Anyone else trying to not go stir crazy?

Went out today to Lake Thunderbird to look for Crazy Cat. Couldn't find it. Even with spray on and barely stepping off the main path - had quite a few seed and larger ticks. We called off going and placing a box or hunting for another for now. I guess to letterbox this summer we'll all need Alaskan Perfume - 100 percent Deet. Good luck to the rest of you.

I thought DEET only worked on mosquitoes. Does it really repell ticks too?

Which insects does DEET work on?
DEET works against biting insects such as mosquitoes, blackflies, horseflies, deerflies, sandflies, fleas and ticks. It will not protect against stinging insects such as bees, wasps or hornets.

I was wondering if anyone live in or around Meers. Or if anyone knows that area. I am wanting to know if anyone knows about the Parrell Forest that is there by the Meers, Dinner. I do alot of hiking with my family and we are wanting to go hiking there. Also think about planting out there if we can ever find it.

The forest is supposed to be right next to the dinner. I have heard that the food there is great but after almost 6 yrs of being here I still haven't had the pleasure of eating there. :(

I know this is probably going to drive some ppl crazy but.... Has anyone heard of the plane crash on My Lincoln in the Wichita Wildlife Refuge? All I know is that it is by bat cave. I noticed a geocacher is trying to find the gps for it. Odd thing is that when I noticed that is when I was looking for the history of the crash and can't find any info on the net about it. Any help??

Hello,

Just a quick question: What are the good drive-bys on I-40 West in Oklahoma?

Will be driving through quickly, and I'm looking for good spots to stop.

Most of my companions will be tolerating this, so short is good.

Thanks,

Hey Ohio! Great job at the DUMMB event! I'm not sure exactly how many people were there, but for such a small number we collected a LOT of food! Our goal was 100 items and we brought in 224! Awesome! Can't wait to do it again next year!

The Souper Thing to Do Stamp is now heading out to Oklahoma for their Okie Ho Ho Ho Event and 224 is the number to beat! So far they only have 10 boxers signed up but they have a few weeks to go yet!

Whaddya say OK? Can you beat OH?

Good for you, Mama!! I'm so glad the event went well and lots of goodwill was expressed. I see you Ohioans like a good challenge... so do us Okies!!
Oklahoma is still an infant where letterboxing is concerned. For us to have a sign-up of ten... that's an overwhelming number!! Technically speaking, if we collect 60 or more items, that is a greater ratio compared to sign-ups, than y'all had. I'm pretty sure there's no way we could beat the actual number... but percentage wise... perhaps. We'll see. Awww, shoot, it's for a good cause and it's all in good fun, anyway. ;)

I met Tulsa Gal yesterday and surprised her a the meeting place. It is a very nice location and plenty of room for us.

A way to get you in the general vicinty coming from the west is to take I- 244 like you were going to Joplin or the airport and get off at Sheridan (the Zoo exit) and turn right. Go to the first main light (admiral and sheridan) and notice the shopping area on the S.W. corner of this intersection. Our gahering place is across the parking lot west from the southwest corner of this small shopping center main building. Or thereabouts.

Thanks for the interest, Mama.
The event was a success!! A good time was had by all. We ate, stamped, and Ho Ho Ho-ed! Lots of silliness was exchanged, as well as boxing ideas and good will.
There were 7 of us in attendance and we collected 56 food items, which were donated to Neighbors Along the Line. (We had no chance of coming close to the Ohio event count with our numbers.)

I'd like to thank Tulsa Gal for securing our location,
Safari Man and Ahistory for making the long trip and including us in their visit,
Okie Dog and Fishinmom for adding their special touches to the day,
and my hubby Chris for helping me along the way.

Ho Ho Ho to all....
til Spring....

Hey Pinky!!
We'd love to meet up for an exchange, but we are closer to Tulsa. Gonna be anywhere close?
Also, I am the one to contact for the state patch. If we meet up, I'll bring a few... they are $2.00 each. If a meet up isn't possible, my address is
Melody Belmer
HC 60 Box 1
Osage, OK 74054
Send a self addressed envelope along with $2.00 each patch... postage is included with the patch.
Let me know about your travel plans and I'll see what, and who I can get from our area.

It might not take to many more before Stoops ends up like Lloyd Carr.
Most lackadaisical, spiritless show up I have seen since OU played Iowa State
and almost lost that one. Attitude and preparidness fall right in the coaches laps.
