You might try contacting Boasark. She's a very friendly geocacher/letterboxer from that area. She's a member here and just might be able to help you out. Funhog
IOWA - Please help me find Wolfmoon

Hello hello!

I have been trying to locate Wolfmoon who, according to her Atlas Quest profile, lives in Iowa.

I also see that she has not logged into AQ since April 2006.

The last time I was in touch with her was in September 2006. She hasn't contacted me since, despite multiple emails.

I have heard through the grapevine that she may be dealing with Real Life (tm) issues right now, for which I have great sympathy, but there is an important need for me to get in touch with her again.

I am posting on this board because you are all geographically closer to her than me and perhaps even know her in Real Life (tm).

I may need assistance from anyone who can help to do an "intervention" and rescue The Boo Boo Box from her. A whole LOT of folks are waiting for it, and Wolfmoon has it and has had it since June 2006.

I am taking a leap of faith here, because the first time I tried to rescue it from a stalled situation, I was *frowned upon*. And I never got it back. I recreated it and sent it on its way. Once again, the new Boo Boo Box, after having gone to only a few folks, again ran into a stalled situation. Upon trying to retrieve it, I was *crucified*. I got it back, with a vengeance, with multiple postings everywhere about how horrible a person I am.

Now I find myself in another stalled situation.

If anyone has news about Wolfmoon, or knows her and can run an intervention, I'd be very grateful. And since I have already been *frowned upon* and *crucified* for this type of action, if I ever get The Boo Boo Box back, I am going to turn it into an Event Box. I'll continue to collect stories from far flung folks and send them a jpg of the stamp via email, but once back, it's never going on the road again.

Thank you for reading this lengthy discourse and I appreciate any help anyone can offer.

Has anyone tried to find Project PLAY or B.K. boxes? I have tried to find 3 of them so far. One was missing compleately, a friend had found it before and came along with me, so I knew in was really gone (Flowers). The next one had a wooden board in place of where it could have been (Bird Curve) and the third (Bike Trail) we found a box with stuff in it but no stamp or logbook. I e-mailed them but have not received a reply and so I was wondering if anyone in SE Iowa has tried these boxes and come up empty handed too. If anyone from western Illinois has tried please respond too.

Interest in an Iowa event???

I'll be back in the Hawkeye state for another year and am seriously thinking about hosting a gathering in NE Iowa (Decorah) the first weekend in May. I'd love to get a feel for who may be interested in attending. We've got some great hiking to be had there, and I'd love to generate more interest in boxing in that part of the state!

I could be talked into attending an event there, coming down from MN, and the timing would probably be good for me. :)

Thanks for the e-mails/messages! I'm glad to take them and am excited about the interest. For those of you who have never been to Decorah, it is in a beautiful river valley with lots of limestone bluffs. There are several places of natural interest in the community (a spring/"falls", an ice cave, scenic points above the river valley...), hiking trails, and a good campground. There are also many hotels, restaurants, shops, etc... A fun place to live and a fun place for a gathering, I think!
Woohoo!...

... for free "slave" labor!

My husband has been busy at work creating new stamps for the Northeastern Iowa Gathering in May. I have to say, these are some of his best--I never knew he was this talented! I am so excited for this event!!!

We'll keep carving away--and if you are interested in carving some of your favorite "Mythical Creatures," whether or not you can attend, please let us know!

A big THANK YOU to Big Purple Foot and the planners of "A Wild Goose Chase"!!! The event was wonderfully organized and a fun time was had by all! Thank you so much for all of your hard work to make this a meaningful and memorable gathering--it was truly special and I was glad to be a part of it.

I look forward to seeing you at what I hope will be many future Iowa events!

Hi, Iowans! Iowers? Iowanians? You guys from Iowa!

The last week of July, 2008 (July 25-Aug 1, to be exact) is the National Acro-Gymnastics Competition in Des Moines, IA. My daughter Juli will be competing, so...
perhaps it would be fun to hook up with some of you for exchanges! Obviously, so far in advance, I have no CLUE what the schedule will be, but since we just found out the dates, I thought I would give you a heads-up. Looking forward to it!!

Believe me, if it WERE just up to me, I wouldn't even know what was going on until late on July 24th! But I am surrounded by people who are not so organizationally-challenged as I (thank goodness!)

Hey, PowWow,
I'm not from NW Iowa, but I do visit family up there (Sioux City) every 1-2 years. So be sure and plant me some boxes to find! 8-) Maybe we can exchange next time I'm up that way.

My trail name is Maude, and I'm posting just because the LbIowa board is so slow, so I'm hoping to inject a bit of life into it. I don't really have anything to say.

I started letterboxing in Tennessee last August with my son and his girl friend, and had a blast there. Came home and dragged my DH & SIL out to the parks here in Iowa and also near her home in IL. I dropped off my first HH last week in Tenn. (oops! just dated myself), and have a traditional style 5 box series under development - stamps are carved, some clues are written, but one location has not been selected yet, so no clues for that one either.

That's about it, unless someone has a question I haven't answered in my profile.

Maude is in Iowa? NOOOOOOOO! Say it ain't so! :) You really stirred up the trails while you were here. That's nice to see. Congrats on the series. Thanks for continuing at home in Iowa, and thanks for the visit you paid our little treasures down here. I hope the experience hasn't changed you forever..., oh who am I kidding? I hope it has changed you forever. I hope you are a diehard LBer, now. Happy trails, Maude and thanks for all of the visits. Ya'll come back, now, ya'hear?

hey Maude!

when I started letterboxing, I was days from leaving on a road trip, and the first state I went to (and started finding LBs) was Iowa! We stayed the night in Guttenburg, and let me tell you, it was beautiful in that area! I would like to visit there again! (not sure where you are from, but Guttenburg is a little north of Dubuque, along the river.) We then traveled across the state to LeMars (north of Sioux City.) I liked Iowa. The people are friendly. :)

Did you ever find someone to adopt this?

I'm about an hour away, over toward Council Bluffs/Omaha, but I might be able to help out. We get to Des Moines four or five times a year, and it'd be a good excuse to drag my husband out onto the trails with me. :)

I am SO THERE. And I'll possibly be dragging...er....bringing along a few letterboxing newbies from Omaha that I've infected with the bug.

I've been looking at the pages where the clues will be for the event stamps and kind of wish it was May already. Any way to speed up the clock until May? :)

Is there a place we can get more info about the gathering? Where it is, what's all going on, that kind of thing?

so. freakin'. excited now.

I'm in SE Iowa now, but my husband has friends (circus friends, actually) up in Sioux City, so we get up thataway relatively often.

If you plant them, they will come.... :)

Aaaaand now I totally want to go plant a few in Grandview Park. (Used to live nearby. I can think of a few places that would *totally* be perfect for a box....)
