Watched a few horror movies over the weekend. None of which were really special.

C.H.U.D.: From 1984. Nice movie, pretty good but nothing special.

Morgana: from 1995 Thought it was supposed to be a vampire movie. I knew there would be nudity. What I didn't know was it was just a soft porn skin flick. Also known as Blonde Heaven. Not a real horror movie.

Yeti: A Sci-Fi channel film on dvd. OK film if you have nothing better to do. Forgetable. Much better choices to watch than this.

Thanks for the review Chuck.
We LIKE C.H.U.D., but not familiar with the others.

WE WATCHED:

KNOCK KNOCK..... this is a 2007 Movie. Lots of blood and guts. A tad bit different of a storyline, ...... the method of the killings of these high school students was according to what profession their parents had. Turns out to be a revenge story from something that happened to a HS student 20 years ago.
STRANGE ending.... a leave you hanging ending.... but really nothing more to tell of the story....... we liked the movie, but not the ending.
Scale of 1-10...... 7

POLAR STORM .... a 2009 movie.
This was surprisingly good for a Sci Fi channel movie. We really enjoyed it.
A lot like THE CORE, but different enough so it wasn't too predictable. A unique way to "FIX" the damage that had been done.
Check this one out if you can.
Scale of 1-10 ......8

KNOWING..... 2009... Nick Cage movie.
Charlie watched this one today while I was gone. He said it was GOOD.... though not at all what he was expecting ! Daughter Rhonda had already seen it and said the same thing.....
1 - 10 scale.... this one would be 7

That's it for this weekend !!!
We'll be checking out more "8 FILMS TO DIE FOR" soon !!!

Watched Wishmaster 1 and Wishmaster 2 last weekend. I liked them them both. The special effects when the Wishmaster was doing stuff to people was excellent. I would say that I would rate them both as 7 out of 10. Very entertaining.......Chuck of WWW

Friends,
We have been watching a lot more movies at home lately.
This week we have watched:

SCREAMERS: THE HUNTING 2009
This was a sequel to the SCREAMERS back in 95.

This was pretty good. I didn't recognize any of the cast with the exception of Lance Henrickson, who had a very small, but important part. Just seeing him made it a GOOD MOVIE. He's one of our favorites.
We were both pleased with this one. Worth a watch, especially if you have seen the first one with Peter Weller. It picks up after that one.
VERY GOOD !

HANGMANS CURSE 2003
This is the typical HIGH SCHOOL Angst movie, with the exception of DAVID KEITH as the father in a detective family. He, his wife and two kids all work for the FBI. They go undercover at the high school......
This has a rare appearance of WILLIAM R. MOSES.... do you remember him ??
"DANGER WIL ROBINSON , DANGER"... He played the boy in Lost in Space. You could BARELY recognize him.
This was good ! We found it KINDA predictable, but not so much so that it bored us.
WORTH A WATCH

THE TRIBE...... also known as The Forgotten Ones. 2009
This was strange. One of those that started with a scene back in the 20s.... on a small Antillies island... One scary dark scene.... then CLICKED to Modern day bright sunshine....
where young people ended up back on the island. Then dark again as they battled..... we're STILL not sure WHAT...... looked like a cross between animal and human....
I won't say this was a BAD movie..... but it wasn't clear enough what was going on.... and it just ENDED......
"Surely it's not going to end like this"... and the credits rolled.
One of "THOSE" movies.

LAKEVIEW TERRACE 2008
This starred Samuel L Jackson. It was billed as a THRILLER, but it didn't thrill me.... In fact, I stopped watching half way through..... I was so dissapointed in it. Charlie watched the whole thing. His review was "It was OK".
He says this one is "Worth watching if you can't find anything else......"..... but not one he was wild about.
MAJOR surprise.... we are both Samuel L Jackson fans.

INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS 1978
Donald Sutherland, Leonard Nimoy and Karen Allen.
This is a CLASSIC. We enjoyed it just as much this time... as the first time we watched.
This is a remake of an older film.... and has been remade at least once since 78. The newest version is Nicole Kidman... from just a couple of years back. ALL very good.... but this one...
is EXCELLENT !!!
If you haven't watched this because it's an OLD movie.... you are missing out !!!

KRULL* 1983
Another "older" movie.... a fantasy that blends a love story, a comedy and even a bit of a CREATURE feature..... Good old fashioned GOOD VS EVIL !!
This is another older movie that is DEFINATELY worth a watch !!

That concludes our MOVIE REVIEW for today. WHEW I told you we'd been staying home a lot watching movies !!

Tonight we have the new movie EAGLE EYE with Shai Labouf ready to watch.

