*

Was it just me, or did it look like the older couple never picked up their clue after herding the llamas into the pen? I could have sworn they never actually picked up the next clue and was waiting for the bad news when they reached the pitstop: Sorry, but you failed to pick up the clue and will be penalized for 30 minutes (or whatever). Maybe I just imagined it. Or maybe they did get the clue but just cut the film so it looked like they didn't. I don't know. =)

I like Rob and Amber. They're pretty amusing. I like their laid back attitude about the race. The rest of the teams are so focused on winning a million dollars, it seems like they're forgetting the fact that they're traveling around the world to places they'd never have visited otherwise. They should be enjoying it while they can--it'll be over soon enough. And only one team will be leaving with the million bucks. The rest of the teams need to enjoy the time traveling and doing cool stuff while they can!

This is one of the ones that I caught in reruns in the afternoon after school when I was a kid. I LOVED it! I was sooo disappointed in the Will Smith movie. It had such potential!

Finally we've found someone else who's into Lost - none of our local friends are. We are SO addicited to this show - love it! Love the way the mysteries are chipped at slowly. I hear that the writers do know the answers to the BIG mysteries - that they're not writing as they go - but that they have developed all the little side-stories that way. They used the analogy of a trip from point A to point B - they know where they're going, and what major landmarks they'll hit, but the specific route is not set.

Besides Lost, we also like 24 and Survivor, too. But since we cancelled our cable - we don't see any classic TV! So we're stuck with the major networks!

I saw him on the tv but then had to rewind the tape to prove it to my husband. That's one of the things I adore about JJ Abrams and why I knew I'd have to watch Lost once I heard about it. I also love Alias (another JJ Abrams show), which shares the same sort of well-developed characters, clever writing and attention to detail with Lost.

One of the first Alias episodes of this season took place at a party, with Driveshaft (Charlie's band, of course) playing in the background. Talk about a "universes colliding" moment - I was so in awe of that inspired touch that it took me a whole scene to once again rewind the tape to prove what I'd seen (or heard, in this case).

Plot complexity is a big thing that people complain about with Alias, too, but I love it, especially when little, seemingly unimportant things turn up again many episodes later. If you haven't seen the pilot of Lost since it premiered, it's worth a second watch - you'll be amazed at how many hints about future revelations the writers managed to fit in, and how certain looks or bits of dialogue make so much more sense once you know the characters' backstories.

Other than Lost, I enjoy Law & Order, Court TV, my silly soaps, and some of the truly dumb stuff!!

Now that I've seen last night's episode and we learn Harley is worth millions back in the real world, I remember him playing backgammon with the small kid and the kid telling everyone that Harley now owes him $83,000 or whatever and thinking how cute and amusing it was. Alias looks like a show I could really get into, but so far I've managed to stay away from it. I did watch the season premier this last time, but that single episode wasn't enough to really get me hooked so I'm, errr, off the hook, if you'll pardon the pun. =)

I'm hooked on Amazing Race too. I can't believe how much TV I watch now that Jim travels during the week. I was sad that the team that came in last is gone already. I liked them and thought they were funny. I am not so sure I like the Mother/Son team, but I like the brothers. I agree about Ron and Kelly, they might not last too much longer.

The very first episode of The Amazing Race--first episode of the first season--they flew to Victoria Falls in Africa. I had been there a few months before and planted a letterbox right there on the trail they were running around. In fact, they may have even shown the very tree I hid the box in. And it was so disappointing that not one of them bothered to stop and look for my box. =( Over three years later and so far as I know, nobody has yet to even look for it.

There's been other places the contestants have visited as well that were located near letterboxes. One of the seasons ended in Seattle and one of the roadblocks was in Lincoln Park which had half a dozen boxes hidden in. Did they look for letterboxes? Nooooo..... They chopped up totem poles instead. *rolling eyes*

That season ended at Gas Works Park where I spent the night in my car to ring in the year 2000. =) Would have been nice to have won a million instead! There used to be a letterbox there but I think it's fallen out of reach now. (It's still there, but no longer accessible.)

I'm sure they've visited other places (especially in the United States) where there are letterboxes, but I'm not familiar with places like Chicago, or Houston, or Long Beach, etc. to know how close they were to letterboxes. If letterboxes were snakes, though, they've have bitten many of the constestants by now!

Yeah, I liked the brothers too. They were a hoot. The mother and son team don't seem like very nice people, though. I won't be sorry to see them lose.

I wish the two "hillbillys" had been around longer. They were a hoot. But the two gay guys... Lynn is just hilarious!

This is my favorite show, but I have to disagree about the gay guys. They seem just nasty and boorish. And it seems we have another Jonathan type on the show. I'd enjoy this series a lot more without all 3 of these guys.

Yes, the boyfriends just annoy me. And I did see the "Jonathan" type as well. I just can't decide who I want to win. I really liked "the bubbas", I can say that I'm southern, but I just don't know. I feel the hometown hero isn't going to make it very far. So much for all that military training!

Oh, this is DEFINITELY in my top 3 favorite shows! Fredbird and I would just love to do it, but there's just no way when there are two little ones at home. If the show's still around in about 12 years, though, watch for us. ;)

I hate admitting how young I am, but I LOVED watching this on TV Land in college.

And then they just RUINED the name of the series with that crappy movie.

Thank Goodness for the Seattle Public Library. They have an extensive collection of VHS and DVD's including television series! I have just finished the entire 6 seasons of Sex and the City, the first season of Six Feet Under (I am on the waiting list for second season) and 3 Seasons of the Soprano's! (I don't get HBO at home, so this is how I keep current! ) They also have a ton of Andy Griffith, Bonanza, All Creatures Great and Small, Monty Python, Masterpiece Theater, The Office (the original from the BBC), Brother Cadfael, The Saint, The Fugitive --before they were made into movies! :-)

I just loooove that kind of stuff and I love it when shows cross-over into each other. The daytime soaps at ABC do this all the time. People talk about going to the town on the other soap, or they actually will visit the other town and show up on the other soap. I love that stuff!

I have watched all the ABC soaps since I was in diapers! I have been trying to cut back. My stepmom is more rabid about them than I am. When she lived in Asia for 3 years, I would tape the Monday, Wednesday and Friday episodes for her and mail the VHS tapes to her once a month, so she could keep up! Now, whenever I go visit her in Florida, she keeps me up to date on what's happening on All my Children, One Life to Live and General Hospital! --but I am proud to say that I have not watched them at all this year! But I do watch Las Vegas which has alumni from All My Children and General Hospital!

I enjoyed a lot of the spy theme TV shows over the years: The Saint, I Spy, The Man From Uncle, Get Smart. Especially the very interesting and seemingly related shows: Scret Agent Man and The Prisoner. Did you know that the existential The Prisoner was based on a true story?
