Is this the first post???

I just started a new quilt for a young boy, age 9. He loves lighthouses so I embroidered 9 of them using only blue thread and sashed them. Going down the left side, I encoded his name using Nautical Signal Flags. So the quilt won't be centered. The lighthouses are weighted to the right and are shades of tan and blue. The signal flags are bright primary colors so they weigh heavily to the left. I posted a photo on my facebook to get opinions if I should continue it and it seems that everyone is liking it. No pattern, it's mine. Robyn

Hi. I have been lurking for a week I have not jumped in and actually searched for a letterbox yet. I have decided to try a postal newbie challenge to get started. Has anyone ever carved a quilt block stamp? I am starting of fwith a hard one as my first. Storm at sea.

Trying to find someone to make a quilt...HELP

I'm hoping to have a full size quilt made with Killer Whales (Orcas) on it. I haven't been able to find anyone that has the time to make it. I would really like a more traditional quilt, not necessarily hand sewn but from the way people have explained it, I'm not looking into a tied quilt. I found these beautiful fabric (quilt) squares (not sure what the difference is) that have pictures of Orcas on them. I'd like to buy about 5-7 of them to go on the front of the quilt and then have the back orca fabric so it's reversible. If anyone would be interested in or knows of someone they could recommend I would really appreciate it. I should also say I'm not in a rush to receive it either. It's a gift for myself so I don't need it till midway through next year if that is feasible. Thanks for your help :)

That sounds like a fun quilt, how intricate did you want the quilting to be? I like to quilt but don't have the time to take on a big project, I would enjoy a more simple one and love putting a quilt together. Have you had any luck finding someone?

Thank you for the post. I was so fortunate to find an amazing quilter (I hope that's the correct term) and she did such an amazing job on my dream quilt. I can't wait to curl up with it :)

I never realized there was a separate quilting board. Most posts about quilting that I have seen are on the Knitters and Fiber Arts board.

Actually yes! I just finished a Halloween quilt I started last September but my room exploded and the quilt got backburnered. It's all minty, orange, and black but not cheap novelty fabric like. Some of my leftovers will fit right in with my stash.

I enjoy a more modern sensibility with quilting, especially colorwise. I enjoy old fashioned blocks re-imagined. I'm currently plotting a flamingo quilt in pinks and treys from a fabric collection I just found.

I'll be in the Portland/Vancouver Oregon area on business the end of August and I'm looking for quiltin' boxers (boxing quilters?). I'd like to find out about the best quilting stores around as I plan on getting some Row By Row patterns and license plates. Oh, and letterboxing some. Any suggestions?
