Hey everyone!!

I have been talking to BR1 today on the phone!! He is back on American soil, is at Fort Riley KS, is with his wife and 3 babies and is extremely happy!!! He got home much earlier than expected and has already had his first steak and Rolling Rock!! Joe and Jenny and the kids are staying at a campsite not even 10 miles from post. He has to report in tonight for a couple of hours and then spend a long day tomorrow inspecting and returning his weapons and all equipment.

As of 9:00 am Monday----he is a free man!!! He is officially out of the military (only for now) and timed it so that he can go hunt buffalo......then up to the UP of MI and catch the last 3 days of muzzleloading deer season.....and will eventually swing back down through Ohio (where we are trying to set up a mini-meet) and get back home to Statesville NC.

I could hear Jenny and the kids in the background and they are all just so very happy!

As many of you know he and I have this huge OSU v. MI bet----and BR1 lost it!!! (Thank God!!!) shhhhhh Don't tell him----but I'm gonna let HIM off the hook quite a lot and ONLY make him wear all the OSU gear we collected for him at the "All Military" Event just one week ago here in Ohio!!! We WILL get a picture of that, however!!!!

He wanted to make sure I posted a message letting you all know he is back on American soil, safe and sound!!! One cool thing too----he stayed in the hangers at Pope AFB (right beside Fort Bragg) where my son jumps from! That is where we waited the last time Greg came back from Iraq so that was nice to know BR1 was there too!

hey, i see it on the map.

I tried changing the sort order and like this map a bit better. =) The first map was ordering stuff by the name of the box. This one is listing them by the most recently listed boxes, which is pulling in a wider map of the world. The "zoom level" is determined by the lettered markers, and since the Iraq box was one of the last 26 boxes listed, it zooms out a heck of a lot wider than the first 26 boxes listed alphabetically in the results. This particular zoom also pulls in a box from Australia and Alaska!

Of course, once 26 more boxes get listed, they won't be used for the zoom level anymore.

Looks like I'll be able to find an extreme letterbox or two pretty soon (unfortunately). Anybody know of any existing or new boxes in and around the Mesopotamian AO? I'm wondering if I need to pack an extra little LBing kit in my bags...

Take care on your new adventure. And be sure to look up The Weatherlys if you haven't already. Danny Weatherly has been over there for about a year and he frequently checks in on AQ. Really great letterboxing family from Washington state.

Hey Daelphinus!
I was lucky enough to catch a couple of your boxes in Washington while I was on leave. I know there are a couple of boxes in the Baghdad area, and I have one in the Mosul area. Those are the only ones that I know of. I will also be planting one in Kuwait in a few weeks.

I don't have specifics yet but I'm assuming I'll be out in the boondocks hanging out with detainees--not near any of the 'better known' locations. I may have to leave a letterbox for the poor folks who'll end up in the same 'neck of the woods' as I'll be hanging my hat in for a year. I'll probably be traveling about but I can't anticipate having much (any?) free time when I'm out and about. I'll definitely try, though. After all I'll likely be one of the few soldiers over there who's getting MORE sleep and free time there than I did at home. ;) I keep telling my DH & kids that I'm going to a Mesopotamian Spa... ;)
