Should we start saving water and gathering canned foods and batteries?

Maybe we should all just get prescriptions for anti-anxiety meds. I mean, I know I get anxious when I can connect to AQ, don't you? ;)

Great then. Contact me any time. I'm probably heading that way for some turkey next month and I'm trying to get some idea together for some boxes to plant while I'm there.

Cooties did NOT start out with clips. They started out in little tin boxes that were about 1/4th the size of an altoids box.

Group boxing question

I have a question about letterboxes that have a F-count on them. There are several of us who letterbox together and we all have different F-counts. Mine happens to be higher than everyone elses, so I did a search the other day and a new box showed up. I'm assuming it has a F-count on it because it doesn't show up when I logged in under my daughter's name and she has a F-count less than mine.

So, the question is, if my daughter or friends go with me, can they stamp in to this letterbox and then wait until their F-count is high enough to log it online?

They don't even have to wait until their F-count is high enough to log it. Just the clues are inaccessible. If you go directly to the box in question (search for it using the "Basic Search" option), anyone can log the find regardless of their counts. They won't be able to see the clue, but they can still record the find.

Will the change have any impact on the clue links located at LBNA

It shouldn't, but if something goes terribly, terribly wrong, the links might be broken for a day or so.

Everything is looking good so far, though. The IP address change has propagated to my system already, and AQ has been accessible the whole time. =) I think I'm out of the proverbial woods for Part I of the IP address migration. Part II of the change (when I disable the old IP addresses) will begin next week.

If you want to know if the new IP address has propagated to your system, run the command "ping atlasquest.com" from the command line. If the reply comes from 38.119.120.169, the new IP address hasn't propagated to you yet. If the reply comes back from 74.200.76.117, that means you're using the new IP address.

Just remember, there's not really any way you can speed up the process yourself. If you're still seeing the old IP address, just try again later. It's supposed to fully propagate within about 48 hours or so, but I intend to wait a week before doing anything else.

Well isn't that adorable. I think Toto is coughing up a fur ball, though. =)

So why did you choose that particular costume, out of curiosity? A big Wizard of Oz fan or something? Lose a bet? Does the boyfriend have fantasies about Dorothy? None of the above? =)

NaNoWriMo is back in place for the month of November only-- same location as last year-- so get it while you can! I was too lazy to make a new logbook. The one from last year has a few pages left, so just conserve as best you can, stamp in on both sides of the page, etc. and hopefully it'll last through the month.

Spirited Away is also back in place, and actually has been for a while, but I just hadn't gotten around to updating the clue to say so. I was right to remove it when I did, as when I returned it, it was clear that the bushes got the yearly trimming that I had been expecting.

The tortoise of the Tortoise and the Hare series is also back out there, in a new hiding spot that will hopefully hold out better than the last.

And finally, I've gotten a couple of missing reports on Silver & Pipkin in the Watership Down series, though I've had no chance to check for myself to make sure yet.

Quote Well... I got short notice that I "have to come in a costume" for dinner at a friend's place tonight, so now here I sit in painter's coverall dyed pink (complete with hood!), a "Hubba Bubba" logo glue over the painter's logo and a shoe tied to my head. Thanks to whoever it was for the "gum on a shoe" idea!

Your welcome. Hopefully you brought a bag of Hubba Bubba for the cravings you created.

Or is this one where you Cali-natives snicker at the rest of us for being concerned? ;)

Have you ever seen the move LA Story with Steve Martin? Makes fun of pretty much every stereotype there is in California (or at least Southern California), but one of them has them eating lunch in a restaurant and a large earthquake starts going. The locals just keep going on like it's no big deal, ignoring it for the most part, while the woman from England (I think it was--been a long time since I've seen the movie) is freaking out. After the quake ends, the locals start guessing at the size of the quake like it was a parlor game.

Hilarious! =) Great movie. *nodding*

I'm lost on this fancy wording i.e. ping command line. I just want to know that when I hit AQ on my favorites it will go where it is supposed to go? Is that correct? Or do I put in the Internet Explorer address bar: 74.200.76.117 and it will take me there then? And later on when things settle down I can then change my favorites to the correct address? Right?
Thanks, Okie Dog

a flea is what happens when cooties and hitchhikers meet in sprite and highlander's back yard and take lessons from the squirrels...

um...

it is a hybrid box, small, and can be planted on someone like a cootie, or left in a box like a hitchhiker, or left in a hitchhiker like a parasite, or mailed in a postal...however it moves, just so long as it moves.

Since I'll soon be hosting my first hostel. I just wanted to know.
How long do you think is too long to have a HH in a hostel?

I'm thinking if it's been in there for a month, I should move it on.

What do you all think?
