Well I had the opportunity, a letterbox, and after looking at the area I was in ,Cordoba, I decided not to plant. The area around Cordoba is the Bread basket for S America and every where I looked it reminded me of Imperial Valley or San Juaquin Valley. If some one went out of the way to find an Argentine LB I sure wouldn't want them to be pissed off after looking around and seeing farmer's fields.

Okay, I'll bite. If this particular spot was so unmemorable, why did you go there in the first place? =)

Though if I was in the area, I'd still have planted a box just to say I planted one in Argentina. ;o) Though if it was a really ugly, boring place, I'd at least warn people in the clues that if they want a good time, they might consider doing something else than looking for the box.....

It was the Birds! Cordoba has a pest problem, as the Doves and Pigeons come into the fields by the millions and eat 20 to 40% of some crops. Farmers actually ask the outfitter when he is going to bring "the hunters". This was a hunt of a lifetime.

Let the record show that at the end of December, I planted three boxes in the Tierra del Fuego National Park - 10-15 miles west of Ushuaia and the very southern tip of Argentina. The park is magnificent and I'm afraid that my plants were not as safe and well hidden as they should be because it was pouring rain and I was under time pressure. But I hope someone goes after them - it's three boxes on the Border Post XXIV hike (9 km round trip) which is highlighted in the Park literature one gets when one enters the park (and pays the fee).

I am a new letterboxer and these were my very first plants - "Antarctic Critters" - as I was on my way to Antarctica where one would never want to plant boxes because Anntarctica is an internationally recognized prisitine environment by treaty.

No - didn't get over there - just took a ten day cruise that went down the penninsula. Didn't want to plant there because of the ecology issues - would not want to harm a penguin who might mistake a box for dinner.

I'm disappointed that there are no bites on the TdelF boxes. I was hoping if there were no Atlas Questors there, someone might stumble over one of them and then go on the web to see what it is all about and then start a trend down there...... but no sign of that.
