Nope, I think you might be the only one. Missouri Population: 1

But seriously.... I know of at least a couple of letterboxers in the neighboring state of Kansas. =)

But sadly, I don't know too many letterboxers in Missouri at the moment. They will come, though, if you're patient! =)

Indeed there is a fabulous LB community in Mid-MO, but most our action is being done through LBNA and through C2B2's site at www.midmoletterboxing.blogspot.com. We're about to host the second annual Fall gatheirng in Columbia if anyone is interested.

I'm trying to post more of my own stuff here too, but I'm finding the simplest way to keep in touch with what is happening in Mid-MO is through the blog.

Yes, Mid-Missouri has at least 30 letterboxers (probably more) and more than 100 listings on LBNA. We are without doubt the fastest growing region in the state with an incredible diversity of boxes. If you don't live in the area but have time to plan a letterboxing vacation, it's well worth the drive. St. Louis and Kansas City area also have a growing number of boxes. The northern and southern portions of the state, however, still appear to be quite slow. Lnd-Crzr and I hit a number of boxes in SE Missouri this summer but most of those were planted by people from another region or even other states.

Just in case anyone new runs across this board and is interested in LB in MO, in particular Mid-MO, take a look at C2B2's site at www.midmoletterboxing.blogspot.com .

We just hosted our Fall Arts and Crafts Gatheirng and drew 33. This was Mid-MO's 5th gatheirng and they continue to grow as does this fantasitc little community. I always say it is a world class LB community. Nicer folks and nicer LBs would be tough to find I believe. Did I mention our famous potlucks? Oh my!

We have a winter gatheirng coming up in late January and our third annual Spring Gatheinrg (which tend to be way off the hook) is tenativley set for early May.

If you drop into the blog, be sure to browse through the archives (located in the right side bar) as there is lots of clever clues and some good eye candy.

Most our action takes place on LBNA, but I am trying to migrate some to AQ.

Bravo to Lnd-Crzr for his efforts, also Foxfire and the whole gang in Mid Mo.
We drove out from KC and hope to have a gathering here at some point, if we can drum up enough interest in the finer points.
Anyone traveling through Missouri on I-70 should REALLY stop in Columbia for a few hours and take in the awesome letterboxing there.
What a treat!

I was only able to sneak in for the last few minutes of the fall gathering, but it was so much fun to get to meet other area boxers and put faces to the signature stamps I've seen in the wild! :)

If anyone is going to be passing through St. Charles County anytime soon, we need more boxes out here! Currently, except for a few virtual boxes (which are cool, but my kids want real-time stamps), there aren't any currently active except for the ones I planted (and potentially one other that we couldn't find).

And I'll have a new series of 3 near the 70/64 interchange on Monday, just in time for Thanksgiving travelers...

I've trying to get others interested, but there aren't very many close by to help get them hooked! I have plans to plant many more, but need to wait until after Christmas to see if Santa brings me any of the weird things on my new list...

Thanks!

Growing a good community can be tough, but if you're patient it will grow.

Let me extend an invitation to venture to Mid-MO and experience some of our boxes. While you're wating for your own area to grow. Mamaroots is hosting an informal get together on dec 22 in Columbia and our annual Winter gathering is coming up in late January, early Feb.

If you haven't yet, get in touch with Fairy Princess Fiona and Rozebud who are close to you. the three of you have the beginnings of a good community. reach out to artsy friends and it will be busteling in no time.

Ka-Thump in Mid-MO

If you listened closely you could hear the Ka-Thump of many new clues landing in the Mid-MO region.

Anyone recall the contest I have running for the 200th box? We just got substantialy closer.

And a good job to DrugAlong4Fun. She did a grand job of collecting all but 2 of the FF from the FF Tom Vol II. Seems like JennyJ did the same with the first FF Tome given about the same time last year. DrugAlong4Fun had much nicer weather than JennyJ did.

Hmm...could this too becoming yet ANOTHER Mid-MO LB tradition?

In case anyone is caught unaware, there is going to beb an informal get-together, hosted by Mamaroots, in Columbia at the Cherry Street Artisan Cafe on Dec 22 at 7 PM. Lots of local LBers and plenty of good eats.

AhHa! I thought it was a sonic boom shaking the house yesterday, when really it was LndCrzr dropping all those clues for his new MidMo boxes! And one from AHistory for good measure.

Congrats to DragAlong4Fun! I'm sure she had a great time with FF Tome Vol II.

Snow's a-meltin' - looks like I got those new ink pads just in time!

I just learned about letterboxing last Friday and Sunday I found two!!! I'm so excited.

I'm in the KC area and am a bit disappointed that there doesn't seem to be a great deal of activity here.

I'd like to go to an event of some kind if it is near by.

Schucks! You just missed a fabulous (if I do say so myself) gatheirng here in Mid-MO this past Saturday. We had Two Outdoors Girls make the trip down from Olathe.

Take a look at the Mid-MO area if you want oodles of LBs. Look at both AQ and LBNA as most of us Mid-MO folks only post on LBNA. And certainly look at C2B2's site which has great info about the fabulous Mid-MO LB community including articles and pics about past contests and gatheinrgs (look in the archives for the last spring gatheinrg 'There and Back Again).

www.midmoletterboxing.blogspot.com

If you're new I'll give you the speel I give to EVERYONE. Please be discreet in your LBing and practice proper re-hideation. that is always completely hide and LBs from view. better to get fingers a bit dirty uncovering a well hidden box than to have it not be there because someone didn't practice proper re-hideation.

Our next BIG event will be our 3rd annual spring agtheinrg in early May (looks like May 5th, but is yet to be set in stone). These spring gatheinrgs are drawing big crowds and tend to be pretty over the top. It is also becoming a trend that these clues don't get published due to the amount of work that goes into them. So if you can make it, I HIGHLY recommend it.

There may be another mini-gatheirng between now and then as many folks are wanting more workshops like we did at this past Fall gatheinrg. Keep an eye on the events calendar here at AQ or better yet on the Mid-MO blog.

Take care!

I've tried to conatact MoUR4Me about joining us for various gatheirngs and don't recieve any reply. Wasn't sure if they were not interested or reclusive. We would love to have you all down for our big spring gatheirng. Rozebud and Fairy Princess Fiona came down for our craft gatheirng in the Fall and I think they'll vouch for us as a grand little LB community who knows how to throw party.

Rozebud is going to do something around Columbus day. We wanted to do something a little sooner than that. Mo UR4 ME seems like she is always posting so I know she is not reclusive, though I think they either just moved or are in the process of switching houses. She wasn't able to make the last event either. I am excited to come down to the spring event and look forward to it. I love AQ so I was wondering why MO as a whole seems to do more on LBNA?
