This group is to celebrate those who love cemeteries as much as I do. A taphophile is a cemetery lover. Whether it is the pastoral settings, the incredible carved tombstones, or the poetic engraved remembrances, those who love cemeteries can swap stories here.

If you do my Taphophiles, Unite! series here in NY State, nearly everyone is hidden in a coffin-shaped box. What are your favorite cemetery letterboxes?

BTW, I get so many inquiries about the tombstone patch on my backpack, that I am going to design and order some Taphophiles, Unite! patches so other letterboxing cemetery lovers can have a cool patch...stay tuned for details!

This is only the second time I've ever browsed through the boards and I see a word that I have only recently learned. Taphophile. I didn't even know there was a word to decribe my attraction to cemeteries. People always say things alluding to goths or halloween. Nope and nope. They are beautiful, historic, peaceful, and look at all that love you see! Most people I know don't get it. But there it is....

I love the history, the peace, the architecture and so many other things. There are many more things to like than the creep factor. Or course, I would be lying if I didn't include that in my personal list.

I have the date of my Ghost Hunt for 2010 up if you are interested. It is May 22nd...

There are several WOM boxes hidden inside and there is a cool cemetery there too...

I am on the cemetery board in my township and plan a workshop on cleaning headstone, in the spring, for anyone wanting to know the correct way...

I would love to do a mini workshop for anyone wanting one combined with a LB event...

the cost is a place to sleep for the night.... if the trip is more than 5 hours from my home in Northern OH...

:)

Taphophile. I didn't even know there was a word to decribe my attraction to cemeteries.

Oddly, I discovered this word today when someone messaged me about a box that I have in a cemetery here in NC. Then I happen upon the board. I'm very excited.

I love them for the history as well. And unique markers/stones. I thoroughly enjoy going through cemeteries and checking out the unique head stones.