I liked Eagle Eye a lot,

We didn't get to watch EAGLE EYE.... the servers were all choppy.... so we watched FEAST 2 SLOPPY SECONDS instead.
We did NOT like Feast..... but there is now part 2 and part 3, so we decided to watch.
2 was much better than the first one... VERY graphic.... but lighter than the first and we could actually SEE most of what was going on......
Part 3 is the plan for this evening !!!

If you get a chance again, I recommend Eagle Eye. I had an idea of what was going to happen, but it was well done. My boyfriend and I enjoyed it. It's one of those movies that's only good to watch once though, since it wouldn't be the same after you know all the twists.

INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS 1978

The ending of that creeped me out big time!

KRULL* 1983

This is a fun movie.

Lance Henrickson, who had a very small, but important part. Just seeing him made it a GOOD MOVIE.

I agree with you there. I love Lance Henrikson!

I used to like Samuel Jackson a lot, but at some point he seemed to have gotten sour about making movies.

Yeah. I heard that he had a ton of demands before he would agree to be in the new Star Wars movies. I think anyone else would have jumped on the oportunity.

OPENING UP CREAKING DOOR...... "Helloooooooooooooooo... anyone here?"........

Everyone has been so busy this summer, we've not watched as many movies as usual I guess.
Charlie and I moved. I bought a house very close to my work. I wasn't in the market to buy but the deal came along and it was too sweet to pass up. So.....we moved 3 miles up the road.
Just Charlie and me and the U Haul truck. We learned the hard way that MOVING IS A YOUNG PERSONS GAME !! OMG.... about half way through I said "I never liked this stuff anyway... can't we just leave it and get all new stuff?".....
All settled now. WHEW

MOVIE REVIEWS

MAGIC.... this is an old movie made in 78 I think. Anthony Hopkins way before Hanibal Lechter.... and a very young and pretty Ann Margaret. Schitzophrenic Ventriloquist ...... dummy persona is jealous of lady friend.
This was cool because it takes place up in the Catskills near the Grossingers Resort. I spent time there in the 70s, when this movie was made.
This was scary, but predictable. Hopkins is always a believable psycho...... he's just plain CREEPY. We liked this one.

FINAL DAYS OF PLANET EARTH..... This is a newer movie... made in 2005. A combination horror / sci fi starring Daryl Hanna. This was standard alien fare, but enough quirks in it to keep it interesting. We liked it.

HEADER....... This one pretty much defies description. Think Wrong Turn on steroids. It pushes the envelope... then just tears it up. Deviant Hillbilly sex at its WORST. The one redeeming thing in the movie is the "under" story of a ATF Agent going bad to pay for medication for his ailing GF. It ALMOST made up for the horrendous parts.... ALMOST.
This one.... we're in shock and disbelief at.... can't form an opinion one way or the other.

SPLINTER This was VERY GOOD !! INDY horror, but anything but typical. It's from 2008.I think it was a Straight to DVD Production and it had a relatively unknown cast.....
What starts out as a "parasite that needs a host" movie evolves into so much more. Very small cast, but all likable and believable.
LIKED A LOT !!

That's it for this time.

What's everyone else been watching ????

Just a couple of months ago Charlie and I appeared as ZOMBIE extras in THE LAST SUNSET. I just got a note that they may need me to do some more shots.
On another NON horror movie note..... Mandie and the Secret tunnel, a family movie based on Lois Lepard books.... is out now. It was my first opportunity to see myself on screen.... AND IN THE CREDITS !! Now a Credited Extra.... might mean easier access to auditions.
WOOO HOOOOOOOO!
We still like playing HORROR the best.

Hello Friends,
We went to see THE WOLFMAN this afternoon. What better way for a couple of horror movie lovers to celebrate Valentines Day than to go see THE new scary movie !

The movie itself was good. Not great, but good. The special effects, the werewolf change.... was AWESOME ! the story itself stuck very close to the original.

Benicio Del Toro was an excellent choice for Lawrence Talbot. He has the same "Sullen / Sexy"
look that Lon Chaney Jr did in the 1941 version. He's not the dashing movie star handsome, but this was just like anything else he is in ..........he is riveting.
Sir Anthony Hopkins played his father, Sir John Talbot. I wondered if he'd have a cameo appearance, and we'd only see him in what we saw in the previews, but he was a very important part of the story and was, as always, commanding.
Emily Blunt played Gwen, love interest of first Ben, Lawrence's brother... then a "sort of" love interest of Lawrence himself.

In short, we enjoyed the new version and thought it a very close to "exact" remake of the original, with the new special effects to bring it into the new milenium.

Definately catch it if you have the chance.
TWO THUMBS UP.

Monster fan Friends,

This is the movie poster for A FEW BRAINS MORE SUMMER OF BLOOD.
It's a Zombie movie that Charlie and I worked on last fall. Nicer weather was needed to finish up, so we'll be shooting again over Easter Weekend.
This is Charlie's first NAME role.
When they were taking pictures of Jackie and Charlie, they had one where he was trying to bite her and she was coming down with the sword to decapitate him. They froze at just the right time to allow for photos and Jackie said "Hurry up, he's really creeping me out"..... then she said to Charlie... "I'm sorry dude, but you're just hideous!".....
Probably the only time you'll hear someone respond to "You're hideous" with "Oh, thank you". *LOL*

The trailer is available on You Tube. Charlie and I are both shown in the trailer !

I auditioned last weekend for a NURSE role in a horror movie filming in Greensboro this May and June. I won't know for sure if I got it until March. It will be my first NAME role and it's a speaking part. I was nervous at the Audition, but for my first one, I think I did OK.

Check out the movie poster and let us know what you think !!

Friends,
Nobody has posted on this board for a very long time.
I thought I'd try to re break the ice and see if we couldn't get some good conversations going !!!

I recently watched the "new" NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET with Jackie Earl Haley. Though I am a Robert Englund fan, I never cared for the older ones. I loved the new one. I felt that it explained much more instead of just being a gorefest. Although, the gore was top notch.

We recently watched PRIEST.... and both found it to be an interesting take on the Vampire legend. Not too long before that we watched LEGION..... which was very good......
and THE RITE, which was creepy beyond words.

Charlie and I have been busy in the Film Industry.
Not too long ago we both got bloody in a horror movie filmed at our house. The movie, not out yet, is called OUR FATHER.... and it's about a priest who is a seriel killer.

Most recently we played foster parents in the first episode of a series of short films called APOCRYPHA. The synopsis says "The store of Angels and Demons and the unique being that could be the salvation of Humankind."

We are finally getting Speaking roles.... and more importantly PAID roles.
You can look us both up on IMDb. We don't have pictures up yet, but it details the movies that we have been in.

MOVIE REVIEW

Cowboys & Aliens.
We went to see this last weekend. I wasn't expecting to be impressed. I had heard that it was mediocre at best. I was pleasantly surprised. Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig were both excellent. Clancy Brown, who is one of my favorites, was FANTASTIC .....
the story itself was unique and interesting.

*pushing through cobwebs and coughing from the dust*

HELLO HORROR MOVIE FRIENDS,

Is anyone here and paying attention to this board ???

Charlie and I have been SUPER BUSY in the film industry. Though I have been unable to get us into COMMERCIALS , which is where the big $$ is.... we have been doing paid gigs in short and feature films.... and I just did my first VOICE OVER role for a show on THE BIBLE NETWORK called SID ROTH'S ITS SUPERNATURAL.

As HORROR MOVIE WATCHERS, recent ones have been:

SHADY PLACES with Christina Applegate. This was at best, OK. Predictable and a lot of "SLOW" parts. The characters weren't people that you truly cared about ...... just kinda THERE.
"OK"

AFTERSHOCK..... this is about partying friends in CHILIE trying to survive after a major earthquake and the threat of a tsunami. Adding to the usual drama of disaster is the prisoners escaping from a damaged prison and the basement of a catholic church being a mass grave for babies that the nuns had. CREEPY THAT.
Another rating of
"OK"

ATM..... what an INTENSE movie, for most of it only having ONE LOCATION and 3 actors !!
I watched this one by myself and I liked it a lot !
"GOOD!"

MEDIUM RAW.... a typical "insane asylum patients on the loose" movie that turns out to be anything but typical. Very much worth a watch and at times, the GORE METER is off the charts !!
"VERY GOOD"

KILLER MOUNTAIN ..... Mountain Climbers go on a search and rescue mission ..... only to find that the mountain is ALIVE with ravenous monsters who have a secret. Typical Mad Scientist type movie, but pretty good.
"GOOD"

THE BAY ..... This was filmed here in NC and some of our film community friends are in it. It is kind of predictable, but the acting is good and the story is a bit different than the normal DANGER IN THE WATER fare.
"GOOD"

CABIN IN THE WOODS ...... Saved the best for LAST. OHHHH EMMMM GEEEEE , this is fantastic.
What I had thought would be a typical "sexy teenagers running through the woods until they get chopped up" horror film evolved into SOOOOO MUCH MORE ...... If you like HORROR / THRILLER / EDGE OF YOUR SEAT .... Check it out !!!
"EXCELLENT".

WHAT HAS EVERYONE ELSE BEEN WATCHING ?
